About Kay

In 1991 I was going through a rough time and looking to rent a place that provided serenity and tranquility. I read an ad in the newspaper titled 'VACATION YEAR ROUND' And I rented a place on the water just 4 doors away from the property I now own.

Kay purchased this townhome in 1994

Why Kay chose Clearwater Area

After Renting down the street I JUMPED on the chance to own in this wonderful location. While walking one day, the seller was putting a sign in the window and that was it for me!

What makes this townhome unique

This home is warm and wonderful and hugs me every time I enter. While providing solitude and a slice of heaven it is just steps from everything!

This townhouse was perfect for our stay in Dunedin.

  • 4 of 5

Very convenient to the beaches and local areas we wanted to visit. Beautiful views of the water. The house itself was a little dated but it had everything we needed. Very clean. I wish the back porch had an overhead fan for the really hot evenings and that the front screen/glass door opened a little wider. It was a little hard to get our luggage and such in without it opening all the way. This is probably just a minor adjustment.

Overall, the place was just what we needed and you can tell that the owner takes a lot of pride in it. I'd certainly recommend this rental to anyone looking to stay in the area of the causeway and I hope to have a chance to return to the area soon myself.

Owner's Response: GLad you enjoyed yourself. The screen door is like that to prevent it breaking. Not everyone closes it properly and I've lost more than one door from the wind!! HOpe you'll come back again. Kay !

Pretty much in line with the description and earlier reviews....

  • 4 of 5

Great location. Not downtown Dunedin, which is a few miles south, but convenient to Honeymoon and Caladesi Islands; kayak & sailboat rentals on nearby Causeway. Bike rentals also nearby with super bike trail. Hiking as far as you want along the shore right out your door. English Pub and other eating places nearby, as is Publix and Walgreen's. Very enjoyable views from out back at anytime of day.

As to the unit..... wife says it's nicer than the photos. Kitchen small and compact with all you need except vitals. Antique furniture mixed with modern. Everything worked. Be advised that in heat of Summer, the a/c must be cranked down in order to cool the upstairs bedrooms. There is one parking space.....my son was in a unit at other end of the island, and it's apparent that parking is a problem everywhere. The only weakness IMO was the smaller bedroom....one small table lamp, not good for reading. For non-TV'ers, a reading chair, floor lamp, and oscillating fan would make the room much more hospitable. The screened patio is nice, but could also use a fan.

Lawn, beach chairs and umbrella, along with some kids caliber fishing gear in the screen room.

As described, this is a Townhouse, so you have a full flight of stairs. Luggage up/luggage down, plus accessing bedrooms. Anyone that has problems with same, would be advised to think twice before renting this unit. I'm 80 and it was not a problem, but I was definitely cautious. Been a long time since I've had small children around, but I'd consider the stairs in that situation also.

Owner uses VRBO reservation and payment system, which works very well for communication, payment, etc. She was kind enough to allow early check-in as no tenants checking-out that day.

Fishing.... I'm a flats kayak fisherman and thought about taking my yak. Glad I didn't. Water access not possible from sea wall. Son's unit supplied yaks and launch ramp, so used his to fish from unit out towards two mangrove islands. Good trout fishing and probably some reds around. Saw two 4 ft. blacktip sharks. Another option is to rent yaks on the Causeway and paddle to the non-motorized zone around Caladesi Island.

We've rented VRBO in FL, although we live there, and other States for years. Serenity by the Sea amenities is a 3.5 in comparison, but gets a solid 4 for location, convenience, views, and owner's cooperation. You can't go wrong if your needs fit the description.

Wonderful Stay

  • 4 of 5

We have stayed numerous times at the high-rise condos south of Clearwater Beach. This time we thought we would have a change of scene and stay in Dunedin. Serenity by the Sea sounded worth a try. When we arrived it was exactly what we were looking for in terms of atmosphere. It does not have the pizaz of south Clearwater condos but can be considered quaint and homey. There is a screened in porch with washer/dryer and the sea wall is about 15 feet away. There is a small table where we set up the umbrella. We found ourselves spending a lot of time back there.

There were several fishing poles provided, but I brought my own. I caught pinfish and used them to catch numerous small sharks for those who like excitement. Two dolphins came by each day and there was all kinds of wildlife and beautiful sunsets. We rented bikes and rode up and down the Pinellis Trail which is beautiful. Dunedin and only a few minutes away. Very relaxing! We would do this again!

Our Winter in Dunedin Florida

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in Dunedin at this condo for 2 months. It is a 2 bedroom unit and it fit us perfectly. We used the second bedroom as an office, but it could have accommodated another couple. The condo is wonderfully appointed with antique and newer furniture plus the kitchen was recently remodeld with new appliances & granite counters. The location on Ward Island was perfect for us because it was adjacent to the road to Honeymoon Beach plus from the back porch we looked out on St Joseph's Sound where we kayaked and saw dolphins nearly everyday. Additionally the town of Dunedin was a grat resource. There is a bike trail that runs thru it all the way to Tarpon Springs to the North and St Petersberg to the south for about a 40 mile ride. The town is small and filled with restaurants and shops. but not with the traffic of Clearwater. Another benefit was the Toronto Blue Jays spring training ball field was a 5 minute walk from the center of town.. All in all it was a great place to spend March and April, and the landlord was also very attentive to any needs that we had.

Perfect.

Quiet little townhouse community. Nice place to walk your dog. We had an issue with the air conditioner but it was fixed within hours. Place has nice little kitchen to cook a few meals to save some money. A small gas grill. The Publix down the road has cylinders for at Hwy 19 and Curlew road. Great views cannot describe what you see from the upper porch and ground level porch. Fishing? The guy two doors down caught a 5 1/2 foot bull shark. Yes I was envious. We caught a lot of catfish and smaller fish. Easy walk to small park across the causeway blvd before the bridge on the south side of road. The bridge and causeway are a good place to walk a dog also. Actually wore my dog out. I did not think it was possible. It is a mile give or take. Sunset views from this place are really good. Would love to warn you about this place but I can't.
