Entertaining family and friends is a delight with the open-design gourmet kitchen, great room and dining areas which provide plenty of room for relaxation and dining. Enjoy the panoramic views from the 4 bedroom suites, private porches and decks or from the great room...Even the kids get to enjoy the views from the bonus loft bedroom area!

Treat yourself to nature's majestic beauty by watching the sunrise or sunset from inside the great room or out on the deck. For a perfect end to your day in the mountains, enjoy the warmth and beauty of the stone fireplace or watch a movie on the 65” smart HDTV theater room. The kids will never be bored with the XBOX, Wii or Playstation ready HDTVs. In addition, the entire family can enjoy some foosball, play board games, or simply star-gaze.

This home comfortably sleeps 12 with 4 Bedroom Suites each with private bathrooms which provide for added privacy for families and friends traveling together. The upstairs has 2 queen sized suites, each with private bathrooms (one with shower and the other with a shower/bath combo), and a loft with 4 twin beds (2 single twins and 1 bunk bed). On the main floor, the master bedroom suite has a queen sized bed and a separate bathroom with double vanities and an all glass shower. On the ground floor, the guest bedroom suite sports a full sized bed, and has a bathroom with shower/bath combo. One half bath is located on main level by the great living room. Located in the prestigious Twin Creek Village community, at 7500 feet, the home is minutes away from golfing, shopping, dining, movie rentals, and grocery stores. The Martinez canyon trails are walking distance from the home for hiking, biking and cross country skiing. In addition, the Wolf Creek Ski Area is less than 35 minutes away while Durango Purgatory Mountain Resort is an hour’s drive. After a big day of outdoors activities, hit the Hot Springs just 10 minutes away in downtown Pagosa Springs!

We have found that our guests enjoy the remoteness of being in the mountains and away from it all including associated distractions of daily life and as such, although we do provide WIFI and access to movies on Netflix, Amazon etc., there is no live TV on the property. Music can be accessed for both living rooms from Pandora or other free music services.

This rocky mountain home is surrounded by outdoor adventure: Skiiing, snowmobiling, ATV, 4 Wheeling, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking & whitewater rafting, fishing, horse riding, golfing and at the end of it all, relaxing in the natural hot springs. The sky is the limit with 3 Million acres of National Forest surrounding this rocky mountain lodge. The real log construction and exposed logs throughout the home and panoramic views will put you in the mood the minute you walk in.

About Hans & Norma

We are a family of 5. We love to travel the world. Colorado is one of our favorite places with its wide open spaces and soaring mountains.

Hans & Norma purchased this lodge in 2013

Why Hans & Norma chose Southwestern Colorado

When we first visited Pagosa Springs we fell in love with the majestic mountains and the friendly nature of locals. We decided to build our family vacation home here so our family could enjoy the wonderful surroundings and all the healthy activities such as biking, hiking, rafting, horse riding, cross country skiing, fishing etc.

We enjoy sharing our cabin and it surroundings with a diversity of guests and so we have set base rates to be affordable to smaller families with 6 or less guests and at the same time accessible to larger groups via an additional fee per person per day.

Property is one of the best in the area at an incredible value.

What makes this lodge unique

We are surrounded on 3 sides by the San Juan National Forest, on the continental divide, in the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains.

Just 30 minutes away is the Wolf Creek Ski Area providing a world class skiing experience and the most snow in Colorado! The town of Pagosa Springs is located just east of here and is home to the Pagosa Hot Springs, the deepest and largest natural hot springs in the world nestled beside the San Juan River providing a a perfect respite after a day of outdoor adventure. Nearby is Chimney Rock National Monument (the newest in the U.S.) providing an archeological adventure into the history of ancient civilizations that occupied our area. Other attactions include the Southern Ute Indian Reservation and its Sky Ute Casino and Resort. Durango, Colorado is 60 miles west and is home to the historic Durango-Silverton narrow guage railway, Fort Lewis College, and the Durango/La Plata County Airport which offers commercial airline service to major cities and international connections. Also not far away is the 25 mile-long Navajo Lake which offer many water sport and boating choices. This area of the country also allows access to many attractions within a day's drive, such as Great Sand Dunes National Park to the east and Mesa Verde National Park to the west.

We have found that our guests enjoy the remoteness of being in the mountains and away from it all including associated distractions of daily life and as such, although we do provide WIFI and access to movies on Netflix, Amazon etc., there is no live TV on the property.

We had a great time, the house was better than expected. Pictures don't do it justice. Its close enough to the town and ski resort but far away enough that your not too close to other people. House had everything we needed.

Our group had a fantastic stay!

