We decided to buy at Kaanapali Shores about ten years ago. This has been a favorite destination for us starting a few decades. We make the trip at least two times, maybe three times a year. Our trips make it possible for us to keep close tabs on our condo and make sure the property is exactly as we expect it to be. Every time we visit Maui and Kaanapali Shores it confirms we made the right choice.
The ocean front resort has everything on site that you might need. Plus so much more within a short walking distance. As you drive around the island, you will notice it is the only resort with a manned full time security parking kiosk.
We love the fact that the resort is family friendly with two pools and plenty of lawn area. This is super important to us since we have a couple of grandchildren now, with one being born on Maui.
We don’t always take advantage of all the conveniences on location but it is sure nice to know they are all there without leaving the property. The store, restaurant, gym, movie kiosk, salon, flower shop, and concierge. We never seem to miss the Wednesday afternoon Hula show by the ocean pool.
When we were choosing a condo to buy the ocean view was important for us. To see the ocean while lying in bed or cooking in the kitchen is very special. There is also some other unexpected unique benefits that we didn’t realize when we bought our condo. The end unit has a window that faces the West Maui Mountains and the Kapalua Airport in the distance. This window also provides views of rainbows. Having an end unit is also quieter since other resort guests have no reason to pass by to get to their condo and you only have one neighbor to the side instead of both sides. Most guests might not appreciate having the rarely used stairs close by that takes you directly to parking. I am a stair guy and it is my part of my fun and exercise to use mainly three different stairways at the resort both leaving and returning to the condo.
It is always a pleasure to come back to the condo, after a day of enjoying the island of Maui. With the ocean view you never know what you might see. Sail boats, dinner cruises, humpback whales, kite surfers, canoes, sport fishing boats, white water waves, and the ever changing look of Moloka’i.
Our first time to Maui was simply amazing, condo was perfect for 2 people, local area was outstanding. Must do the road to Hana great experience. This state is by far the most beautiful we have ever seen. Local's are very helpful/friendly and polite. I could see why people vacation here. Thanks you all... Our holiday was so amazing we will return to paradise soon.
The Kaanapali Shores Studio 842 was the perfect place for my husband and I to stay on Maui! The condo was clean, well kept and had everything we needed including snorkeling gear, chairs and beach towels. We would cook breakfast in the morning and we had everything we needed to do so. The condo is close to everything we needed. The grocery store is directly across the street and there are plenty of nearby restaurants and beautiful beaches. Although the condo was not directly on the ocean the view from the lanai was perfect and the ocean was within a very short walking distance. We slept with the sliding glass door open every night. The ocean breeze was perfect for lulling us to sleep. The bed was soooo comfortable. When we got home my husband said we needed a new bed. :) We didn't rent a car but the bus was only $4 for a day pass. We took the bus, an uber or just walked the beach walk. Old Lahaina was fun to visit. There is tons of shopping on Front Street. I would highly recommend grabbing a bite to eat at Mala. The food was incredible and the view from the outside patio was stunning. Overall this was a great trip and the condo was everything we had hoped it would be. I would definitely recommend staying there and hope to come back and stay again soon!

This was our 6th time to Hawaii and our 3rd time to Maui. This was, by far the best accommodation - modern, clean, well equipped kitchen, great toiletries and a stunning ocean view. The check in and check out procedure was straightforward and the owners kindly allowed late checkout at no additional cost as the condo was not rented the following day. When we return to Maui, this will absolutely be our first choice for accommodation.
This condo was exactly as pictured. It was clean, well stocked with dishes, coffee/creamers, some shampoo/conditioners/lotion, and hair dryer. It was great that a previous visitor left nice beach chairs. Plus there was snorkeling gear, beach towels, umbrella, and insulated bags for bringing snacks to the beach. All of this was very appreciated.
The condo location was good and not so good. We definitely could see the ocean (as pictured in the photos). However, we couldn't have been any farther away from the beach. The location of this condo is that it is the very last condo in the building. We could not see or hear the crashing waves. The wind shook the sliding glass doors/screens so much every night that we had to wear earplugs in order to sleep. (We had friends staying in another unit in the same building (Unit 734) and they did not have the same wind exposure and they could see and hear the waves.) In the mornings, we could hear trash trucks or heavy vehicles and traffic. It didn't make for pleasant times relaxing on the lanai with coffee. For these reasons, I'd probably pay a little more and stay in another unit.
The resort itself was great but we only ate at the onsite restaurant once for breakfast. I recommend the Polynesian Fried Rice for breakfast. :)
My wife and I rented the condo for 2 weeks which ended up being to long for our liking. While the view of the ocean was nice, it was back from the beach area quite a bit, which wasn't viewable from the balcony. The size of the condo suited us well as there was just the 2 of us. The main pool is quite small for the size of the resort, but there is a smaller one that is usually quieter. The resort was located in a nice area of Maui. There is a shopping plaza directly accross from the resort with a great little cafe that serves awesome food. Overall though, we had a great time on this vacation and wish to thank Kanapali Beach Rentals for addressing any problems that we had.
On property: convenience store, other shops, Beach Club Restaurant, salon, small work-out room, business center, flower shop, massage therapy. This resort is located directly across the street from the Times Market Shopping Center where you will find several restaurants and shops. You can also stroll along the beach boardwalk to other resorts and restaurants.
