Our overall experience was great. We had a very enjoyable Christmas holiday. It's close to Denver but yet far enough away to feel isolated and in the mountains.
Pardon my scatter shooting: 1st thing everyone should know is there are 2 other cabins on the lot (although both were vacant while we were there - one behind, and one right off the deck). 2nd, there is no internet, however we knew that going in, and it actually was nice to not be nose deep in a phone or laptop for a while. We actually had no plans other than just to hang out, so on our drives to find cell service we ran across all kinds of awesome sights and parks in the surrounding area that we probably would have never seen if we had internet in the cabin. The drive in to the cabin is amazing, it is tricky the first time if you aren't used to mountain roads (drive slow) but the scenery is awesome. They even called to make sure we found it ok since we were driving in the dark. The drive to Pine was incredible, seeing the architecture of some of the cabins and how they paved the road along the creek is brilliant. The surrounding area is awesome for hiking and exploration which we took full advantage of. (And yes, be sure to hang out at Zoka's for a bit) But, back to the cabin...that's what you really want to know about right? The cabin is ridiculously cool. It was just my wife and I, so the cabin was perfect for 2. We never used the downstairs except for the shower, but it is big enough for a couple of kids to hang out in and watch TV without disturbing anyone upstairs. The upstairs is the crown jewel, I'll be looking to find a replica of the couch for my own home (my gosh that thing was comfortable and big enough for 2!). The kitchen is perfect, everything you could want. The living space is just small enough to be cozy but big enough to not be any way claustrophobic. The décor is perfect and really gives it that "cabin feel". They list dvd player, but it is actually a bluray. Big TV for movie watching. The owner leaves all kinds of goodies and stuff most people may not think that much about when planning a trip, but it was actually a welcome advantage (from the soaps in the bathrooms to hotel/restaurant type things in the kitchen to blankets to quaint little surprises). The master bed was incredible, the bedding fantastic, the tub was my wife's best friend every day we were there. The place was spotless, super clean and nice. The deck is perfect for just sitting outside and listening to no highways, or jets or trains, like you hear in the city. It was completely relaxing. We stayed for 5 days and didn't want to leave. Highly recommended, it was perfect.
The cabin was more than we expected to be. The drive in along the mountainside had all sorts of views. We didn't expect there to be absolute 0 reception (phones/wifi) but that was PERFECT. Provided was a bottle of wine, cinnamon rolls, and a few snacks. The soaps and lotions were also delightful. Bed was comfortable to sleep in, and with the windows open the room got down to 65-67 degrees (we couldn't believe it - in July?!). Hearing the creek all throughout the day was so soothing. As we were playing Battleship, with the french doors open, a deer walked up to our porch and we fed it. Oh, the boardgames were also fun to play. Got to grill some steaks on the pit and hang out on the porch until the sun went down. The stars were nice to gaze at. We went into Morrison to hike through the Red Rocks Park and see the Red Rock Amphitheater. Definitely catch a concert! There were lots of other things to do in the area. We will be returning in the future!!
A mere four minute walk to the Bucksnort, a four minute drive to Pine and Zoka's restaurant, 20 minutes to Bailey, Conifer or Deckers. It's hard for us to imagine a cabin being more perfectly, centrally located in the area.
The cabin itself is beautifully rustic inside and out, well maintained and clean inside and out. The large deck was wonderful for lazily passing the afternoons with the Elk Creek running through the front of the property. We loved it and look forward to returning again and again! Highly recommended!
Such a cozy and quaint place to stay! We've stayed there a few times and have had a great time each time. Haven't wanted to come home! The setting is so peaceful and close to a small town. It's a close getaway from where we live and there's no traffic like there is going up I-70. The owner has done it up really nice and quaint. We love the rustic decor! It's very homey feeling!! :) Would highly recommend this cabin for a relaxing getaway!!
We enjoyed our stay at Elk Creek Cabin. Even though the temps outside barely rose above 20 during the day, dropping below zero most nights, there were extra heaters and an abundant supply of blankets to keep us warn at night. The cabin exceeded our expectations.
