About Emily Locke

Hi :-) I grew up in Southern California, then lived in NYC for a few years (where I met my husband) before settling in Anthem, AZ and starting our family! My husband and I have lived in Anthem for 12 years and have four young children. The Flagstaff/Williams area is a perfect escape from the heat of the Valley during the summer, a gorgeous place to see the leaves changing in the Fall, and a wonderful place to experience a 'real winter' and give our kids a chance to sled and build snowmen!! :-)

Emily Locke purchased this house in 2013

Why Emily Locke chose Arizona

This place is amazing! We fell in love the first time we saw it. The Parks area is the perfect location, halfway between Flagstaff and Williams. We love the feel of being in the forest rather than in a neighborhood. It really makes us feel like we are "getting away" :-)

What makes this house unique

One of my favorite things about the cottage is the 'Loft', which is a kid-sized play area above one of the upstairs bedrooms. It is such a unique and fun place!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Everything was great! I really can't think of anything about the house that we didn't like. We loved the wood burning stove, and that there were toys to keep our kids busy. The location was perfect, we loved how secluded it was.

Peaceful retreat with everything you need

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 8 truly enjoyed our stay. The setting was very private. We didn't see a single person any of the four nights we stayed. We would visit the Grand Canyon during the day, stop in Williams for groceries on the way back, then cook or grill our supper. The kitchen is fully stocked with enough pots, pans, dishes or utensils to comfortably serve a large family. After supper we would play one of the games from the shelves, or watch one of the many DVDs. Our adult kids enjoyed watching some of the wonderful movies from their youth (even though there were plenty of current adult titles, as well). Then we would retire, each to our own corner of the cabin. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend.

Nice Get-A-Way to the Cooler Pines

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in at this lovely home in the cool pines of Parks. It was a great location with open space for our kids (9, 12, 14) to spread their wings and explore. We fished at nearby lakes and went on several hikes (Lava Caves is a way to enjoy a few hours and cool off (40 degrees!) during a summer day). The home provided everything we needed from a kitchen that had everything I needed to cook and grill food we brought to shampoo/conditioner/soap in the bathrooms. I can see us coming back for future stays.

Absolutely wonderful house, amazing sceneries...PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed at this property twice (so far!), and absolutely loved it each time. The owner has thought of everything you could possibly need and is INCREDIBLY accommodating. Great for traveling with families, kids, or even a couple of families. There are pack-n-plays, booster seats, games, toys, etc...things you wouldn't even expect in a rental. Emily goes above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. It's so relaxing and serene there; the scenery is breathtaking. We were even lucky enough to see wildlife on both trips there. And the outdoor activities that are on the property: swing, hammock, zipline. The kids were in heaven (and so were mom and dad)!! We did a lot of hiking/exploring, and Bearizona is a short drive away. Such a wonderful experience for our family! I cannot stay enough good things about this cottage. We will be back!

Beautiful home when it is not 95 degrees

  • 4 of 5

This home is very nice and the owner had it well provisioned for our stay. We picked the wrong week to be Arizona with record temperatures as this house does not have air-conditioning. The owner went out of her way to try to make things more comfortable for us including having someone bring us a pedestal fan for the living room, re-providing us with supplies mid-week and even paid for us to stay in a hotel the last night we were there. We would definitely consider this home again when it is not so hot. The only reason we are not giving this rental a 5 is that there should be something telling you on VBRO that there is no air-conditioning.
