Absolutely perfect getaway! All the amenties plus more (great kitchen, laundry, porches), very clean, high quality fun decor, fabulous water views out front AND back, and lots of entertainment without ever leaving. We caught lots of catfish off the back porch/upper deck and crabs in the traps provided - delicious and so much fun. It was the perfect place for my husband and I to relax and our 8 year old daughter had a blast...already planning our next visit!
My husband and I spent 8 nights at the Crab Trap recently and we really enjoyed it! The camp is well equipped with everything you could need for rest and relaxation. The accommodations were very comfortable and extremely clean. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and condiments. A convenient laundry room housed a nice washer and dryer. Televisions graced every room and the camp was decorated beautifully. A spacious upper deck provided viewing for great sunsets and fish jumping out of the water below. The boat slip was easy to maneuver and there was adequate parking for our cars under the camp. The only drawback was when it came time to walk our small dog, the only greenspace was across a busy highway near a bayou with alligators. He sensed predators and did not enjoy walking there. Except for that, everything else was very pleasant and we intend to return to the Crab Trap in the future!
This was our second year renting this camp. Every member of my family loves to fish and crab and every year we catch fish that we can not at home. I Love the little extras like access to use the crab traps and the extra's we received this year.
We really enjoyed our week at the Crab trap. The kids loved fishing off the dock. Caught catfish and crabs. Sitting out on the upper deck early morning was lovely. The neighbors on both sides were very friendly and helpful. We went on the swamp tour and into New Orleans to the Aquarium with dinner at Daisy Dukes. Found a great little restaurant in Slidell called Terry Lyns. Food and service we great. Went to Kelly's fish market for fresh shrimp and Cajun sausage, made a low country boil adding the crabs we caught. Wonderful! We will come again.
We absolutely loved the Crab Trap! Very clean and cozy, made you feel right at home! Well stocked with anything you may need also! Caught several crabs right off the dock, and lots of fish too! Great location to go on a swamp tour (which we loved!), visit the city (beignets are amazing!), and the Gulf beaches! The owner, Al, was great too! We highly recommend this place!! Many great memories were made!! Thanks so much!
Had a FANTASTIC time..mornings were my favorite before everyone got up I'd sit by the edge and rock with my coffee in hand listening to the birds.watching the sunrise and the sunset was no slouch either. Everyone that visited was delighted and we rented a pontoon along with our boat everyone is sore from all the tubing... We purchased shrimp and crabs from Kenny's and it was a hit..Brought back old memories of my in-laws camp on Violet Canal - years ago.. Thank you so much Al, only one problem I left the tray to my waffle maker there will have to make plans to meet or leave it somewhere I can pass by.. it is rectangle - my grandson said that he will save up his coins so that we can get the camp again.. He is only 9 - Oh yea we all lost weight this weekend.. using steps... Brought a HUGE smile to my face which I had not had in some time.. Ha ! Ha !
This beautiful home is located 5 minutes from I-10 interstate in Slidell, La. It's located on Salt Bayou and has a dock to catch fish, crabs, and shrimp off of.
