We originally purchased this home as a second home, but immediately fell in love with the town and area so we moved permanently from Iowa to here. We just finished building a new house in the neighborhood and are keeping this great residence as a guest house and rental.
Stephanie LeCompte purchased this house in 2009
We initially bought it because it was one of the few ski-in/ski-out properties in the neighborhood (Sunrise Ridge), however we soon came to appreciate the added bonus of summer and the numerous activities - hiking, mountain biking, road biking, huckleberry hunting (late July and August), boating, rafting, fly fishing, golfing and more! The town of Whitefish has numerous activities and events to keep you occupied along with great restaurants! Everyone is low-key and not pretentious (this isn't Aspen..), which makes everyone fit in! We loved this location so much, we built a custom home right next door. Hiking, mountain biking, dining, skiing are all right out the back door (no need for a car for any of these!).
Spectacular views of Great Northern mountain out the back windows and deck as well as great views of the ski mountain out the kitchen.
What a fantastic place to gather a group together! The location is wonderful and the home has amazing views! We had 5 couples and everyone had enough room (their own bedroom and bathroom) to get away even though we all ended up in the kitchen and living room as is always the case. The huge dining room table made meals a blast.
The Lecompte family have done a great job in regard to a beautiful kept and well appointed home. If you are planning a get away for skiing, biking or hiking for a larger group this is a perfect place.
This property was perfect for our family reunion. We had 8 people and every couple had a great bedroom and their own bathroom. The rooms were spacious with good separation so each couple had good privacy. The kitchen was outstanding and the dinning table was just right for meals and visiting. The furnishings and decorations and dishes and pots and pans were all first class. The view from the porch was wonderful and a couple of times we had deer wandering through the trees and brush below the balcony. The WIFI connection was excellent! We were there in mid-August 2016.
We gathered with all 4 children coming from different parts of the USA-- and landing at the LeCompte (owners) home and area was a slice of heaven. David and Stephanie are super accommodating-- in fact we needed a "pack n play" for a 4 month old, so they purchased one for the house. AND our son forgot his high speed phone charger when we checked out, so David promptly mailed it to him (just a couple of the ways they are so helpful). David came over and introduced himself and asked if he could be of assistance as we planned a week of hiking. The home has lots of Glacier National Park books, maps and other info, so between David and the literature-- you are all set.
The home is spacious, so relaxed, cozy and comfortable! There are plenty of places for a family of 10 (plus 2 babies) to spread out. Convenient location to catch the Gondola and ride it to the summit of Whitefish Mt. for a picnic and hike with the family. We didn't have time to partake in the Adventure sports (incline slide, zip lines etc.), but it's all up there. The home was a perfect location be away from crowds and have access to Glacier National Park, Flathead Lake and Whitefish Lake. The family all agreed the house and all of the amenities set the tone for the week as one of their "top 10" places to vacation. In fact they want to make this a permanent repeat!!
This place is even better than the photos.
We arrived at this fabulous home in mid-July for a family reunion and stayed for a week. The entire place is just remarkably great — the views, the architecture, the decorations, the amenities — everything. It easily accommodated our large family group with plenty of space for us to hang out together, cook, talk and listen to music. At least for our needs, the location worked very well. There are restaurants, bars and grocery stores very nearby, as is the town of Whitefish. It's about a 45 minute drive to Glacier National Park, but the drive is easy and scenic.
The last thing I'll say is that David and Stephanie, the owners, were friendly and helpful, and left us feeling like their home was our own. If you're looking for lovely place to stay, I highly recommend this one.
We gathered with friends for our daughter's wedding on the Mountain. This house, furnishings, and views were specular! It was close to the mountain--made us want to come back and ski out in the winter. Owners live next door and were responsive to our few questions and needs. Terrific jacuzzi, friendly dogs--felt like home, quiet, comfortable and beautiful!

from the time we arrived until we had to leave the "wow" meter was pegged. the house is what I imagined a castle in the alps might be. all the amenities are just so spot on for a wonderful ski vacation, or for any vacation. I can't say enough about it, but I look forward to some day staying there again!
