Our comfy deluxe oceanfront property is spacious (777 square feet with a 150-square-foot lanai) with one bedroom and one bathroom. The Master Bedroom has a CALIFORNIA KING-SIZE BED and the Living Area has a QUEEN SIZE sleeper sofa. The condo comfortably sleeps a maximum of four guests. Central Air and ceiling fans provide maximum comfort. With our lanai overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean and Islands of Lanai and Molokai, it is the picture-perfect place for your morning coffee or your evening cocktail. This home boasts amazing sunrise and sunset views!

The Royal Kahana has a beachfront swimming pool, beachfront BBQ area, complete on-site fitness room, tennis courts, a popular pickle ball court, ping pong table, shuffleboard, and an onsite Aloha Activities Center/Concierge. Be sure to attend the activities presentation and FREE continental breakfast offered by Aloha Concierge's early in your stay. Across the street is Kahana Gateway Center, a small shopping center with restaurants such as the Maui Brewing Company. McDonalds, Maui Dive Shop, Whaler's convenience store, a gas station, a coffee shop, souvenir shop, and ATMS are also located in the Center.

Lahaina Town, Kaanapali Beach, and Kapalua Resort are minutes away. Championship golf at both the Kapalua Golf Course (home of the annual SBS PGA Tour Championship) and the Royal Kaanapali Golf Club (home of the annual PGA Senior Skins Game) are just minutes away.

*Beach information

The beach fronting the Royal Kahana experiences seasonal ocean current changes that influence the beach’s physical appearance and size. During the fall and winter, it is not uncommon that these currents sweep away a very large amount of sand, which will gradually return back in spring and summer, based on the ocean's current activity. Our homeowners Assoc., The County of Maui, and the State of Hawaii are working diligently to return Kahana Bay to its full potential.

This circumstance, unfortunately, affects the accessibility of our valued guests to the beach. While there may not be, at times, direct access from the property to the beach during the fall and winter season, there is a public beach access within 5 minutes walking distance.

Our guests' safety is of the utmost concern for us. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

Unit #1009 at the Royal Kahana Resort was the perfect condo for our trip to Maui. It is perfectly appointed and all the amenities you could hope for. Heavenly views from the lanai, great snorkeling right outside your door, and visiting sea turtles a few yards out from the beach. The owner left a welcome note for us upon arrival and 2 days later called to meet us. The location is great for anything you might want to do. Close to Lahaina as well as anything you might want to do on the North shore. Only 30 min. from the airport . I would highly encourage any one to make this unit your travel destination while visiting Maui.

the condo was dated, view spectacular

We were disappointed at the site of the erosion, knowing that it's no ones fault, perhaps the fees should reflect the state of the property and pool area.

Owner's Response: Rosemarie, Thank you for your note. As you are aware as a returning guest of ours; in 2015, all of Kahana Bay experienced some of the worst storms in history. All of Maui experienced some beach erosion. Kahana Bay was hit hard and yes, we did lose some of our beach. At times, we have more beach then other times. Right now (Dan and I just left Maui), we have a beautiful beach. The last few years from April – November, we have beach access. The winter months, we get a NW swell that takes away a good part of our beach. We are working with the County, the State and the nine resorts along the bay to restore the bay to its former glory. We are well into a multimillion-dollar project. We make sure all of our guests are aware of the erosion through our VRBO post, our FB page; rkmaui and our website; rkmaui (dot) com. We have eight homes, and are the managers of eight more for friends of ours all at the Royal Kahana. This particular home is one of my parents. Each home is uniquely decorated in the style reflecting the islands and the owner. I am surprised that you thought this one-bedroom oceanfront home was dated. I am pleased you enjoyed the unobstructed oceanfront view. It is amazing. As I mentioned, Dan and I were just on-island. In fact, my stepmother and I had the pleasure of meeting you in the home. The pool deck was repainted in late May perhaps that was after you left. With the salt water and ocean air, our management team is always working on updating the resort. I wish you had shared your concerns with me then. Our pool is beautiful, one of the few heated pools on the island. As always, we invite all our prospective guests to look at all of our homes on our website. The pictures accurately reflect each specific home. The Royal Kahana is in a great location, our homes are beautiful and there are so many great beaches and activities to explore on the Island. As far as the rates are concerned, we do constantly monitor our rates and our prices are among the best, reflecting the season, and the resort. I expect our rates to increase as our shoreline is returned. I am also pleased that you were able to take advantage of our returning guest discount. I do hope we can welcome you back again. Mahalo

Amazing time in paradise.

