Texas Estate Rental Photos and Description

10 Bedrooms, 10 Bathrooms. Main house sleeps 20. Guest house sleeps 5.

This spectacular estate perched on Lake Travis transcends the Hill Country near Lago Vista…whisking you off to a stately chateau in the heart of France. The column-flanked, tree-lined approach to the classic circular drive sets the stage for the grand home.

This 10 bedroom, 10 bathroom home sits on 12.6 acres with 800 feet of water front. Celebrating the natural stone of both Texas and France, the exterior and interior of the home features detailed stonework custom carved onsite by a French sculptor. Grand columns with custom Corinthian capitals, traditional stone balustrades and two-story waterfall adorn the entrance.

Before even entering the home, one’s eyes are drawn to the surroundings on which the house sits. Smooth lawns, formal plantings and spectacular lake views all add to the feeling of being at a European retreat.

An undeniable focal point of the entry is the large waterfall that flows from a massive window into a decorative pond, adding a soft ambient sound to the entrance.

Indoors, the waterfall continues as it enhances the formal living with the same waterfall ambiance, a step over river, and special lighting for the evenings.

Entry grandeur is continued inside the house, from the sweeping iron and stone staircases to the limestone arches, and dark-wood accented ceilings that carry you into the formal sunken living area. Creamy walls with stone accents and tumbled travertine floors create a cool, elegant feel, while a large two-story wall of windows captures remarkable views. An adjacent full service wet bar, and hidden wine cellar (with handcrafted stone walls) is perfectly located for service to the north-east outdoor terrace.

Escape to France itself from this covered terrace, with walls and ceilings cloaked in ivy. Ideal for relaxing evenings of indulging wine or retreating from the Texas sunlight, this terrace captures the best breezes and views, year-round.

Back indoors a formal dining room showcases mesquite-floors, a small European fireplace and plenty of windows to enjoy the views, it’s a perfect place to linger over a meal with friends.

Across the living room lies a study/office that transcends to an upstairs library. Custom maple paneling covers both the walls and ceiling, which features an iron-railed opening to the second story, flooding the room with light.

The kitchen is fit for a chef; warm natural-wood cabinets contrast beautifully with the limestone and granite accents. The spacious island holds an extra-large sink; an additional sink, high-end appliances and a huge walk-in pantry. An open breakfast bar allows the cook to chat with family at the adjacent breakfast room.

Retreat in luxury to the airy master bedroom, which enjoys lake views from every window. Cool nights call for a fire in the fireplace, while warm evenings invite a nightcap on the breezy private terrace. In the master bath, thoughtful details combine with elegant materials to make the space a pleasure. Two vanities plus a separate makeup counter allow room to spread out; a unique mirrored freestanding wall is an inspired touch. A glass wall encloses the oversized shower with 10 separate shower heads including an overhead rain can. Linger in the corner tub overlooking the vista, or splash in the walk-in travertine shower. No need to share closet space; huge his and hers closets with custom built-in storage mean everyone has plenty of room.

The lower level south wing accommodates four additional bedrooms, a billiards room, a full kitchen, family room, and exercise room. Two large bedrooms with walk-in closets and en-suite baths complete the second floor south wing.

While the inside is stunning, this home was designed to enjoy the extraordinary scenery outdoors. With sun decks and a crow’s nest balcony from the roof there is always a place to relax and feel the breeze.

Landscaped with a nod to a more formal time, the smooth, manicured lawns are accented with gracious walkways, cypress trees and a grand stone staircase leading down to the negative-edge pool. With the appearance of spilling in to Lake Travis, the pool is a breathtaking finale to the grounds.

Precisely situated and built to maximize the breeze and sun schedule, no detail has gone unnoted in this palatial estate. For those that enjoy European luxury at its finest and have the heart of a Texan, this incredible home offers the best of both worlds.

We have a boat dock that accommodates our 50 ft yacht and has plenty of space to tie jet skiis or another boat.

We are here to accommodate you and offer concierge-like service to our guests! If you need something just ask.

Guests love to hire our chefs - they take care of everything for your dining pleasure.

Guestbook comments from the owner

To Wendy and Paul

Thank you so much for having this facility available for my 90th Birthday celebration with my family. I am so grateful to have the loving family that sponsored this event. My Mother lived to be 93 years of age but was unable to enjoy her last few years. I am the last of my generation and to have three wonderful and caring children is so great.

Thanks again - this is such a beautiful property.

The best of the best

  • 5 of 5

Normally I do not take the time to post a review, but in this case I just had to. I have never seen a more beautiful property in my life, from the meandering driveway encased in flowers to the outside waterfall and immaculate grounds. We had 4 families with several children and we could have arrived with just our bathing suits and been fine. There is nothing that this home does not provide. Truly it was as if we had our own private 5 star resort, completely private with every amenity that one could possibly think of including all of the extras required for young children. Every room had a spectacular view of the lake, and all of the bedrooms have their own balcony. Their chefs, Mike and Linda stocked the home before we arrived - very beneficial as we came from all different states - and prepared and served a wonderful dinner under the stars. The owners took their time to explain how everything worked and we did not see them unless we called with a request. Our entire family is still talking about our time together. This trip was the best of the best. Thanks to the owners Paul and Wendy.

