About Rachael Schaaf
We actively manage this gorgeous property and do whatever it takes to make sure our guests have a fantastic vacation!

Why Rachael Schaaf chose Matlacha
There are no other properties in the area like ours. We have three cottages confined in a gated area, with kayaks and paddle boards, plenty of outdoor seating, boat slips, and views that will take your breath away. We love our four-legged guests, and with our gated confines, they are free to roam safely.
What makes this Cottage unique
Matlacha has many waterfront rental properties, but we have yet to see one that is as clean and tastefully decorated as ours. If you care about that sort of thing, we're your best choice! We are constantly improving the property like it's our very own home.

A Gem!
This place was heaven! Turned off our phones and totally enjoyed the experience. The Snook Cottage is a GEM! Fishing was great my hubby caught a 22 inch Sheaphead from Dock! Sunrises were amazing . Would recommend to all.
Guaranteed Relaxation
We are regular visitors to the Snook...we are always treated to one of the most comfortable and serene settings one could imagine. We love picking up some fish from the shop across the street and preparing it in luxury kitchen at the Snook....enjoying the fantastic sunsets....there is a great locals bar just a few steps away (82 steps) where you can listen to some music and have some cold beers.....this time we were able to bring our dog Margaret with us who enjoyed exploring the docks and taking naps in the sun....all in a very secure and safe setting. The cottage itself is perfect with a comfy bed, great wifi, and a constant cool breeze.....
C&A from NH
My husband and I had a wonderfully relaxing time staying at The Snook! I would agree with everything that the reviewer from March 2014 said except that the shared wall is presently shared with an art gallery which occupies the space closest to the street. Since there was little to no activity directly behind the shared wall we rarely heard anything. We enjoyed sitting just outside the French doors reading and watching the wildlife during the day and enjoying a couple glasses of wine during the evening. We enjoyed talking with the other guests the few times we saw them. We explored around Pine Island and walked around some of the neighborhoods just over the bridge. The cottage was very functional, clean, nicely decorated, and just so unique in its location over the water. The owners Linda and Chris were very nice to talk with and immediately helpful in solving a minor problem.
Matlacha has been described as "Old Florida" which we enjoyed. Though there is a Publix fairly close by which came in handy. We wanted a relaxing vacation and staying at the Snook was perfect for that.
Peaceful cottage
We stayed at the Snook cottage and loved it. So peaceful, having coffee on the water and watching the pelicans dive. You can hear the water at night too. This is a perfect place for a couple. Do not let the fact that it is a studio turn you away. This cottage is spacious in side and right over the water. Another plus is that everything is beautifully decorated and it has a nice new kitchen and bath.
Great Week at the Snook
If you're considering a stay in Matlacha, Fl., this should be your choice. Very clean and modern cottage, on the water and close to everything you'll need. Just spent 7 days in this cottage and cannot wait to return. In a private setting yet within walking distance of food and entertainment.
Thank you, we are SO happy you enjoyed your stay! We hope to see you again :)

We hardly even left the cottage!
The Snook has everything you need in a beautifully decorated and fabulously designed space. It's a great location and doesn't get any more 'on the water.'
The cottage: The kitchen is upgraded and lovely. The basic home appliances are available. It's very clean along with plenty of service dishes. The bed was very comfortable with soft, clean sheets. By far, my favorite thing to do was open all of the French doors to the water and enjoy the wildlife/weather with a cup of coffee from bed! You just can't beat it. Plenty of storage! I can't speak to the TV/cable since we didn't turn it on. The WiFi worked well and was reliable. The bathroom is large and comfortable with a stand-up shower.
About the outdoor space: Your "porch" is on pilings over the water, so you're essentially walking out to your own dock from the living space. It's super cool. The Mr. spent many hours walking down the dock nearest our cottage and the other dock on the property to fish. You do share a common area with the property's two other rentals, but we rarely saw anyone else even though they were both rented. There are sitting areas both near the buildings and at the end of the dock.
About Matlacha: The property is in the middle of some great food and music. Eclectic and awesome. Right over the bridge (easily walkable) is a ton of great shopping. I think we ate our weight in seafood. YAY! We frequented both Bert's Bar and Andy's Seafood. Bert's is low-key with an ample selection of fried things, beer and live music every night. You can actually hear the steel drums from Bert's while your laying in the sun at the Snook. :) Andy's does amazing take-homes and great sandwiches. We really enjoyed exploring Pine Island as well and had a great meal at Tarpon Point.
We saw dolphin off the dock every day, usually several times. We have some great photos of a manatee and her baby right under the dock. Tons of birds and varieties of fish. I loved watching the fish through the plantation shutters in the low water next to the Snook.
The only potential issue some travelers may have is that the Snook shares a common wall with a Kayak rental place. There's regularly loud music and doorbell ringing heard through the wall during the day. It's a very friendly, upbeat location and the sounds reflect that. We loved everything about it and even found ourselves saying, "big kayak day today!" It didn't bother us at all!
We would gladly rent at this location often!
Map
Matlacha is the perfect spot for fishing, kayaking, and boating. Please note, if you are not familiar with the area, the closest beach by car will be about 45 minutes to either ft. Myers beach or sanibel island. If you have a boat, you can get to cayo costa or sanibel in about that time or less, depending on your speed.