We arrived during one of the largest rain storms in recent history. The aloha spirit was alive and well. We did our shopping during the rain and were greeted to a beautiful sunrise the following day. The condo was perfect with beautiful views of the whales playing and constant breezes blowing in. The condo was nicely equipped an exactly as advertised. While the beach is currently nonexistent, the pool area is nice and the barbeques work great. There are great beaches minutes away. If you are looking for a nice adventure we recommend Alii Nui. This is a sailing ship that is first class. We enjoyed a sunset cruise and a snorkel trip with them. They also do whale watching and Molikini trips. The best thing is they pick up and deliver you back to the Royal Kahana so you don't have to drive. The food was great and all the drinks top shelf.

We also did the sunrise on Haleakala as well as a waterfall tour on the road to Hana. Everything was terrific. We managed to screw up our reservations to the condo but Shelly and Dan really helped us out and were able to accommodate the additional day.

You can't go wrong with this condo if you are looking for a clean, comfortable, and very relaxing place to stay while visiting Maui.

Beautiful view and surf sound from living room AND bedroom

In my experience it's very hard to find one-bedroom units ocean front where the bedroom also faces the ocean. VERY hard. So this unit was a wonderful find for us. I have never been so completely relaxed after a vacation. The surf sound is SO soothing. The unit is very tastefully furnished and the bed and bedding are high quality and comfortable. The grounds are nothing to write home about and the beach, while we were there, wasn't usable as it had been wiped out by the huge storm earlier in the year. But they were working on it and I think it should be restored soon. The pool is fine. And it's a very short walk (two buildings over) to the public beach, which is lovely. The location of the Royal Kahana is great as it's an easy walk to a general store, The Maui Brewing Company, Dollies (great pizza and other foods in a convivial atmosphere with full bar), and the beach restaurant at Sands of Kahana, adjacent to the public beach mentioned above. Everyone walks in the early mornings up and down the main road beside the sea. There was a sense of community and friendliness to the place that we enjoyed. The building's interior, outside the units, is spare and other than the lobby, which has plate glass directly onto the water and is lovely, isn't much. It's 12 stories, but the elevators are efficient. Nice people behind the desk and as concierge. Also there's a very charming women's clothing and gift store across the street called Women Who Run with Wolves that I enjoyed.

Great location and gorgeous views!

From the minute we opened the entry door, we knew we had made the right choice in RK #1009. Everything was clean and fresh. The condo is very well stocked and just as described in HomeAway. The views were gorgeous and the ocean is so close that you can here the waves all of the time. One of our main objectives of this trip was to see the whales and we could watch them right off the lanai. This condo is within walking distance to several small eating establishments and it's just a short drive to shopping and other restaurants. We were able to travel to several other parts of the island that we haven't seen before.

Million dollar view

Wow. What beautiful place to spend your Hawaiian vacation. If anything it is better than advertised! Plenty of room for my wife and I and everything you could want in a condo. But it is the sunrises and sunsets from the lanai that will stay in my memory. Absolutely beautiful.

Sadly falling into the ocean and complete disrepair

We booked a month stay and left after 2 weeks because they were undertaking serious grounds repair. The pool house is now half in the ocean and the grounds are completely gone. Nothing looks like the photos, the tennis courts are in complete disrepair and unusable, no pickle ball, no ping pong, no business center, no pool wi-if. I agree with other comments about the condo (it is Maui Outrigger hotel as well as owned condo units) in that staff won't look guess in the eye, are basically trying to hide, and are unwilling to share any accurate info about the state of the hotel. Inside condo was lovely, exactly as pictures show. But the apt and the pool were a wind tunnel while we were there. This may have been the weather, but we relocated to Kihei which was lovely, despite wind and rains. The owners were extremely helpful and responsive at all stages. But, really just do a bit of internet research about this part of Kahana, the Royal Kahana and its neighbouring hotels, and you will see this loss of beach and property has been in process for years. The mayor says it is an emergency to the property owners but only because they did not take precautionary measures and it is NOT an emergency to local governments. This place was clearly gorgeous in the past, but those days are now firmly in the past. Sad.

Owner's Response: Aloha Janet, We are sorry that the resort was in such poor condition during your stay. The owners have and are continuing to take steps to repair and protect the resort from further storm damage. We do, unlike the other Kahana Bay Resorts, have a beach restoration plan that is ongoing and should be completed in 2.5-3 years that is to restore our beach so that we will have 50-100 feet of sand in front of the resort. We are in the second year of this multi-million dollar project. While the beach has eroded up to our poolside cabana, steps have been taken to protect it and it is not falling into the ocean. We are also working on repairing the damage that was done to our oceanfront lawn area by heavy equipment that was on site doing erosion control. The shuffle board and ping pong table are open however our tennis courts are closed until further notice. We hope that after our beach project is completed you will at least stop by and see if the resort is more to your liking. Mahalo, Dan