  • 5 of 5

Our group had a fantastic stay. The area has tons of trails for snowmobiling and the property had more than sufficient room for our snowmobiles. The home is clean, comfortable, and everything is new. It has beautiful views and is close to town. Highly recommended!

It was so beautiful, it looked like a Christmas Card!!!

  • 5 of 5

Dear Hans and Norma,

Our family loved staying here in your beautiful home. It was even more gorgeous than we expected - decorated perfectly, too. Our 15 and 18 year old boys skied every day, and our 21 year old daughter enjoyed a massage and the hot springs. We had Thanksgiving dinner here, and the next morning we woke up to a blanket of snow! It was so beautiful, it looked like a Christmas card.

Thank you,

Chris, Sheila, Chloe, Brandon, and Collin Carnahan

Charming Cabin and Town of Pagosa Springs

  • 5 of 5

Hans & Norma,

We had the absolute BEST experience in this lovely cabin. Spent a wonderful time snowboarding, sledding, exploring this charming little town of Pagosa Springs. It was the perfect holiday for us and we will definitely be coming back!!! Thank you for the great hospitality. Until then...

Great view with that log cabin feel.

  • 4 of 5

This property is very well maintained and upon arrival, very clean. The cleaners do a fantastic job and are very detailed. The house comes with all necessary items to make your stay comfortable. The kitchen is loaded with everything you will need to cook and the grill works great. The house is a typical log cabin which we were thrilled with since that was what we were looking for. The view is great no matter what time of day it is.

The driveway is a on a downhill grade so you must be careful if it snows that you do not back down the driveway or you may slide down. There is ample kitty litter and salt in this house though so that if it snows you can spread this on the driveway. There is an alarm system which is easy to figure out so no safety concerns.

The owner is very particular about no shoes in the house and has some other signs that we think could be a little less obvious. The signs take away from the warmth of the cabin. I do however understand that part of the reason that the house is so neat is that people do read the signs and care for the house, it just seems that the signs could be a little less obvious.

Some things you may want to consider. There is no TV connection here at the house. We were disappointed as we could not catch the AFC or NFC championship games until we found it online and broadcast onto the TV. A bit of a hassle but we were able to watch. Other than that we did not miss having TV or Cable channels for the week, it was actually a welcome break...we talked and played games, imagine that.

The beds are a bit hard but we had a good night rest anyway.

The owner is on top of any problems you may have. We had issue with the internet and fireplace but both were handled very promptly.

The town of Pagosa springs is good for one thing...Walmart Superstore. We were not impressed with the town and pretty much used it as a place to get groceries. The house is convenient however for our purposes...skiing at Wolf Creek, the place with the most snow in Colorado. You will love skiing in Wolf Creek and if you are planning on skiing there this is really the only place to stay. The roads were well maintained to the mountain and our trips back and forth were safe. Maybe there is more to do in the town than we realize but some of our group did not ski and were not thrilled with the town.

Would we stay here again...Yes, if we were to ski Wolf Creek again.

Owner's Response: Dear Brian, Thank you for the review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay! We appreciate your comments. During winter there are a great number of activities in the area among them are downhill skiing, cross country skiing , snow shoeing, snowmobiling, husky dog sledding (Pagosa Dogsled Adventures), sleigh riding or just simply enjoying the hot springs in downtown Pagosa Springs. Wolf creek ski resort is 40 minutes away and Purgatory ski resort in Durango is 60 minutes from the home. Cross country skiing is accessible throughout the neighborhood. Our spring, summer and fall seasons are equally spectacular with a full array of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, horse riding, fishing in the numerous lakes in the area, tubing and river rafting on the San Juan river, 4 wheeling, ATV riding in the SanJuan forest that surrounds us or just dining on our deck and enjoying the panoramic views! We have found that our guests enjoy the remoteness of being in the mountains and away from it all including associated distractions of daily life and as such, although we do provide WIFI and access to movies, daily recorded TV shows and news on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu etc., there is no traditional live TV on the property (as described on our listing). Music can be accessed for both living rooms from Pandora or other free music services. We have also a Bluetooth speaker which is handy for playing music from your mobile devices. The mattresses in the home are new Doctor's Choice brand from the Denver Mattress Company and provide for excellent support and restful sleep due to their unique combination of support and comfort. This is the reason you slept so well!!! Regardless, we do have a variety of beds with different softness in the home. An earlier review by our guests last fall described our bed selection quite aptly. Our past guests have been quite happy with our suggestions during their stay including keeping shoes at door as this keeps the home so much cleaner during their stay. In fact a number of parents have thanked us about the tasteful decoration including the uplifting & caring framed messages throughout the home. There are so many things to do in Pagosa Springs, especially if you are a nature lover and outdoors person. We would love to have you back for our Spring, Summer or Fall seasons! Sincerely, Hans & Norma
