We offer a lovely apartment at the fourth floor (no elevator or lift) of a historical Venetian building located in the town’s heart, 5 minutes from San Marco Square and its Bell tower, it’s at only 1 minute walk from Rialto Bridge and just 50 meters from Rialto water bus stop. The apartment is located in the historical San Salvador square, with a small view to Canal Grande. Recently restored and well-appointed, the apartment has all your desired comforts for a stay, full furnishings, air conditioning, washing machine, satellite TV and fan. There is a big living with kitchen area (cookware, glasses, dishes and utensils included), bathroom with shower, 2 bedrooms and a small hall at the entrance. Sleeps max five (5) persons: 4 persons plus one (folding-bed). The price includes, cleaning, bedding and towels. The apartment has internet connection, Wifi. Close the apartment (1 minute walk) there is also an internet-point.
Mercerie, the heart of Venice : The apartment is very close to the Mercerie ( just back to the corner). Mercerie cut the old city centre into two parts, connecting Piazza San Marco to Rialto. This is Venice’s main through way, the heart of the city’s commercial trade since ancient times when the precious fabric shops stayed open until late. The Mercerie are divided into three parts: Mercerie dell’oroloio that starts from Piazza San Marco, Mercerie de San Zulian and Mercerie di San Salvador, that come out right on Campo San Salvador, next to Campo San Bortolo. All the Mercerie are full of shops and boutiques of all kinds: from luxury jewellers such as Cartier and Rolex to fashion boutiques such as Sergio Rossi for shoes and Krizia for clothes. The apartment is in historical building in San Salvador square, where there is the entrance. This is an important site in Venice, you can find it in some important ancient paintings, for example: ' L'ingresso di un procuratore di San Marco' by Gabriel Bella (1779)
Carnival of venice: The Venice Carnival is the largest and most important Venetian festival, an appreciated cocktail of tradition, entertainment, history and transgression in a unique city, a festival that attracts thousands of people from around the world each year. The Carnival has very old origins. This congregation of masked people, called Venice Carnival, began in the 15th century, but the tradition can be traced back to the beginning of the 14th Century.
The location was amazing, I was worried about being so close to the busy area San Marco but it was perfect. It was not noisy we all enjoyed it. An added treat with this location in the August was every evening there were musicians on the street below so we could open our window and enjoy the beautiful talented players on the door step, and this made things rather special. We were also only about 5 minutes walk away from the co-op
It was only a couple of stops from the train station on the water bus and it was about 3 minutes walk to the water bus stop. We never needed to use the water bus during our stay even though we had paid for a three day pass. We were very pleased with the meeting service of our host who meet us at the bus stop and took us to the flat.
This is a loft flat so it was warm when the sun was on it, however there was two air conditioning units one in the living/dinning area and one in the twin/triple bedroom. And a fan in the double room. The beds. The double room was a very large bed looked like a sofa bed but was actually a real mattress on the frame and very comfortable. We had a lovely sleep. Sheets were very clean and pillows were good.
Shower and toilet were fine. living room could do with a sofa as we only had two arm chairs and we missed sitting together. Kitchen was fine it served its purpose it has been used but the dishes are good and there a great size fridge with a nice size freezer, oven is conventional so takes a little longer.
Over all the flat was clean, and fresh with lots of towels and clean beds. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this flat.
We had two small children and three adults. I should say it did not have a lift so you do need to be able to use the stairs.
My family of three loved our stay in this apartment. Sebastiano was great in communicating with us before we arrived, and he was right there at the predetermined location to take us to the apartment when we arrived in Venice. He was very responsive during our stay also, giving us help when we needed it. The apartment is in a fantastic location, on a nice piazza next to a church about 50 meters from the vaparetto stop on the Grand Canal. It is right in the shopping and restaurant district, and it is very close to the Rialto bridge and San Marco. We could easily walk everywhere, but took the vaparetto a few times because the stop was so close. We enjoyed looking out the windows onto the square below.
The apartment itself is quirky and comfortable. It is a few flights up, so you have to hike up some stairs every day. That wasn't a problem for us. The beds in both bedrooms were very comfortable, and there were plenty of pillows and linens. We slept very well, as the apartment is very quiet when the windows are closed. There is good air conditioning, so we were very comfortable even though it was quite hot during our stay. The bathroom is very nice with a good shower, and we took full advantage of the little washing machine for our clothes. The kitchen was well stocked and we could have cooked meals if we wanted to, but we chose to eat out and buy snacks and drinks from the nearby grocery store. There are many restaurants and gelato places very close by. The apartment is very old, literally hundreds of years, and has a quirky charm. The floors are very uneven after years of settling, and there are cool old exposed beams in the ceiling. Even though it is old, everything is very comfortable and pleasant. It was amazing to think of the history this location has. This is honestly a great place to stay and I would not hesitate to stay there again when I return to Venice.
This is a great apartment to rent in Venice. Very close to Rialto Bridge and we were able to walk to almost everything. The owners are easy to work with and were extremely helpful before and during our stay. They return emails quickly and provide information to make the visit easy. Two couples fit easily in this apartment. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone wanting a centrally located apartment in a great area of Venice. 5 Stars!
The apartment is in a great location in a piazza only one block from the Grand Canal and the Realto bridge. It is spacious, with 2 bedrooms and a well equipped kitchen. If you like to cook go to the famous Venice fish and produce market just on the other side of the Realto bridge and create!
It is a 4-story walk up so it is not for the faint of heart and pack lightly!
Nice view of the piazza and partial view of the Grand Canal from the living room windows.
Sebastiano is a wonderful host. He was very attentive and helpful with maps, information and suggestions. He was always available for any questions. I would definitely recommend the apartment and we hope to return again soon. Ciao!
5 of us (incl 3 adult teens) stayed here for 3 nights
The flat is in an amazing location, very close to Rialto bridge, central for everything, next to San Salvador church. It is a 4th floor with no lift, so bear that in mind. If you don't like historic buildings with odd wavy floors, it's not for you. We found it absolutely brilliant- you're staying in history (according to owners over 400 years old and used to be quarters for the priests), looking out at history from every window.
It's very well equipped, with good internet, air conditioning, all the necessary kitchen stuff etc. Obviously you're walking distance to pretty much all the sites, restaurants, supermarkets, bars, about 20 minutes to train/bus station. The double bed and the 5th bed are sofa-bed and foldaway respectively but we found them comfortable.
