Upper Black Eddy House Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedroom 2 And 1/2 Bath Home On Completely Private Wooded Setting

'Two cultural VIPs (from the Curtis Institute and Kimmel Center) bought this roomy log cabin in 2012 as an escape from city life. Then they gave it an overhaul, adding the perfect mix of vintage elements (an enameled wood stove from Norway) and new stuff (spa-like bathrooms, a private suite) for a gorgeous upscale-yet-cozy look. Lucky for you they're willing to share. Drive 20 minutes and you'll find Lake Nockamixon, antiques shops, and quaint enclaves like Frenchtown.'

***JUST ADDED! The north deck was just outfitted with a teak dining table and chairs for 10, as well as a lounging area with a love-seat, two arm chairs and a coffee table***

Wonderful dense and soft carpeting in the main house bedrooms - 20 foot deck off the private suite apartment - Enameled Norwegian wood stove with masonry wall in the dining room - Two sink vanity with granite counter and under-mount sinks in the main house bathroom - Great new games in the living room!

Just furnished and completely refreshed in 2013, this log home has a chef's kitchen with all new stainless steel appliances and granite counters. The original handmade cabinets and built-ins have been retained.

The main bathroom is very large, with a claw foot tub and shower. There is a complete collection of bath salts and other skin products providing a spa experience.

While the whole home is newly furnished, unique antique pieces fill the property with character. The huge dining room seats 12, and adjoins the living room for perfect entertaining.

There are two bedrooms and a bath on the 2nd floor, a powder room in the kitchen and a private apartment accessed from back of the house.

The apartment has a large living room, bedroom and bath. There are queen size sofa beds in the living rooms of both the main house and the apartment.

Large flat screens are in the living room, two bedrooms and the living of the private suite. There is Wi-Fi service. A complete package of premium channels, sports and children's programming provides all guests with multiple choices for TV viewing. A Blu-ray player and a wireless printer for convenient printing of local destinations and directions caps off a most technologically sophisticated package tucked in a country log home environment.

Outdoors is landscaped and beautiful from all four sides of the house. The front yard is long, wide and rolling, with a park-like atmosphere. One side of the house has a raised garden, and the other a large deck with two tables and 8 chairs. There is a 5 burner gas grill on the deck. The back yard is wide and flat, with many visits by deer and a large variety of birds.

Extra features include a full size second refrigerator, and two pop-up picnic tables with built-in seating that each seat 4.

About Chuck Finch

I live in downtown Philadelphia in a 4 story townhouse built in 1803. I grew up in a family that developed property for over 100 years, so my love of interesting architecture and restoring houses is in my blood.

Chuck Finch purchased this house in 2012

Why Chuck Finch chose Bucks County

There is no type of property that offers such a distinctly warm and welcoming appeal as a log home. By updating the house without making it too contemporary, I think that Raspberry Hill has a unique combination of sophistication and rustic charm.

What makes this house unique

The outdoor property is vey private and quite beautiful. Although a log house, all of the technology you could ever want is available.

Great house to explore Bucks County

  • 5 of 5

First, this is a great property and the land it’s on is wonderful, peaceful and a treat. Our weather was great so we were able to enjoy the property which is lovely. We fed and watched the birds endlessly. We saw dear at the edge of the lawn and the horses next door added to the local color. The house and apartment over the garage were perfect for our exploration of Bucks County. And the apartment gave our young adults a place to be away from us. My wife and I sat in the real cook’s kitchen and simply chilled out. Some days we picked a tomato from the garden, and made lunch. Our hosts left the property immaculately clean and the property was full of their wonderful objects from a life in the theater, for which I was particularly grateful. Our host was available by cell phone a couple of times picking up on the third ring. The location of the house is perfect. Just up a steep hill from a wonderful restaurant and bar and close enough to the cool, hip little Bucks towns on the Delaware that we wanted to visit. I would suggest a couple of things to make the property even easier to love. If one were sensitive to scents the fragrance oils around the living room might be a problem. Easy fix. The other issue was just ours really, but one in our group had a phobia for clowns and puppets. We didn’t see these in the pictures available online. Neither of these took away from our stay. And I would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Great secluded location

  • 4 of 5

This log cabin is exactly what we needed. Every thing about the house is great with everything being fairly simple and just what our family needed. We traveled up from NC to attend a local family wedding. We wished we would have had better weather, so we could be outside more, but the yard looked like it would be fun from the inside! :) If there were any minor criticisms, it would be two things: 1) if you are over 6 foot 4 inches tall, you will be ducking the entire time (the ceilings in the main house are quite low; 2) we would suggest only traveling with 3 couples/families. There are 3 bedrooms, so one of our couples had to sleep on the pull out sofa bed in the 'guest suite'. While this wasn't a huge issue, the couple mentioned the pullout wasn't comfortable.

Thanks again for the hospitality and we look forward to returning if our required for another family vacation.

A Perfect vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My family had such a good time in the house. Kitchen is well equipped, as the owner said, there is everything including a cooking book :)

The decoration and setting show good taste of the owner-- absolutely beautiful! The house location is quite private but not far from the city of Leigh.

House is well maintained with everything clean and well organzied. Owner was very thoughtful and provided a good introduction of the house. We didn't have any trouble or inconvenience there.

The weather was a little bit chilly though, if staying there in May or after would be perfect.

We highly recommend this house to others and look forward to coming back!

Thank you, Chuck!

Newtown, PA

A fantastic getaway...

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our 2 young children recently moved to Newtown, PA from NYC and were hoping to find a place to meet with a few couples from eastern NJ and NYC for a weekend getaway that would allow us to have a day trip skiing at Camelback and would provide us a comfy home base to cook some great meals and enjoy some spirits. This cabin delivered on all counts!

Warm, inviting, charming, clean, and relatively conveniently located (our friends from Brooklyn made it in about 2 hours on a Friday night), this cabin was a perfect setting for a relaxing, fun weekend with 3 couples and 4 kids, aged 1 year to 9. We cooked and ate a lot, day tripped to Camelback for skiing, had breakfast outside, took the kids to (very) nearby and unique Ringing Rocks Park, rested, chatted, reminisced and played a mean round of Cards Against Humanity in the cabin's extremely accommodating living/sleeping/cooking/eating areas. Bonus for us? The "apartment" 3rd bedroom above garage with separate entrance, which saved the couple without children from being subjected to the 1 & 2.5 year old's frequent loud wake ups and early rising mornings!

We are already planning our return... really a great place for any type of weekend you're hoping for.

Best New Year's Ever

  • 5 of 5

The listing description was right on target, the property was clean and well-maintained and the owner provided excellent customer service.

If you like what you see in the property description, I would highly recommend this property.

My wife and I, along with our five children, rented this property for the week after Christmas and we all had a great time exploring the surrounding area and spending time together at this lovely property. Our activities included skeet shooting, hiking and road trips to local towns and restaurants. But, most of all, I think we all enjoyed just sitting by the fire and playing games.
