Janet and Chris, with their three kids and Golden Doodle puppy, live in Hopkinton, Massachusetts. The picture above shows Janet and the kids on a dolphin cruise off Manasota Key this summer... lots of dolphins!!
With a relatively young family (kids are 13, 12 and 9), Janet and Chris are frequently found on any number of soccer, softball and/or football fields as well as drama and musical production venues, supporting their kids' passion for sports, teamwork, and the Arts.
While Janet and Chris both earned their undergraduate degrees in the Northeast, they didn't meet until their late 20s after career excursions to LA, NY and DC for Janet and global travels with the US Navy for Chris. Currently, Janet runs a family business and Chris works in the engineering field outside of Boston.

We found our 'Vienna' Paradise home in the search for a family vacation spot that could handle large and small gatherings of friends and family - and give us a retirement dream-home to enjoy long before we actually retired. The open feel of the villa-style home's floor plan, combined with its high-end amenities and quiet setting on Manasota Key, immediately gave them the feel of a beach home escape without any of the worries of being directly on the ocean. The 'Vienna' reference is to Janet's favorite Billy Joel song... check it out.... This place is ALL ABOUT SLOWING DOWN.
The 'old world' Florida ambiance of Manasota Key makes this a true oasis from the hustle and bustle of suburban life back home. We lose ourselves in days filled with going from the pool to the beach and back to the pool again. And, we love that water sports are five minutes away and day-trip options abound with outings to water parks, zoos, semi-pro ball parks, and museums - not to mention lots of cultural arts activities in Sarasota, Venice and Englewood.
Thought I would write you a quick e-mail to tell you how much we appreciated our stay in your home. We all had a wonderful time and your house is beautiful and worked perfect for our large group! The beach is perfect as well.
Thanks again. We hope to stay again in the future.
I am certain that my Wife will write a great review on VRBO."
Our family wanted to express how much they enjoyed the privacy of the beach and the surrounding area. Day or night they could walk out and enjoy the sounds and sights of nature. The lush greenery around the beach and the home made it very private and helped put a little shade on the hot days! The porch and pool was a favorite and the kids had a blast cooling off in the evenings. The fact that everything was so clean and tidy and the house was gorgeous and roomy made our stay enjoyable for all. We hope to come back to this house again real soon! Thanks Janet!
We enjoyed our stay. Home was laid out so that one could have privacy or include themselves in group events. The closeness of the beach was a huge plus for all especially since it was sea turtle spawning time. The kids would run to the beach each morning to check in with the "turtle people" to see new nests. The home placed us in the middle of all events whether it was golf, kayaking or shopping in Venice. One suggestion would be a second fridge. With the amount of folks staying fridge space was at a premium.
The house was beautiful. The decor was classy and everything was clean. The house is with-in jogging distance of a great coffee shop. We went here for a family get together 4 couples and 5 children there was more than enough room for everyone. A great big game room with lots of things to do. A perfect place for a family with various ages involved. We had a 70th Birthday party for Mom and the house was great for entertaining. A minute to walk to a beautiful beach. Sharks teeth are plentiful. This is a vacation I will remember for a long time. Don't know if I can beat it. Thank-you!!!!
This home and it's location were perfect for us! The people consisted of my husband and I with our two adult "children" and their families. Each of the younger couples had three children, so six altogether ranging from ages 7 to 5 mos. There were three bedrooms that worked great for the couples and two more rooms with twin beds and bunk beds, and an extra twin mattress and pack-n-play for the baby.
The house was soooo nice, with a very large living room and several smaller sitting areas. We loved walking to the beach and did it every day that we stayed at the house...almost every day. The ocean water was still nice and warm, and there was rarely anyone sharing the beach with us. The kitchen was really nice and well equipped. We prepared most of our own meals and so were very appreciative of all the baking and cooking items....down to the mixer and blender, pie tins, muffin tins and spring-form pans.
It was a very quiet, small neighborhood with very limited traffic. We highly recommend this property!
This 5 Bedroom 4.5 bath house was beautiful. Everything was well maintained and the pool was excellent. We enjoyed the pool waterfall and the screened in patio leading to the pool. The beach access was private for the 5 houses on the street, we think we were the only ones there because we seemed to have exclusive use of the beach. The town in small and quiet but we found amble places to eat and "shop". We rented JetSki's, Pontoon boats and did some Kyaking too.
Any stay at our 'Vienna' Paradise home must include: hunting for shells and sharks teeth along the sandy beach; daily bike rides along the quaint Manasota Key Road's canopied roadway; beach yoga at Englewood Beach; jet skiing and sunset cruising with Beach Road Rentals; swimming with dolphins in the Gulf; and participating in any number of cultural and social events such as fishing tournaments, boat races and regattas. Other annual celebrations include an Art Guild Show, Seafood Festival, July Beach Bash with Fireworks, as well as the annual Turtle Watch when Sea Turtles come ashore to lay their eggs in the sand.
Manasota Key is largely undiscovered and quite spectacular to explore. Stump Pass state park is just a five to ten minute bike ride away on the southern tip of Manasota Key. Secluded jungle trails and hidden coves will transport you back in time. Restaurants and shopping are located within a 15 minute drive where you will also find golf, tennis, cinemas, and even a small amusement park for the kids. Further to the north are the lovely cities of Venice and Sarasota with the Ringling Museum of Art, Mote Marine Aquarium, many fine restaurants, and live theater productions. Be as active or as relaxed as you like in this little bit of paradise on the Florida Gulf Coast! Only a two hour drive from Orlando and just over an hour from Tampa.
