|Minimum Stay||3 - 4 nights|
“Big Blue” is a large house – over 4,200 square feet – located in the beautiful and historic Hyde Park, North End district of the city, literally steps away from some of Boise’s best dining and parks, within walking distance of downtown, and a short bike ride from the best that Boise has to offer. (Rental Car available booked thru Relay Rides)
The house has four bedrooms, a very large living room with bar, formal dining room, finished basement/entertainment area, backyard deck w/BBQ, office, and is stocked with everything you need to enjoy your stay – we even provide mountain bikes, tennis rackets, and all kinds of toys.
Big Blue is perfect for larger groups and families. There are two master suites, a kids’ room (with a bunk bed), and a forth room that serves as either an office (it’s equipped with a desk, printer, and everything you’ll need to get work done) or as a guest room (there’s a queen-sized futon). Eight people can sleep comfortably in the bedrooms.
The best part of the house is its location: in historic Hyde Park, you are literally within a block of Goody’s candy shop, Java Coffee Shop, Hyde Park Bar & Grill, numerous restaurants, antique shops, book stores, spas, and many boutique shops. You’re also a short 5-minute walk to Camel’s Back Park, with hiking and running trails, tennis courts, and playgrounds.
Although you’re close to everything, you’ll enjoy the peace and quiet of the leisurely neighborhood and the seclusion of the backyard deck with all the BBQ supplies provided.
Other amenities include large screen plasma TVs with cable hook-ups and DVD players, Wi-Fi, and a property manager that lives in the neighborhood and can help you with everything you need.
A great house for executives, families or large groups. You'll find that you don't even need a car when you stay here, as the wide tree-lined streets are very pedestrian and bicycle friendly.
Within one mile of the house: grocery shopping, numerous restaurants and bars, yoga studios and spas, hospitals and clinics, theaters and cinemas, and much, much more.
A third-generation Idahoan, I bought this house but live out of state with my family now. We couldn’t bear to sell it, and we would like others to have the opportunity to enjoy it as much as we have.
Alisha Coy purchased this house in 2006
The size and location: big enough for large groups, close to everything but quiet and peaceful, wonderful neighbors and close to everything.
We love the fact that we never have to plan anything here: you can wake up and decide to bike to the Boise River and enjoy the zoo or museums there, or walk to the park for a game of tennis or some hiking, or stroll downtown for the Farmer's Market or to spend the day shopping and dining. You can do nearly anything you like and be close enough to home to easily come back for a snack, nap or to get some work done in the home office, or entertain friends or family in the big living room or in the backyard.
We stayed at the 13th St. home during spring break. It was a wonderful place to hang with all of our kids and grand kids! Walk to great food, drink, and entertainment. It was great taking the grand kids to the ice cream parlor - and it's a short walk to the park too! Near downtown and easy commute to anywhere! The house was clean, warm and inviting and we will definitely stay again!
This was perfect for our family Christmas gathering. Since our son, daughter-in-law and new granddaughter live nearby, they could walk back and forth to join the big crowd. We planned to set up a Christmas tree, but were pleasantly surprised to open the door and find one already set up. House handles 8 adults comfortably. Kitchen worked well for cooking big meals. We were snowed in, but able to walk to Boise Co-op and Albertsons for groceries. Hyde Park restaurants are convenient and downtown Boise is walking distance. We walked to Boise Art Museum, but it would be a long walk for some. Manager was very helpful. Besides Christmas tree, she made sure we had salt for steps and left a few Christmas treats for us. We would definitely rent again.
Rented it to visit our daughter who lives in Boise, this location was excellent for all. Walked down the street to park, coffee, great food. Also the few nights we did cook, the kitchen was well enough equipped to get the job done. House was cozy and ample room. Would not hesitate to reserve this home again!
A group of my running friends met in Boise for the Onward Shay Marathon and all stayed at Alisha's Big Blue house. We loved it!! There was great private space for everyone because the floors and bedrooms were divided up so nicely and the living room was spacious enough when we all wanted to be together. We could easily walk everywhere - to the great Co-op food store in one direction and awesome coffee place in the other. For the race itself, the spectator part of our crew could easily get to points to see them multiple times in the early miles.
The house was clean and cozy and in a great neighborhood.
Alisha was super responsive and left us everything we needed.
We were fortunate to visit Boise for a week in colorful Fall. What beautiful trees! The house was great, and in a prime location on the North End where all the beautiful, turn of the century old homes are. It was large for just the two of us, but we chose it for its location and the fact that they take dogs. It was only half a block from numerous restaurants and shops. The fenced back yard was wonderful for our two dogs. Working with the manager, Alisha Coy, was a pleasure. She was very accommodating and helpful. We loved it!
We absolutely loved our stay at Big Blue in Hyde Park! We came into town for a wedding and had plenty of space for us each to spread out. We enjoyed the backyard everyday, having our coffee in the mornings and grilling dinners at night. We were very close to everything we needed which made the trip even better. Property manager was very easy to work with and very accommodating to us. It was a pleasurable experience through out all of the planning and transactions.
The only things I would suggest is that the pans in the kitchen were really worn, so it made cooking more of a challenge. The reason I use VRBO on trips is so that I can cook, so the kitchen is very important. Also, I realize the home is a historic home, but each level had a very different temperature and we couldn't get that worked out. My husband and I were on the main level and were hot every night, while my son was in the basement and was freezing. My daughters were upstairs and were perfect.
Those last two items did not change how we loved the house or how we really enjoyed our stay, but is the only reason for not giving it the full five stars.
We rented this house for 4 nights to stay for my son's graduation from Boise State. We had anticipated there would be more people staying with us, but it worked out great-everyone got their own space. We had a small party to celebrate and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed-including coffee filters! The TVs were great, comfortable furniture and beds. It was cold but got the heater to work. Walked to the shops and restaurants in the neighborhood-which was lovely. The property manager was great (Alisha), no problems arriving or departing.
Would definitely stay here again!
The beautiful, serene and historic Hyde Park area of Boise's North End, less than a mile from downtown Boise, St. Luke's Hospital and the Capitol Building, and steps from boutique shops, restaurants, spas and yoga studios, Camel's Back Park and more.
