The kids will never be bored with the XBOX, Wii or Playstation ready HDTVs. In addition, the entire family can enjoy some foosball, play board games, or simply star-gaze.

This home comfortably sleeps 12 with 4 Bedroom Suites each with private bathrooms which provide for added privacy for families and friends traveling together. The upstairs has 2 queen sized suites, each with private bathrooms (one with shower and the other with a shower/bath combo), and a loft with 4 twin beds (2 single twins and 1 bunk bed). On the main floor, the master bedroom suite has a queen sized bed and a separate bathroom with double vanities and an all glass shower. We have found that our guests enjoy the remoteness of being in the mountains and away from it all including associated distractions of daily life and as such, although we do provide WIFI and access to movies on Netflix, Amazon etc., there is no live TV on the property. Music can be accessed for both living rooms from Pandora or other free music services.

This rocky mountain home is surrounded by outdoor adventure: Skiiing, snowmobiling, ATV, 4 Wheeling, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking & whitewater rafting, fishing, horse riding, golfing and at the end of it all, relaxing in the natural hot springs. The sky is the limit with 3 Million acres of National Forest surrounding this rocky mountain lodge. The real log construction and exposed logs throughout the home and panoramic views will put you in the mood the minute you walk in.

About Hans & Norma

We are a family of 5. We love to travel the world. Colorado is one of our favorite places with its wide open spaces and soaring mountains.

Hans & Norma purchased this lodge in 2013

Why Hans & Norma chose Southwestern Colorado

When we first visited Pagosa Springs we fell in love with the majestic mountains and the friendly nature of locals. We decided to build our family vacation home here so our family could enjoy the wonderful surroundings and all the healthy activities such as biking, hiking, rafting, horse riding, cross country skiing, fishing etc.

We enjoy sharing our cabin and it surroundings with a diversity of guests and so we have set base rates to be affordable to smaller families with 6 or less guests and at the same time accessible to larger groups via an additional fee per person per day.

Property is one of the best in the area at an incredible value.

What makes this lodge unique

We are surrounded on 3 sides by the San Juan National Forest, on the continental divide, in the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains.

Just 30 minutes away is the Wolf Creek Ski Area providing a world class skiing experience and the most snow in Colorado! The town of Pagosa Springs is located just east of here and is home to the Pagosa Hot Springs, the deepest and largest natural hot springs in the world nestled beside the San Juan River providing a a perfect respite after a day of outdoor adventure. Nearby is Chimney Rock National Monument (the newest in the U.S.) providing an archeological adventure into the history of ancient civilizations that occupied our area. Other attactions include the Southern Ute Indian Reservation and its Sky Ute Casino and Resort. Durango, Colorado is 60 miles west and is home to the historic Durango-Silverton narrow guage railway, Fort Lewis College, and the Durango/La Plata County Airport which offers commercial airline service to major cities and international connections. Also not far away is the 25 mile-long Navajo Lake which offer many water sport and boating choices. This area of the country also allows access to many attractions within a day's drive, such as Great Sand Dunes National Park to the east and Mesa Verde National Park to the west.

We have found that our guests enjoy the remoteness of being in the mountains and away from it all including associated distractions of daily life and as such, although we do provide WIFI and access to movies on Netflix, Amazon etc., there is no live TV on the property.

What Great Memories in this Beautiful Cabin with Exquisite Sweeping Views

  • 5 of 5

Dear Hans & Norma,

our hearts are filled with gratitude as we prepare to leave this beautiful log cabin with its exquisite, sweeping views. Thank you for having us! What a blessing it was to stay here!

We have already been reminiscing about our wonderful time here in Pagosa! Our group of children thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the San Juan river + we loved watching the tubers floating down the river (especially when they wiped out :) The men + older boys in our group enjoyed fishing the San Juan, the Pagosa Lakes and Williams Reservoir. We also enjoyed eating their catch! We LOVED that there is so much space for the kids to play outside. They played outside for hours by the home. They will forever, remember this week spent with their cousins whom they rarely see.

On our final evening here, we dined at the DSP pizzeria. Would highly recommend it! We sat outside in their small patio. A perfect culmination of our time together. Thank you again for the opportunity!

nice cabin . thought it was funny only having 4 towels with five bathrooms.

  • 3 of 5

Thought it was funny to only have 4 towels with 5 bathrooms. but since there were only 4 of us it was no problem other than once we moved in there were 3 bathrooms with no towels. when we needed to wash our hands we had to use the bath towels, that were in the bedrooms. When we left the house the towels were put in the washer as per instruction. Were surprised to be billed $100.00 for the towels because the owners said they were stained. Even if these towels were stained and they were not, they did not appear to be expensive towels. $15.00 max per towel and there is no way that all four towels were stained. I think the owners are extremely tight, and the house is not as clean and nice as they think it is. They are defiantly in it for the money, be careful.

Owner's Response: Dear Stephen, We appreciate you staying with us and we hope you enjoyed the cabin after all. In our welcome packet, we encourage all of our guests to call us immediately should the home not be to their satisfaction. We wish you had taken the opportunity to let us know as we would have gladly had our property manager provide you with additional towels you needed. It is our standard policy to provide two sets of hand and bath towels in each of our bathrooms. We really apologize that this detracted from your stay and we have alerted our housekeeping. We hope everything else was in order. We do strive hard to provide our guests with a very memorable experience and as you can see from our past reviews most have a wonderful time. Just recently we added 5 bicycles, 2 pairs of deck porch lounge chairs for the enjoyment of our guests as well as a brand new set of towels. We never charge our guests for accidental breakage of kitchen utensils or for anything minor for that matter. In fact, we just request our guests to leave broken items on top of the kitchen counter so that our property manager may replace these during a guest’s stay or after check out. This has allowed our current and future guests to enjoy a high quality, well maintained and well supplied home. Our guests have been very diligent in letting us know of any issues and so we were surprised when you did not mention the damaged towels during your check out. When our housekeeping found the four stained towels, we sent you an email with pictures of the thoroughly stained towels as we hoped to get confirmation from you. Unfortunately, we we did not hear back from you either way. This is what made it difficult for us to comprehend your comments in your last sentence given you did not reply back to our inquires and you did not let us know of any issues upon arrival, during your stay or at checkout. Nonetheless, we apologize for the inconvenience of the charge, the towels were brand new high quality brand name towels and we wanted to be fair with our future guests who we would want to enjoy the same high end towels. Should you book with us again in the future, we would be glad to have you back for a positively memorable experience. Sincerely Hans
