The area is ideal for sightseeing in a scenic and historic part of Portugal, within easy reach by motorway of Lisbon (2 hours) and Spain (1 hour). Three nights of peace and quite. What a great stay.
Highly recommend the farm tour.
With Weather like this who wants to leave
The Cabin is well is small but very comfortable and had all you need.
If you stay here you must do the Cork Tour. It's a two hours Jeep with a guide who will give you the full insight into the cork World.
We were recommended to come and stay at Herdade da Maroteira by some friends, who had really enjoyed there stay. All we can say is that we wish we had a few more days or weeks.
Lovely Cosy wood lodge
We stayed here for one week and loved our time here. The house is small but sleeps 4 very comfortably, Philip and his family were very friendly and helpful . The cabin has all the comforts you need. We highly recommend the farm tour which is very interesting and informative.
Very cool location
Unfortunately we were only there for one night and arrived late. As we saw in the morning, though, the property is very cool. Cork trees everywhere and 3 friendly dogs came to hang out. The little house was everything we needed for our one night for 2 adults, a toddler and a baby (who just slept in bed with us). Had I been a better planner I should have lined up a tour of the cork forest and farm. Our days just seemed to get away from us on this vacation!
A great get away from it all location
We thought the location was delightful, very peaceful and it was great to have access to a swimming pool albeit 800m away from the lodge. The Lodge itself was very small, little work space in the kitchen and few cooking utensils, in need of an update however the location and outside space made up for this. Recommend the Cork Trekking as a great way to see the area and also the megalith tour with Mario in Evora. The Lodge is approx. 2kms off the highway along an unmade road. The staff are lovely and helpful and you must try the wines produced here.
The farm also offers Jeep tours of the Cork Forest. During your stay take one of our informative tours.