Amazing corporate retreat location

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough good things about the property. We selected this property for our corporate retreat because we needed a lot of bedrooms, bathrooms, and breakout spaces for our discussion sessions. We had 25 people there and, with sufficient air mattresses in tow, we had sleeping accommodations for everyone. I will say the couches aren't meant for sleeping, so you will definitely want to bring air mattresses if your party exceeds the number of beds. The many living spaces and outdoor spaces were perfect for us. We ranged from full group meetings with all 25 people present in the dining room to 6-7 small breakout sessions. When we were all together we had plenty of space and clear lines of sight to our discussion leaders, and when we broke apart we had plenty of separation between groups to have engaged and focused discussions without being distracted by the next group. I don't think we could have found a better place for our team to head to.

Paul and Wendy were great hosts, provided all the information we needed for shopping and catering ahead of our team's arrival, and walked us through the property to show us where everything was (which takes a while in this house!). They were gracious and helpful.

I hope we get to return next year!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your wonderful review however we are very disappointed that you were not honest about the number of guests that you had on the property. We allow 20 in the main house and an additional 5 if the guesthouse is also rented and NO blow ups. You assured us that the guesthouse was not needed and your contract stated 19 guests. We have HOA regulations and a septic system that is sensitive. Several times you assured us that you number had not changed and you would be under the 20 person limit. We are not pleased to find out this way that your plans were different from the beginning. Regards Paul and Wendy

Stunning property!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place! The grounds and views are incredible, and the accommodations are absolutely stellar! We had a group of 8 adults and 5 children, and everyone was thrilled throughout the stay. Paul and Wendy also have all kinds of toys and bikes and books available for the kids, so they were easily entertained! It was such a pleasant stay, and Paul and Wendy are such great hosts; I cannot wait to come back to visit this wonderful place!

Great for Team Builder

  • 5 of 5

This house was the perfect site for our off-site team builder. Spacious, plenty of rooms to accommodate our group, and spots to do group activities.

It really was a perfect stay. Paul and Wendy were amazing to work with and everything went so smoothly!

The property itself is well maintained and just amazing. The house is close enough to town for a quick grocery trip and then not too far from the famous Blue Bonnet Cafe.

I absolutely recommend this property!

Absolutely Awesome

  • 5 of 5

Thanksgiving week with family--Grandma and Grandpa, four families including kids from 1-14; twenty-two of us in all and an idyllic week! Paul and Wendy are the ultimate hosts--every amenity imaginable is provided. As others have noted, the beautiful pictures online don't begin to convey the grandeur of the house and grounds. Where to begin...inside we enjoyed the pool table, foosball, piano, games, toys for every age group (from dress-up clothes to trucks), dining space for all 22 of us, "play" areas, conversation areas, private spaces and gathering places. Outside we had plenty of room to both run and relax--football games, four square, great sandbox, hours spent in the pool and hot tub, verandas galore. Views are spectacular; a few days of rain did not "dampen" anyone's spirits as the house is so large no one felt cooped up. Kitchen is stocked with all the basics you might need--spices, etc. Bathrooms have all toiletries. Tim McClellan, the chef that Wendy and Paul work with, is amazing! He prepared (and served) our dinners with plenty of leftovers for lunches. He is totally flexible from casual to formal and was so fun to have in our midst. We have used many catering/chef services over the years and he is at the top of our list--everyone loved his meals including a complete traditional Thanksgiving feast. Check him

Both kids and adults in our group felt that we had our own private 5-star resort (guess we did!). ESCONDIDO IMPRESSES. A stay here would be a memorable experience for anyone. Thank you Paul and Wendy--you are the best!

Great Long Weekend @ Escondido

  • 5 of 5

Packed up our crew of friends to head to Lake Travis for a long weekend to celebrate a 40th birthday. Long before boots hit the ground Paul and Wendy were assisting us with our plans and making things easier for us based on travel limitations. Special shoutout to them both for all their help. They were just terrific.

House is beyond words. Read the other reviews. Not much more can be added. Property, grounds, amenities and overall satisfaction was second to none. If you want to relax, enjoy your friends and family and get your TX on this is the spot. About an hour outside of downtown Austin but easy enough for our group to make a run on one of the days. The pictures of the property are spot on. It's as nice as it looks. Only word that sums the place up is special. Kudos again to the Grey's for their maintenence.

Another must for the house is a local chef who just kicks butt. Tim McClellan of " " was suggested by the Grey's for our group. This guy crushed it for us. From A-Z he had us covered. He kills BBQ. He kills any/all breakfast options. He kills Tex/Mex. He's a must if you want to make your experience easier and simplified.

Thanks to Paul and Wendy for everything. Thanks to Tim for stuffing our faces. Thanks to the Escondido for delivering the weekend we all hoped and needed for. -BN
