Arizona House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedrooms, 2 Full Bathrooms, Comfortably Sleeps 8, over 2100 sq ft.

Elk Meadow Cottage was recently chosen as one of VRBO's Top 10 Cool Places to Stay Warm! In fact, it was #2!!

In the middle of it all, yet away from it all... Elk Meadow Cottage is the best of both worlds. Our house is just 5 miles off of I-40 and bordered on 3 sides by the Kaibab National Forest, giving you privacy, peace, and quiet. Yet, it is also conveniently located just 20 minutes from Flagstaff and Williams/Polar Express, an hour from the Grand Canyon, and an hour from Sedona! There is so much to do and see in Northern Arizona and Elk Meadow Cottage is the perfect home base for your adventures.

Our Cottage is nicely furnished, has new, top quality linens, and is kept in immaculate condition. We recently added a relaxing hammock and a super fun zipline for our younger guests!

The master bedroom features a king bed and adjoining bath with jetted soaking tub. Upstairs are 3 more bedrooms plus a 2nd full bath. Kids love sleeping and playing in the inviting loft space.

Perfect location for your base camp for all the attractions and natural wonders that Northern Arizona has to offer. Access to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Slide Rock Park, Polar Express & North Pole Experience, Grand Canyon Railway, 5 area fishing lakes, and several golf courses.

Relax by the fireplace with a book or enjoy one of the many family friendly movies and games provided. BBQ and dine on the deck under the pines. Cool, fresh, pine scented mountain air in this wooded setting in the Kaibab Nat'l Forest at 7500 ft. The home is located in an area known for wildlife viewing, views of the San Francisco peaks, and access to miles and miles of hiking / biking / cross country skiing trails.

All the creature comforts you expect in a fine vacation home are here for you.

About Emily Locke

Hi :-) I grew up in Southern California, then lived in NYC for a few years (where I met my husband) before settling in Anthem, AZ and starting our family! My husband and I have lived in Anthem for 8 years and have three small children, with one more on the way. The Flagstaff/Williams area is a perfect escape from the heat of the Valley during the summer, a gorgeous place to see the leaves changing in the Fall, and a wonderful place to experience a 'real winter' and give our kids a chance to sled and build snowmen!! :-)

Emily Locke purchased this house in 2013

Why Emily Locke chose Arizona

This place is amazing! We fell in love the first time we saw it. The Parks area is the perfect location, halfway between Flagstaff and Williams. Our cottage is about 5 miles off of I-40 and is bordered on 3 sides by the beautiful, Kaibab National Forest. The cottage itself is immaculate, well furnished, and a perfect place for a getaway!

What makes this house unique

One of my favorite things about the cottage is the 'Loft', which is a kid-sized play area above one of the upstairs bedrooms. It is such a unique and fun place!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Everything was great! I really can't think of anything about the house that we didn't like. We loved the wood burning stove, and that there were toys to keep our kids busy. The location was perfect, we loved how secluded it was.

I really cannot say enough good things about our stay in Elks Cottage. We have stayed in a few VRBO properties but this was far and away the nicest, cleanest, and best organized house we have ever stayed in. It was so nice in fact, that I sent an email to Emily half way through our week-long July visit just to thank her for making it available to rent! From being able to take a walk in a national first right our your back door, to sitting on the back or front porch as the birds sing to you and the breeze blows by with a cup of fresh coffee in your hand, to being an hour from the Grand Canyon, and a half hour from a handful of other activities - all I can say is, this was the perfect stay. We had one minor glitch - we found beaters to go with a hand mixer but no hand mixer. We texted Emily about it and THAT NIGHT a new hand mixer was delivered! I mean, who does that?!? Oh, I forgot to mention the backyard zip line, seesaw, horseshoes, hammock, slack line, the toy room for kids of all ages, the rows of DVDs to watch, and the board games also for all ages. Our group of eight ranged from ages 4-68 and none of us were ever bored. I just wish we could have stayed anothe week. It was incredible. Thank you again Emily for making Elk Cottage such a wonderful place to stay!!

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cabin. We were looking for a way to cool off in the mountains and to celebrate Father's Day and we found it here. The cabin was perfect. Everything we could need/want and more. Our children were so excited with how kid friendly it was as well. Toys, outdoor fun, games, etc. We felt right at home, and will look forward to staying again.

Great location for a family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Best vacation ever! The house was great and perfect location for visiting the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and Flagstaff. There was plenty of room for two families and the house was clean and had everything we needed. It was kid friendly with games and movies and plenty of room to spread out or play outside. The kids loved the zipline and horseshoes. Being situated on the edge of the national forest, we saw lots of deer and elk and had access to a hiking trail right outside the door. The Grand Canyon and Sedona were just an hour away in opposite directions so day trips were very easy. Would love to come back!

Perfect family getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was wonderful! The owners thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. One favorite was the big crock pot; it was so nice to fill it up in the morning, head out for the day and come "home" to a meal! There was plenty of space for us to gather as a group (8 total, ages 9-60) but also plenty of little nooks for everyone to cozy up in. We saw wildlife every day in the fields and forest behind the house: deer, elk, coyotes--and cows and their cowboys. The house is located in a perfectly serene spot and yet it was also an easy drive to many local points of interest. This was easily one of the best vacations our family has ever taken. No one wanted to leave and we would love to go back some day! Thank you!

Wonderful Family Getaway...

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect getaway for our family. The cottage was comfortable, inviting and full of activities for ALL the kids (big and small ;) ). The cottage is nestled in the trees surrounded by nature, close to wonderful hiking trails and fun sledding runs! Months later and we are still talking about it - after one visit we've decided that it will become an annual tradition for our family. Thank you!
