In the locality of Scilly are several pubs and restaurants all with great atmosphere literally a stones throw from the cottage. The Spainard pub has great food all day and the Man Friday is an award-winning restaurant. A scenic harbour walk starts on your doorstep, passes through Summercove village and the past the atmospheric Bullman pub and Toddies restaurant (upstairs) which are well worth a visit and finishes at the imposing Charles Fort.
I stayed in the Harbor View Cottage from January 4 through February 2nd of this year. Everything about it was wonderful! Kathy, the owner of the cottage, was incredibly helpful and very nice. The cottage itself was cozy and comfortable with all the creature comforts one could ask for. The views from the two huge bay windows (one in the bedroom and one in the living room) were spectacular and I could walk everywhere I wanted to go. Down the hill from the cottage was the Scilly Walk and Summer Cove beyond. The Spaniard Inn was warm and welcoming and had fabulous Irish music two nights a week! Kinsale is charming and the people are so very friendly and kind. I cannot wait to go back.
Our stay at the Harbor View Cottage was incredible. The views from the living room and bedroom bay windows are so beautiful. We walked into the town of Kinsale every day. The cottage was a perfect fit for my husband and me. It was clean and well kept. Also, having a washer and dryer was a plus! The Spaniard is a great pub right up the road - it had the best clam chowder we had all week! We even got to see a rainbow over the bay from the roof of the cottage. This was a magical week for my husband and me and we hope to visit again someday. Thank you!
Harbour View has everything you need for a beautiful and relaxing stay in Kinsale. The cottage is nicely decorated, with amazing views and all the comforts of home. The location is perfect - you can park your car and literally walk everywhere to enjoy all the town has to offer. We walked into town every day, sometimes several times a day, and also walked out to Charles Fort and The Bulman Bar a couple times (it's a bit steep around Summercove). Kinsale has an amazing choice of cafes, restaurants and pubs as well as shops and art galleries. Wonderful days spent walking along the quays, watching boats come and go, stopping for coffee or adult beverages, and deciding where to eat (when not cooking at home) - absolute heaven. If you're planning a trip to Kinsale, you must make this your base ! Thank you, Kathy - we will return....
The location was perfect: quiet steep street with a lovely view of the estuary and a great pub just up the road. The town of Kindle is a five-minute walk away and has everything we needed, including good restaurants and a charming harbor. Kathy was very responsive and made us comfortable right away. Definitely worth a repeat visit.
This cottage is charming and in a beautiful location. We spent a week here and would come back again. This is a good location for exploring southern Ireland; Kathy is a wealth of information on places to go and things to see. The town of Kinsale is wonderful and we enjoyed the Scilly Walk being close by. This was our favorite place in all of Ireland.
We were blessed in everyway by choosing this lovely, cosy cottage and the Indian summer weather. The cottage is in an idyllic setting with stunning views over the harbour from both the bedroom and livingroom. It is equipped with all that is required for an enjoyable stay. We did not cook very much apart from breakfast. Who would with the Spaniard inn on our doorstep with excellent food and music and friendly barstaff. We went to Mizen Head and did the Sandycove walk as recommended by Kathys husband. This was in addition to the Charle fort walk which begins just outside Harbour View and Compass Hill forthe most stunning view of very picturesque Kinsale. We had stayed in Kinsale self catering twice previously and this was by far our favourite place to stay. sad to leave and will return.
Kinsale is a vibrant and picturesque harbour town with many restaurants, pubs and cafes set in historic and gaily painted, narrow, winding streets which make for delightful walking. Kinsale also has a rich and colourful history with forts built for King Charles and James lining the harbour. Historical walking tours are on offer as our boat trips round the harbour or just browse the many art galleries, museums, historic buildings and gift and craft shops. For the active there is deep-sea fishing, sailing, cycling, windsurfing and kayaking and many other activities. Golfing is available at the spectacular links at the Old Head of Kinsale, or nearer by at Ringenane or Farrangalway. Beaches are in abundance with a fantastic surfing beach at Garrettstown just 5 miles away or a protected cove at Castlepark just 1.5 miles away and within walking distance of Kinsale. Whatever your pleasure from history, to restaurants, to pubs, to shops, to activities Kinsale has it in abundance.
