About the property

A Beautiful Plantation home with high quality finishes, heated pool, and hot tub

This magnificent home was built in 2004. It has an open floor plan with warm, inviting decor and gorgeous views from the large sunlit great room.

The great room features a vaulted wood beam ceiling and a gas fireplace. Two French patio doors lead to a large new Trex deck with a patio table and chairs where you can enjoy the beautiful view with your morning coffee.

The dining area offers a big table and comfortable chairs. There is an exceptional kitchen with custom-built cabinets. Stainless steel appliances, wine fridge, granite counters, and a wet bar make meal preparation a breeze. It is well stocked for any chef. The upstairs laundry room provides a washer and dryer.

Three master suites (2 king, 1 queen) - each with access to spacious decks have various bathroom amenities such as a jetted tub and a walk-in shower with double shower heads. 4th Bedroom has twin beds and its own bath and deck. A second living area can be used as an office or fifth bedroom with a daybed and trundle.

Indoor entertainment is provided by multiple TVs in every bedroom, a Playstation 3 console, and a computer.

Other amenities include free WIFI, a high chair & port-a-crib for the little ones.

Outside features include a private heated pool ($250/week to heat), a spa with low-powered relaxing jets, a hot/cold outdoor shower, a park style grill, and an outdoor sink with a fish cleaning station.

The pristine beach is a 2-minute walk away on the beach path next to the house, with no streets to cross.

About Owner

We live in Roswell, GA, a suburb of Atlanta. We visit our beach house about 3-4 times a year and regret leaving it each time we have to go back to our busy lives in the big city.

Owner purchased this house in 2013

Why Owner chose Florida

We first discovered the natural beauty and the pristine beaches of St George Island in 2011. We purchased our house in the Spring of 2013 - both of us had immediately agreed that "this one is for us" after only glancing at the pictures.

The Island offers a unique combination of uncrowded beaches, no high rises, great fishing, and an overall Old Florida feel that is becoming harder and harder to find.

We chose the Plantation for the added security of the 24-hour gated access, beautiful native vegetation, and park-like landscape maintenance. The Plantation also has special building restrictions and protective covenants to ensure very low building density. Having underground utility lines is a big plus as well.

Our house is one of the relatively newer ones built in the Plantation (2004), and up to the highest coastal construction standards. It has high grade Andersen windows and doors, a new Trex second level deck, custom kitchen cabinetry, new SS appliances. There is quality trim and finishes throughout.

We love our beach house and try our best to make sure that it is always in an excellent condition.

What makes this house unique

A beautiful, secluded white-sand beach for long walks, shelling, or just playing in the sand. Gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. An unbelievably clear night sky (when was the last time you saw the Milky Way in the city?). A private, heated pool and a hot tub for relaxing after a day at the beach.

The Plantation has a great new clubhouse with a three quarter Olympic size community swimming pool, shaded picnic area, and fitness room. Amenities also include three tennis courts, a privately owned/public use landing strip, and access to excellent fishing at Bob Sike's Cut. The are plenty of paved paths for bicyclists, jogging and walking enthusiasts.

St. George is close to historic Apalachicola, a quaint old town with art galleries, gift stores, restaurants, and the best oysters in the world.

Very pretty!

Pool ladder was broken when we arrived on Saturday. Didn't repair it until Wednesday. Hot tub didn't work well. Wagon to take to the beach was in very bad shape, one wheel busted! One cabinet door hanging from single hinge. What appeared to b black mold on ceiling in 3rd floor bedroom. Chair broken on front porch. Railing loose in several spots on upper level. Sand all over floors upon arrival. The house was well equipped and worked well for our family. The short walk to the beach was shady the majority of the way and not very buggy. We absolutely love SGI! This was our 4th trip to the island and The Plantation and we will definitely be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you again for being our guests. We are very surprised to see a disappointing review, especially after all our other guests have been very happy with their stay. * We immediately ordered new steps for the pool ladder after you reported that one is broken (our previous guests had not made us aware, so we had no way to know). The steps were replaced with stronger, metal ones, the same day they arrived in the mail. * The hot tub works fine but the jets are not strong, something that we apologize for but we do tell our guests about in advance. * The wagon is only 2 years old...unfortunately the humid, salty air must have taken its toll. We actually used the cart every day the week after you and all four wheels seemed to work fine. If you guys had fixed that - thanks! * The cabinet door hinge has been re-fastened with longer screws and is not going to fall again - took care of it myself. * I discovered the broken lounge chair as well last week and removed it as it is a health hazard. Unfortunately we had not been made aware that it was broken, we would certainly not have left it there. * I personally re-secured with 3" stainless steel screws several of the balusters on the upstairs deck last week. Tested all balusters and they are now solid. * The discoloration on the upstairs bedroom ceiling is certainly not mold! It appears to be dust and will be taken care of. We take very seriously the well-being of our guests and our own. This is our personal house and we stay in it many days every year, we would never tolerate mold anywhere in it. We love our beach house, take pride in it, and do our best to keep it in a top shape. Thank you for making us aware of the items above so we can address them and make our future guests happy!

As Good As It Gets

Our week stay was perfect. We always base our review on cleanliness and this home was exceptionally clean. It fit our family of ten so well. Lots of room to move around and we never felt cramped. Beautifully decorated and comfy. A short walk to a great beach. Having the beach cart that was supplied was a blessing. We would most definitely recommend As Good As It Gets. Thanks for the memories!!

Perfect Vacation Home!

Our family had an amazing stay at this beautiful home! It comes with everything you need, from a well stocked kitchen to pool toys. Short walk to the gorgeous beaches. My children especially enjoyed the private pool and hot tub. We would definitely stay here again!

Great week at the Beach

The home was great for our group. Difficult to see the ocean, but the walk to the beach was very short. House was well equipped for a large group..Did not find a can opener, but we did not request it from the property mgr. The one time we called , as we could not find the coffee filters, the mgr assisted us immediately. Each room was very comfortable and everything was as it was described.. An easy and comfortable home for a week. The pool was very nice. My only suggestion is the hot tub (which we did not use and was partially covered) appeared to be breeding mosquitoes, and the walk to the beach through the path was overloaded with them, so we walked around the road to the beach. This may just be the time of year, and there was not much of a breeze on several days. Possibly take a mosquito foggier and lots of repellent!

Regarding the hot tub - thanks for bringing that to my attention. It absolutely shouldn't be breeding mosquitoes! We are addressing this with our pool maintenance company and making sure something like this doesn't happen again. Thanks!

Tax Rate 9.0%

Pool heat is an additional $250/week. The pool is not heated when the outside temperature in a 24-hour period averages below 60° or if the average water temperature of the pool is above 82°.

Cancellation Policy: Once the reservation deposit has been received, there will be no refunds given unless:

a. The home can be re-rented for the same dates and rental rate. A 10% cancellation fee of the total rental amount will be deducted from the advance rental payment. If it is not possible to re-rent the home for the same rental rate, the 10% cancellation fee and any difference in the re-booking rate will apply. If the home remains vacant for those dates, the entire deposit will be forfeited or the reservation may be reinstated;

b. The state or local authorities order mandatory evacuations in a “Tropical Storm/Hurricane Warning area”. In the event such an order is issued, Homeowner will refund:
• Any unused portion of rent from a guest already registered
• Any advance rents collected or deposited for a reservation that is scheduled to arrive during the “Hurricane Warning” period.

c. Guests are welcome to change their vacation dates if the new dates are for the same calendar year and the rates are of equal or greater value. In these circumstances, Homeowner must be contacted 60 days prior to arrival;

d. After arrival, there should be no expectation of refunds.
