We invite you to come and stay with us on our small farm, where we have created , in this privileged environment, what we feel to be an ideal rural retreat. With stunning views to the Mediterranean coast and the surrounding sierras, this is the perfect location for anyone wishing to experience the real Spain. Enjoy the many wonderful animals we have here - alpacas, donkeys, peafowl, hens, turkeys, cats and dogs. You may not want to venture out but if you do there are numerous opportunities in the area for all kinds of outdoor activities such as cycling (mountain bike & road) walking, rock climbing, horse riding and bird watching. The ancient town of Antequera is only 25 min drive away, plus you are ideally situated to make day trips to the historical cities of Granada (1.5 h drive), Cordoba (2 h), Seville (2 h). Plenty to do and see, with the city of Malaga and all the attractions of the Costa del Sol only a short drive away (40 min) should you wish for it.
David & Diana came to live in Spain in 2005 after working together for 30+ years running Crich Pottery in Derbyshire. Looking for a new challenge they discovered Cortijo la solana and decided to make it their new home .
David Worthy purchased this farmhouse in 2005
Dear David & Diana ,
Wow! Your magnificent home has been the perfect "home base " for our exploration of Andalucía , in addition to providing a tremendously calm and peaceful setting for just pure relaxation. The spectacular views of stunning peaks , green verdant hills and the distant sea will never get old. Starting each day with the joyful singing of birds ( in Spanish 1 ) has been a real treasure and we have loved having all the animals nearby. We hope to return again and THANK YOU so much,
Saïd & Sharon ,
Lovettsville , Virginia , USA

We have just enjoyed a lovely few days at the casita using it as a base to visit Córdoba, Antequerra and a few other pueblos.
The casita has everything you need and the views are absolutely amazing! We were visited by the dogs, cats and peacocks regularly and there are also donkeys and alpacas there
Thank you so much David and Diana, we had a memorable time and hope to visit again in the future

Really enjoyed our stay at the Casita. It was spotlessly clean and felt very homely with lots of books, music and DVD, s to choose from. The scenery was stunning and best of all, for us, was the opportunity to meet and cuddle the animals. The kitchen had everything you could wish for even down to ice cube bags. David and Diana are really nice people who left you with your own space but were there if you needed them. I would definitely recommend this place and would come back again.
We couldn't resist to come back a thirth time end of May-beginning June. And we will be back once more later this year.
We need the calm and the peace of this little paradise.
The property is very clean and well-maintained. The animals are a joy to have arround us.
I could recommend this property to friends but I want to keep this secret ;-) :-)
For the second time we spend a wonderfull time in La Casita. Thank you David for the vegetables (aubergines, tomatoes in all kind of coulors, ognions, butternut pumpkin, ...). I made some wonderfull stews with it.
The property is wellmaintained and we sure recommend this place to friends and relatives. Antiquera is the closest city. Worth to visit and to spend some time in it. This time we visited Granada once more, Cordoba, several times we went to Malaga, El Chorro, the lakes, made a two hours walk in El Torcal, etc. But most of the time we spend time reading a good book at the pool.... Just relaxing and enjoying the visits from the dogs: in particular Suma 😊.
Diana and David: thanks a lot. We will be back!
We rented La Casita for the last two weeks of May 2014. We found it spacious for two adults, clean and very well decorated. It had the most complete set of amenities that we have seen so far, for example milk, tea, washing machine, clothesline, etc. There is a large terrace with an exceptional view of the valley, the village and the mountains. Grocery store, Gaz station and others are near by at Villanueva de la Conception.
We used it as a base location to visit Andalusia at our own pace. We visited: Villanueva de la Conception, Antequera, Nerja, Malaga, Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada and Alero.
The owners are hospitable, helpful and unobtrusive. They live two doors away. They have peacocks, alpacas, donkeys, dogs and cats that are all well behaved.
It was like having our own villa in Andalusia.

Just 40 minutes inland from Malaga and 25 minutes from the ancient town of Antequera - known as the crossroads of Andalusia. You have the possibility to make day trips to some of Spain's most famous cities - Seville , Cordoba and Granada, this is rural Spain at it's best. Villanueva de la Concepcion is the closest village at 3 km. With 3000 plus inhabitants it boasts numerous small bars and restaurants, post office, banks with ATM, 24 hour medical centre, swimming pool, sports centre, several small supermarkets, fishmongers, butchers, bread shops, tobacconist plus a whole variety of other shops as well as the customary range of typical Spanish fiestas and other events. On our doorstep we have the immense limestone mass known as the El Torcal Natural Parque, which rises to 1336m above sea level and is home to the Imperial Eagle and the Spanish Ibex. We have El Chorro gorge and the lakes nearby plus the beautiful town of Ronda. So much to do and see... or you could just laze by the pool and enjoy the peace and quiet.
