This Chamberlain/Oacoma area home sits in the secluded river bluffs above Oacoma. It features 5 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, two living areas, a large kitchen/dining area and main floor laundry. The front deck offers space to sit and relax while watching the sunset over the Missouri River. The back deck is the perfect spot to grill out for a large family gathering. The Chamberlain/Oacoma area has so much to offer including great fishing, hunting, boating, shopping, golfing, biking and eating. Natural gas grill, whirlpool tub in master bath, garage, play station II, and a main floor laundry are sure to help make your visit more enjoyable. This home is perfect for Hunting groups, Business meetings, Wedding gatherings, River weekends or Family or Class reunions. A pack and play is included for those traveling with babies.
The property offers not only 5 bedrooms, but also many extra gathering spaces, from the formal living room, large dining room, to the two decks, man cave, and heated garage that is furnished with tables, chairs, extra refrigerator and sink, there is plenty of room to relax, spread out, and enjoy your vacation! The outdoor areas offer more room to park boats, grill, play outdoor games, or let your dogs run.
We had a family reunion with 8 adults and one child. It worked out perfectly. Each couple had their own bedroom, the kitchen was spacious and well stocked. The men enjoyed playing cards in the "man room". Plenty of seating for the entire family to eat together. Beautiful furnishings and comfortable beds. I would recommend this house to anyone.
My family needed a place for 9 children and 8 adults. This house provided enough privacy and sleeping and at the same time the kitchen/dining/living rooms were great places to gather for meals and playing games together. Also sitting on the back deck provided a beautiful view of the Missouri River and surrounding hills. It was also withing walking distance of Oacoma sites and driving/biking to Chamberlain. The proximity to good Missouri River fishing sites and beaches gave everyone options for activities away from the house.
If we all had one complaint it would be that it would be nice if the hot tub was working.
My wife and I have 3 children and 5 grand children. All of us were in the house together. There was more than enough room for all of us to enjoy our own privacy while at the same time have family time together in the kitchen, family room, and living room. Towels and bedding were more than adequate. Availability to fine dining, grocery store, slips to rent for our boat, and church was fantastic, as well as the view. We would do it again if the the need would arise.
Great home. We had 4 families at the home. It was very roomy and comfoifor everyone. We had beds for everyone. The extra living area was great for kids and the air conditioned garage made even more room. The view is incredible. We played on the water 7 hours a day. Water was clean and the bluffs were beautiful. With the bluffs we always found smooth water. Boat landing is 5 minutes away and has 4 launches. Gas available marina too.
We had family meet in Chamberlain from Spearfish and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Worthington, MN. We originally planned to get motel rooms, but so glad our daughter thought to check on VRBO and found this lovely home. It was perfect for our family of 9 adults and 9 kids. Great gathering areas, but also nice separate areas where the kids enjoyed their "club house" and the adults could visit in the main living area. It was extremely well-stocked compared to other places we have rented elswhere. If the hot tub (which, admittedly wasn't advertised) was in working condition, it would have been pretty much IDEAL :-) We did rent the pool at the AmericInn for 3 hours so the kids could get to swim. One thing that surprised me was that it advertised as sleeping 18, but there were only beds for 17 - couldn't find any hide-a-beds. We were OK, though, as we had 2 in Pack'n Plays. Could see where it would be especially nice for fishermen, etc, in other seasons with more color, as it had a nice view. Oh, yes, the kids did spend a couple of hours sledding on the hills one morning before it got to slushy. They really enjoyed that, too.
The Chamberlain/Oacoma area offers so many attractions. While the Missouri River, with it's two Marinas, offers the obvious, such as fishing, skiing, tubing, boating, sailing, and relaxing, there is so much more to do here. The area has long been very popular for hunting Ringneck Pheasant, deer, geese, turkey and other small animals.
We are proud to be home of the SD Hall of Fame, a wonderful attraction honoring influential people from South Dakota; the Akta Lakota Museum which houses many unique Native American artifacts; St. Joseph's Indian School, a boarding school for Lakota children; and the Veterans Memorial Park.
We also have many restaurants in the area, including Al's Oasis, Busted Nut Bar and Grill, Charly's Restaurant, and Cedar Shore to name a few.
Our main street in Chamberlain has great shopping with Boutiques, Bakerys, Antique Stores, Florists, a Furniture Store and Clothing Stores. There is also great shopping at Al's Oasis.
