Our sandy Gulf beach is no more than a 5 minute peaceful walk from the front gate. (We timed it!) You will pass charming historical cottages on the way and Boca Grande's famous pink library! A day at the beach, excellent shelling, fishing and some of Florida's best sunsets all happen so close to your door.
Silver King is on 10th Street. The heart of the village of Boca grande begins at 7th. It's a short walk, bike, or golf cart ride on dedicated paths to fine restaurants, unique shops, live theater and support businesses. Once you are on the island, there is no need for a car. We all ride our bikes or golf carts, or walk. (There are shuttles from nearby airports, so you can save the rental car hassle and cost if you wish.)
We love staying often in our totally remodeled getaway. It is complete with a well-supplied new kitchen, all new appliances, totally remodeled bathrooms and two newly screened and re-tiled patios.
The small Silver King complex is two attractive Spanish style buildings, three stories high, 20 units total. The requirement for no less than 30 day rentals make it very quiet and friendly. Completely open on one side to the Bayou, tennis courts plus security gates toward an attractive quiet street on the front side, pool area on the north end and a spacious landscaped yard to the south, it is a very secluded and safe environment. This makes for a great getaway for any age family or couple. Whether you are a snowbird couple, a fisherman or an active family, our vacation retreat is for you. Come stay for one, two or three months - especially in the winter!
We live in Central Florida and purchased this condo with retirement in mind. The better part of our first year was spent in a complete remodel, from the wiring out.
Then we enjoyed putting furniture and personal items in place and, 'moved in' in 2006. We love Boca G, but also enjoy our lakeside home in Windermere, near Orlando. But surprise, surprise! Four new grandchildren came along in three short years. Away from home we go! While living our busy life, we can share Silver King with others.

Why Boca Grande?
We spent half of our honeymoon here n the Gasparilla Inn, a few years back -- more than we care to mention! That 'half' was somewhat about fishing. We still laugh about nighttime snook fishing off the railroad trestle! (Some enjoyed it better than others!)
Boca Grande became part of our lives. As we raised our children, we brought them here often on vacations. They and their young children now love it as well. We always feel a sense of well bring as we drive down the causeway and over the bridge -- amazed at the clear blue expanse of water left and right.
In addition to all that this unique barrier island village has to offer, Silver King's superb location makes it hard to beat -- one minute to your dock, five minute walk to the beach and ten minutes walk to town - walk, bike or golf cart on dedicated paths. My husband kept calling our month at Silver King "restorative". There is just nothing to stress over! No traffic hassles, no congestion, no lines, no rude people! There's really no reason to leave the island unless you have to shop in a Walmart or department store or need gas for your car - unlikely since you'll usually walk or ride a bike or a golf cart - but there are no gas stations on the island. There is a super farmers market every Friday from 9:30-1:30 in season. I can vouch for the seafood and produce, but there were lots of other interesting vendors, too. There are numerous wonderful restaurants within a mile or two of the condo. Everything in the description and the other reviews is 100% accurate. I would only add that the floor plan of the condo made it easy to have our grandkids for a few nights because the extra bedrooms are at the other end of the unit from the living area, so the adults didn't have to be extra quiet after the kids' bed time. The other thing I would note is that I was pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of all the other residents whether they were owners or renters. We were also impressed by the cultural opportunities available through the community center and the library. We enjoyed this winter get-away SO much that we have already signed up for TWO months for next year!
We have vacationed at this property on 2 previous occasions. Once on a romantic anniversary get away and once with adults and teens like this time. This versatile property served all retreats well. We are nature lovers and this location on Boca Grande offers up one delight after the next with comfort and style. Our kids love to fish and we love to explore in the kayaks and the nooks of the island. Manatee alerts and snook swimming in the light beams off the dock below this condo, were captivating! Our nightly ritual was to walk across the street to watch the sunset on the quiet, endlessly long beach and return home and sip wine on the porch overlooking the canal/dock. The boys would catch fish and show them off as we looked on from above or joined them to take a picture of the big one below. Perfect! Once a local Captain picked us up in his boat at 3 a.m. to go Tarpon fishing. We simply rolled out of bed, down the elevator and into the boat waiting at the dock directly behind our condo. A 5 minute venture. NICE! Kayaking the mangrove tunnels or paddling out of the canal to skirt the island was a breeze since we could store our kayaks on the property beside the water. Renting a golf cart and exploring the multitude of beautiful vistas and endearing Boca haunts, shoots island fever in us quicker than anything. The sense of freedom scooting along on that cart leaves the mainland in the dust instantly.
In addition, this condo is a short distance from the shops and across the street from the library. Now that is not a usual cause for a yelp, but this library has a museum quality shell collection, a children's reading room that made me want to rent wee ones and a courtyard that is so charming I looked for a chance to steal away for a good read.
While this location is amazing, the inside of this condo is equally inviting. Everything is top quality: Appliances, Furniture, Décor, Linens, Dishware, Beds... This says it sleeps 6 and means it. Every person will have a great bed, privacy and quiet! Cooking dinners was fun because they have thought of everything you need and it is all top notch. In addition, I kept discovering clever creature comforts and hand selected island delights in every room. This condo is a great balance of warmth, class and utility. In addition, the owners were 100% reliable and conscientious in every communication.
We have many cherished memories made in this place. Hope you get the chance to create a few of your own.
The Condo at the Silver King was perfect in every detail. It was located in walking distance from the heart of Boca Grande including its many fabulous restaurants and shops. Directly across the quaint main street and separate golf cart path was the beach. What I found most appealing however was the Condominium itself. The Silver King complex was well maintained and landscaped. The Condo unit was well furnished. The unit was well situated on the second level and overlooking the mangrove filled bay. We were greeted by a family of manatees and a myriad of tropical birds. There is a screened in porch which overlooks the entire scene and is a perfect place to relax after a busy day fishing, golfing, shopping, or at the beach. The kitchen is especially spacious and modern which is always welcomed. Finally, the owners are special and always available to respond to any questions about Boca or anything else. I cannot recommend this owner's facility at the Silver King enough.
My stay at Silver King was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable getaways that I have ever had. The Reems’ condo was the epitome in comfort and is the perfect stage for all the island activities. It is tastefully decorated and fully equipped with all the conveniences of home. In fact, it does not feel like a rental unit at all, but rather a very comfortable home in a very special location. I loved sitting out on the balcony and watching the activities on the bayou.
