About Paul Shackelford

I was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, but grew up in and currently reside in Northwest Ohio. I met my wife in Toledo, Ohio. We have been married for more than 30 years and have two daughters.

Paul Shackelford purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Paul Shackelford chose Tennessee

Being a native of Tennessee, I have long wanted to purchase property to enjoy during my visits to the area. Because I love this area so much, I wanted to share my property with family and friends. I also want to share the beauty of the mountains with newcomers or long time visitors of the Smoky Mountain region.

What makes this cabin unique

We chose this property for many reasons. We really enjoy the all-wood cabin and beautiful mountain view from the hot tub or upper balcony. This property offers a serene, peaceful experience, but is also located conveniently close to many major tourist attractions. It is about 20 minutes away from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, so there is always something near by to entertain you. So whether you are looking for a quiet, relaxing day in the mountains or an exciting day or evening in town, this is the perfect cabin for you!

Perfect setting,Roomy,Character, clean had all the things we needed to enjoy our stay. Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

From the beginning communication was perfect. He walked us through all the things we needed to know and how to get there. If you are looking for a great place this is it. Easy to get to gatlinburg and pigeon forge yet far enough away from the crowds. The cabin had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The hot tub was perfect after long days of hiking. The furniture was comfortable, views from the top porch were amazing. Every morning coffe and the mountains. What more can you ask. Paul was the best I have ever worked with when renting a place. He was proactive in giving all the info needed as opposed to me asking all the what about sand how to's. We def recommend this place. Our family of 6 (three teenagers) loved it.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest(s), We are happy you enjoyed your stay at our cabin. We strive to make our guests as comfortable as we would want to be. We try to give as much information as we can to our guests to make their time enjoyable and when questions do arrive, we try and stay on top of them. The location is something we have always liked as well - close enough to town but, yet far enough to enjoy the quietness of the mountains. We also enjoy the hot tub after a long day hiking or walking the town. Thank you for your review and we welcome you back at anytime. Sincerely, Paul and Cindy

Perfect for a weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was even better than the pictures. I do recommend not trying to find it in the dark, though. The views from the master bedroom are amazing, and the quiet location are worth every penny. We will be back for sure!

Romantic getaway for two

  • 5 of 5

When we arrived the cabin was extremely clean! The kitchen is well stocked for cooking if you decide to cook. I think there was a cd player/radio in every room of the house! We enjoyed the pool table as well! The hot tub was great for relaxing in the evenings. It was just my husband and myself staying so we only used the master bedroom. The bed is HUGE and we slept well. (There were really loud neighbors at another cabin that were being loud all night, but that's not the owner's fault. And they were on vacation so they're not always there.) There was even a hair dryer in the master bath! We weren't too far from everything; Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Smokey Mountain National Park. We rode our motorcycle to the cabin from Illinois and it wasn't too far from the famous "Tail of the Dragon"! The cabin is beyond beautiful and we hope to stay there again the next time we visit Tennessee!

Owner's Response: Tiffani, We are happy that the two of you had a great getaway. We take pride in the cleanliness of our cabin. We like it to be as if we were the renters and what we would expect it to be. We try do keep adding or changing items to make it as homey as possible. We are glad that you made it to the dragons tail, we recommend it to everyone that wants to enjoy the views of the mountain and want a thrill. We like being able to get to the towns and the park, but we like it's location for the quiet peacefulness (except for the occasional loud off in the distance vacationer) We look forward to your next stay at anytime. Thanks again for your awesome review. Paul & Cindy Shackelford

Loved our stay here! The cabin was clean and cool on our arrival. We spent time birding on the deck and enjoying the views. It's far enough away from the tourists in Gatlinburg but not annoyingly far. We spent time in the parks and it didn't feel too far away. The hot tub was perfectly clean and a real treat!

We loved Mountain Mischief!

  • 5 of 5

The driving directions to the cabin were easy to follow. We saw beautiful views while we were traveling to the cabin from Sevierville and Gatlinburg. You may want to drive slowly so you won't miss the wildlife sightings. We saw a wild turkey almost everyday. The cabin was very pretty and well maintained. We had plenty of room to relax. My family recommends this cabin to any vacationers. You will have a nice relaxing stay. Thanks to Paul and Cindy for letting others enjoy their cabin as they do.

We appreciate it!

- Natchitoches, Louisiana.
