My husband Stéphan and I are both teachers in highschool. Being a french canadian, I met him in France while travelling with a working-holidays visa. We got married two years after and chose to live in Aix-en-Provence where I studied french littérature and we spent 8 years in this beautiful city. We bought the apartment in 2011, working hard in it to turn it from an old place to a modern and comfortable home, while some authentic details are still remaining. At the beginning, we rented by ourselves, but as we moved to Briançon in the French Alps 5 years ago, we asked our very good friend Agnès to manage it. Somehow we keep always contact with guests through VRBO or directly by phone, from reservation to check-out. Whe love our new life in the Alps with our two children who are now 3 and 5 years old, but we are still going to Aix-en-Provence many times a year to find its incredicle atmosphere back. Nous nous sommes mariés 2 ans plus tard et avons décidé de nous installer à Aix-en-Provence où j'ai suivi mes études de littérature et où nous avons vécu pendant 8 ans. Nous avons acheté cet appartement en 2011 et l'avons entièrement rénové , tout en conservant certains détails authentiques. Au début, nous l'avons loué nous-même, puis, lorsque nous avons déménagé à Briançon dans les Alpes il y a 5 ans, nous avons demandé à une très bonne ami à nous, Agnès, de s'en occuper. Cependant, nous nous occupons toujours personnellement du suivi des séjours, de la réservation au départ, et vous pouvez nous contacter directement, aussi souvent que vous le désirez. Nous adorons notre nouvelle vie dans les montagnes, mais nous continuons à nous rendre très souvent à Aix pour nous replonger dans son ambiance incroyable, que nous espérons partager avec vous.

When we were living in Aix-en-Provence we felt in love of old downtown and its typical building that makes the city so nice. When we found this apartment, it was "dans son jus" that means it never has been renovated for decades. Then we decided to buy it and to make a modern place with lots of comfort but keeping as well some details of the past like the traditional red floor from Provence ("Tommettes"), wood doors, and exposed beams. Lorsque nous habitions à Aix-en-Provence, nous sommes tombés amoureux du centre-ville historique et de ses immeubles typiques qui donnent son charme à la ville. Quand nous avons trouvé l'appartement, il était "dans son jus", aucune rénovation n'ayant été entreprises depuis des années. Après l'avoir acheté, nous avons alors décidé de le doter de tous les équipements de confort moderne (climatisation, VMC,...) mais en conservant certains détails du passé : poutres apparentes, portes d'origine en bois, sol traditionnel en tommettes,...

Historic apt in great aix area
We had a wonderful stay in this well-equipped apt. It was convenient to everything. We did not cook here, but you could certainly prepare a full dinner with ease. It had two baths( sink and shower) but only one toilet for the apt (in a separate room.)
We were three women and managed very well . I would definitely recommend this rental.
It was a perfect location in Centre Ville! Note it is on third floor—only inconvenience.
So close to sightseeing and shops. Aix-en-Provence full of activity!

My sister and I spent 4 nights in this apartment on Rue du Bon Pasteur. Unfortunately, our flight was nearly 3 hours delayed, meaning that we arrived quite late on in the evening, however, Agnes was incredibly helpful and kept in touch with us and helped us to check in easily. The apartment itself is so clean and fresh and comfortable. The kitchen is great and had lots of pots and pans and utensils and we enjoyed some lovely lunches in the apartment drinking great wine and enjoying some of the locally bought bread and cheeses, etc. The location of the apartment is wonderful, with all the amenities of Aix on the doorstep. The bus station is around 15 minutes walk away and there are buses every ten minutes to the aeroport and frequently running buses to Marseille for a day out. We couldn't have enjoyed our stay here any more and we are missing it already. If we are lucky enough to return to this amazing town we would definitely wish to stay in this apartment again.
We spent the month of June in Gabrielle and Stéphan’s apartment.
First, I’d like to say that if you are visiting Aix-en-Provence you have a treat ahead of you! The location of the flat is perfect for anyone who wants to explore this historic and beautiful town and region. Walking is easy and the city buses are inexpensive and reliable. Uber works well for the short drive to the nearby train and bus stations as well as to Marseilles. Everything you need is walking distance to the apartment and several Monopris and Casino groceries are a short walk. Of course both the daily and weekly markets offer fresh produce and there are bakeries close by for morning pastries which were a highlight of the stay. The photos of the apartment are basically accurate. We had an issue with a loose floor tile in the livingroom but Stéphan corrected it immediately upon request. The kitchen is functional and we found ourselves eating at home most of the time as a result. Eating out is easy as well and I’ve come to believe that there isn’t a bad choice of restaurants in Aix! Be prepared to climb stairs (the apartment is on the third level) but this wasn’t an issue to us except for arrival (with luggage) and departure. The clothes washer worked well but the dryer wasn’t functioning when we were there. I am sure Stéphan will have this repaired by the time you arrive should you decide to stay in the flat. Also, there are two separate baths with showers but only one toilet for both off the entry. It worked well for us but just keep it in mind. There was a heat wave that came through Provence our last three days and the air conditioning is excellent. There is some noise from the tenant above but nominal. Beds are comfortable. On the whole the positives outweighed the negatives for this rental!

Great location, clean and modern
Perfect location in the historic part of Aix - quite close to a few picturesque squares with cafes and restaurants but far enough away that it's quiet in the mornings and evenings. It was an easy arrival process, the manager was there to greet us and show us around the flat.
The kitchen was well equipped and the table easily large enough for the four of us to eat dinner, play games, read maps, etc. A/C worked fine, though the weather was pretty mild when we were there in May, so we didn't need it most days. Aix can be hot in the summer and the mosquitos can be a nuisance, so A/C was a #1 priority for us.
Forget trying to drive to the front door, it's possible to do but we never figured it out. But it's not necessary, the Cardeurs parking garage is just a block and a half away. That was super convenient when we went sightseeing during the week.
Just to confirm for travelers from the US - there is a single bathroom with a toilet, it's down the hall from the two bedrooms. One of the bedrooms has a shower & sink adjacent to bedroom (inside its door) and the other has a shower and sink opposite the doorway.
We would definitely recommend this flat to others, the couple we stayed with had rented another flat a couple of years earlier and this one was head and shoulders better than that in every way! Location is everything and this one is in a great place.
The apartment is very well decorated and equipped. It gives one feeling at home. Great location within walking distant to all major attractions and restaurants. Communication with the owners is always prompt with response. Agnès,lady who look after the apartment gave us warm welcome with nice hospitality.
Museum, Lyrics Arts Festivals, architecture and monuments, painting expositions,... Aix--en-Provence is a city where culture is everywhere. Also enjoy cruising in the pedestrians streets of old downtown, discovering typical market and cafés. The apartment is located in one of those.
