About Emily Locke

Hi :-) I grew up in Southern California, then lived in NYC for a few years (where I met my husband) before settling in Anthem, AZ and starting our family! My husband and I have lived in Anthem for 12 years and have four young children. The Flagstaff/Williams area is a perfect escape from the heat of the Valley during the summer, a gorgeous place to see the leaves changing in the Fall, and a wonderful place to experience a 'real winter' and give our kids a chance to sled and build snowmen!! :-)

Emily Locke purchased this house in 2013

Why Emily Locke chose Grand Canyon

This place is amazing! We fell in love the first time we saw it. The Parks area is the perfect location, halfway between Flagstaff and Williams. We love the feel of being in the forest rather than in a neighborhood. It really makes us feel like we are "getting away" :-)

What makes this house unique

One of my favorite things about the cottage is the 'Loft', which is a kid-sized play area above one of the upstairs bedrooms. It is such a unique and fun place!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Everything was great! I really can't think of anything about the house that we didn't like. We loved the wood burning stove, and that there were toys to keep our kids busy. The location was perfect, we loved how secluded it was.

Great place for family vacation near the Grand Canyon!

  • 5 of 5

My family of four spent five wonderful nights at this property in June 2017. It is a beautiful house that has everything you need. The photos do not do it justice. The owner, Emily, is very attentive and really easy to work with. Our schedule changed while planning the trip and I was able to add an extra night with no problem. Emily timely responds to e-mails. The house is easily accessible from Flagstaff or Williams and because it is five miles back in the woods it is quiet and wonderful. I woke up the first morning thinking I heard rushing traffic and it was the wind whistling through the pine trees. I spent most mornings out on the porch with my coffee enjoying the lovely views and quiet. We saw lots of deer and even a random cowboy herding cattle out of the hills behind the property. This is a great location to enjoy the sites in this area. We made several trips to the Grand Canyon which is about an hour away. We had a few meals in Williams which is just down the interstate. Williams has the closest grocery store and lots of attractions. You can also buy your entrance pass to the Grand Canyon at the visitor center. (Kids will like Bearizona.) It was also an easy and beautiful day trip to Sedona for a jeep tour. The house had absolutely everything we needed. We've stayed in several houses booked through this site and this home was the best appointed we've had. The beds were comfortable, there is a lot of room in this house, plenty of towels, great water pressure in the showers, new appliances, everything was really clean and very well organized. It had a really well stocked kitchen with everything we needed - including sharp knives. (A rarity in rental properties) Our teenage boys were thrilled to find there was limited internet access so they were able to keep in touch with their friends and use their electronic devices. It would also be a great house for people with small children. There are several separate living space areas, picnic tables and chairs outside, shelves full of board games, toddler toys in a lovely sun room, a see saw, zip line and hammock. This was one of the best rental experiences we have had. I highly recommend this property.

Perfect rental in every detail

  • 5 of 5

This house was fantastic! Emily thought out every detail of what may be needed in a stay and made those things available for use. We've booked many homes through VRBO and never had every detail of needs so well thought out.

Our kids loved the games and activities and especially loved the zip line (despite the cold temps!).

The scenery was beautiful- we saw deer daily, along with other wildlife.

We drove to the Grand Canyon every day and the drive wasn't bad at all.

If we are ever in the area again we'll certainly book this home again. And, we'll refer anyone we know going to that area!

Cozy home in scenic beauty

  • 5 of 5

Excellent experience from start to finish. Emily was a pleasure to work with--very helpful. Our two family's loved the cottage (especially the loft, for our children). It was a great base for viewing the grand canyon, and we delighted in walking the meadows and sitting in front of a cozy fire on our off day. The home has everything needed for a comfortable stay, and we wouldn't hesitate to rent it again.

Perfect house for a family or group of friends

  • 5 of 5

Our family was there 2 nights for our daughter's graduation from NIU, and were glad to be out away from the busy town. This property rented for less than some in Flagstaff we checked, and is much nicer, peaceful and in the forest, which we love. It was not a long drive to town at all.

The owner has provided everything you could want in the kitchen and many extras such as toys, games, movies, and books. The table was great for 8 people and was next to a wall of windows looking into the forest. Beds were comfortable, living room accommodating, and there is a very cozy, fun loft room our 16 year old slept in.

Owner was pleasant and quick to respond to any questions I had prior to the visit. All VRBO owners should treat their guests as she does. We appreciated very complete instructions on managing the house during our stay. Owner is meticulous with details needed to make the stay work well. We would have liked to stay longer.

Tranquil Escape

  • 5 of 5

We chose this cabin because it was located midpoint to Sedona & Grand Canyon. The cabin was very remote and that is exactly what we wanted. The disconnect from cities, traffic and noise was extremely relaxing. As a family with two boys (5 & 7), the place had all the amenities to keep them occupied inside & outside. They squealed with delight about the "secret" loft.

The place was very large, clean and well equipped. Make sure you have the alarm security code handy when you first enter the place. We arrived at night and phone/internet connections are practically non-existent. Luckily after a few minutes of scrounging around, I found the code to shut off the ear piercing alarm.

A great house to roam in!

  • 5 of 5

This is a perfect sprawling house in the woods, with every comfort thought through. Our kids LOVED the attic, the see-saws and the zip-line, and honestly, would have preferred to stay in the house rather than going to the Grand Canyon! The kitchen is very well-stocked, and so is the movie collection and the board game collection. It would be a great place to stay for a family get-together! We ended up going to the Grand Canyon on 3 of the days we stayed there, but be aware that it takes about 1hr 20 minutes to get to GC, so if you are planning to use it as a base, factor in the driving time. Emily was a perfect host, very responsive and easy to deal with. Would definitely stay here again when we come back to AZ.
