The picture tells it's own story! A stay in Gaiole in Chianti puts you at the heart of fine wine and fine food.
Borgo di Gaiole mixes old with new and is a unique development. It offers all mod-cons including air conditioning and excellent on site facilities, whilst remaining true to Tuscan architecture and traditions.
The location offers all the benefits of a classic Chianti villa holiday with rural peace and quirt, whilst being within easy walking distance of all you need; and as an added bonus you have all the sophisticated modern facilities of the Borgo immediately to hand.
"We've had a fantastic time here this week. The apartment is so welcoming and we've loved making use of the sun terrace with it's beautiful views. The 'red folder' has been very useful and we've managed to tick off most of the 12 recommendations and even did both of the short walks to Vertine & Riecine on a couple of evenings - some steep hills, but well worth the effort!"
Everything about our stay was excellent. The owner provided very detailed information concerning the property, travel information and places to visit. The property was extremely well appointed and equipped. The wine on our arrival was very welcome!! The staff who looked after the property were very friendly and helpful. The Borgo is in easy walking distance to the small town Gaoile, which is also pretty and friendly. We particularly liked being able to get into Sienna quickly and easily. The 30 minute drive meant that we visited 3 times during our stay. We would recommend this property and hope to visit again ourselves.
An attractive and well appointed/equipped apartment in a tasteful complex, situated high above the small town of Giaole. Patio offers great views of town and ideal location for early morning or late evening refreshments. Excellent support from workers on and off site. We didn't use the communal pool, but particularly enjoyed the opportunities for biking using the cycles provided with the apartment - though the hills are a good challenge in the heat! Siena, Florence, San Gimiagno all within easy reach by car, which we would suggest is essential if staying more than a few days.
The owner, Phil, was a great correspondent and couldn't have been more helpful.
By far the best part of our trip to Italy! This is definitely a place to visit. The owners Philip an Ann were amazing! They really made this trip special for us. There are vineyards and tastings to do all around the area. Just a few minutes walk to town to have a taste of their pastries and coffees. The tiny town is exactly what we envisioned. The people are so friendly and the area is breath taking. In the Chianti Hills where the vineyards are a backdrop to everything was wonderful to wake up to each morning The apartment was perfect! Loved sitting out on the veranda in the morning. Area is perfect for biking, walking, hiking and a short drive to Sienna(25 minutes) Florence is about an hour or so. But honestly once you come to this little town you won't want to leave. There are just so many little villages around the area to explore. Philip and Ann have a list of things to do and places to see but my favorite was our lunch with Chef Simone! Best meal ever. I can still taste the salted cod! The wines are spectacular but my favorite is a Chianti Classico. Since back in the states that is my go to wine. Thank you Ann and Philip for making our 30th Anniversary so incredibly special and a memory that I will not forget.
We booked this apartment to be the end of our 3 and a half month British and European holiday. After self-driving, coach tour and cruise we were looking forward to this being a nice place to take time out before returning home to New Zealand. It was just perfect, everything that we hoped it would be. The apartment itself is lovely, equipped with everything you could need. The views from the outside courtyard are amazing, and Gaiole itself is a lovely village. The local people were very friendly and welcoming. We had a fantastic time and would happily stay here again if we had the opportunity. We would recommend it to anyone wanting a great Italian village holiday. Phil was great to deal with, providing all the information we could wish for and was very responsive and helpful. Tip for visitors: Pizza IT in the village makes the best pizzas I have ever tasted. They were so good we had them 3 nights while we were there.
We really enjoyed our stay in the Casa Corvo Minore apartement, which was fully equipped, so it lacked nothing. Especially the terrace with the lovely view over Gaiole, was a sight to behold. The kids loved the pool area, so we will definitely return some day.
Casacorvo Minore -- what a perfect place to call home for six days! Phil was terrific to deal with right from our first enquiry. (And we had the added pleasure of meeting him at the tail end of our vacation.) He was very accommodating, allowing us to arrive earlier in the day on our arrival day and leave later on our last day if we wanted to.
The apartment was spotless and had pretty much everything we could have wanted. We were greeted with a box of local wine, which we thoroughly enjoyed - especially while relaxing on the amazing patio area overlooking the picturesque town of Gaiole. After a busy first week of vacation, having such a relaxing and comfortable place to call home was very welcome. One of our favorite things to do was enjoy our espresso and breakfast on the patio every morning.
The onsite property managers were great and everything was very well-maintained.
The town itself was lovely. And the wineries all around the area were amazing! Such friendly people and amazing wines! (We wrote about some of our favorites in Phil's guestbook!) Make sure you go to Riecine winery and Le Contrade Ristorante (which Phil recommended to us for our last night - best meal and dining experience we've ever had anywhere).
There's a very helpful binder in the apartment with info about all sorts of restaurants, wineries and things to do in the area.
We would absolutely recommend this apartment to others - and in fact, have already.
There are over 100 wine producers in Gaiole commune alone, ranging from the world renowned Castello d'Ama through to small family vineyards.
A centre for local business, Gaiole offers 5 restaurants, 3 cafe bars, 2 delicatessens, a great value pizzeria, a tourist office, pharmacy, ATMs and shopping for all local delicacies and holiday needs.
Famous for it's cycling festival, L'Eroica held every year during the first weekend in October, the village also hosts frequent concerts and festivals.
It is an excellent centre for walking and cycling, the Siena-Florence long distance footpath runs along the ridge above the village, and there is a maze of way marked 'strada bianchi' (unsurfaced roads) criss-crossing the surrounding hills and valleys just waiting to be explored.
Vineyards and olive groves abound, amongst which sit the majestic castles of Meleto, Brolio and others, and from the atmospheric ruins of Montegrossi gaze down on your accommodation and wonder at the magic of Chianti
Other Activities: cooking courses, scooter hire, wine tours
