As one renter said: 'My husband and I have stayed in many VRBO residences all over the world...but this one was exceptional. It is first and foremost a home. We loved the contemporary layout, the ease of access to the freeway, the beautiful garden that we could gaze at during our breakfast and the deck area where we could have a BBQ dinner and enjoy the lovely flowers. The home has a cooks kitchen and great dining area. Then there is a relaxing and cozy living room with as wonderful, large sofa. But the most amazing piece was the super comfortable 'sleep number' bed! This home is a beautiful haven in a busy world.'
Another renter said: 'The house met our needs perfectly. It has a welcoming, family feel to it. It is comfortable and well kept up. The kitchen is well-equipped. The satellite TV package carries more channels than one could wish for. The house has WiFi, which enabled us to conduct business from long-distance. The backyard is private and meticulously cared for. It is a pleasant place to spend time or to view from inside the house through glass doors. A morning newspaper was even part of the deal.'
And another renter put it this way: 'The house was beyond our expectations, and all the amenities of a true home are available. The house is well-appointed, with a great variety of books and music on discs. The nearby market and the coffee and doughnut shop were mandatory stops on my morning walks in the neighborhood.'
My career was in education. I was headmaster of two schools for 30 years. When I retired, I moved to Palo Alto to be close to my two daughters and their families.
The picture is of me and my daughter Stephanie, who is General Manager of the Cardinal Hotel in downtown Palo Alto. She would be the main contact person for renters staying in my home.
John 'Scott' McLeod purchased this house in 2009
Proximity to Stanford, weather, college town, major shopping center, and quiet and secure property all make this a remarkable and appealing location.
Modern design and excellent condition of home, secure and quiet location, outside deck and attractive lawn, and easy access to 101 are among the many benefits of staying in my home.
The grandparents stayed 3 wonderful weeks in this great home. The fully equipped open kitchen next to the dining room with large table for dining with the full family worked very well. From the dining room you have direct access via the large sliding door into the very well maintained garden. Nice grass for the grandchildren and beautiful flowers attracting the hummingbirds; wonderful to watch from the outside furniture on the deck. The very comfortable bed (with adjustable comfort level) provided exceptional sleep: inside it is very quiet. There is also a comfortable living room, with great books and large screen TV. This lovely home feels "home" and it shows Scott is taking great care of his place. Would definitely recommend this home!
We spent three months at this lovely home this winter to be near our daughter and her family, and we plan to be back next year. It's a very comfortable home and has all the amenities that you could want. The kitchen was fully equipped for cooking, and the large dining room table comfortably seated our dinner guests. The beautiful back yard was filled with flowers and the songs of birds, and we kept the sliding screen door open to enjoy it most days. We ate some meals outside on the deck and enjoyed family games in the generous yard. Inside the house there is a comfortable living room and large screen TV and a bedroom with the world's most comfortable bed and yet another large screen TV. The neighborhood is quiet and you can take a 1/2 mile walk to a terrific neighborhood coffee house, the Zoe Cafe, for coffee and goodies. Go one mile further to the center of Palo Alto for lunch. The owner and his family that manages the home for renters are wonderful people and easy to contact with questions. You will not be disappointed with this rental!
This home provided the best location for my month long stay in Menlo Park to welcome a new grandbaby and visit with my young family. The house was well appointed, books, music, and welcome treats Scott provided added to the comfortable feeling throughout my stay in the quiet space and lovely relaxing yard.
I was able to assume grandmother duties nearby and retreat to "my home" to refresh my energy.
The nearby market and the coffee and doughnut shop were mandatory stops on my morning walks in the neighborhood. The garden is lovely and the fragrance of the citrus trees and roses were an added incentive to call me to return on my next visit to the area.
This is our second stay
We had a wonderful time
The house is very comfortable and is close to both Palo Alto downtown and Menlo Park with an easy access to 101 if you want to go to San Francisco
Scott is very accommodating and we really felt at home
We will definitely cone back on our next visit
My husband and I have stayed in many VRBO residences all over the world… but this one was exceptional. It is first and foremost a home. And we stayed for about a month and at the end were sad to leave. We loved the contemporary layout, the ease of access to the freeway, the beautiful garden that we could gaze at during our breakfast and the deck area that we could have a BBQ dinner and enjoy the beautiful flowers.
The home has a cooks kitchen and great dining area. Then there is a relaxing and cozy living room with a wonderful and comfortable sofa. But the most amazing piece was the super comfortable "sleep number" bed!
A beautiful, comfortable and relaxing haven in a busy world.
We were in the house for almost 3 weeks. Our purpose was to visit our daughter, husband, and new born grandson only 10 minutes away in Palo Alto. So the location was perfect for us. The house was immaculate when we arrived. Scott met us and gave us a grand tour with all the details needed for a comfortable stay. The bedroom was roomy with lots of closet space. It included a sleep number bed which proved to both my wife and my liking--since we got to choose the hardness/softness we liked. The living area was large and open. The back yard was delightful. We ate out there almost every evening we ate at home. I enjoyed several conference calls seated in the rocking chair which I moved to the shade. If you have to do business while traveling, there couldn't be a better setting. The neighborhood was nice. I enjoyed my early morning walk all over Menlo Park and Palo Alto. When we visit again, we will surely try to stay in this lovely home.
My home is close to Stanford University (5 mi.), Palo Alto (4 mi.), and downtown Menlo Park (2.5 mi.) Menlo Park and Palo Alto are attractive, easy-to-navigate college towns with fine restaurants, multiple coffee shops, sports bars, boutique shopping, and movie theaters.
