The Kulakane is the most distinctive condominium building on the beautiful West Maui shore. Picturesque views of neighboring islands and spectacular sunsets. Watch the whales, dolphins and sea turtles up close while relaxing at our oceanside pool or from your private Lanai.
Our grounds feature an oceanside pool, elegant Japanese gardens, gas grills, and on-site laundry. First class golf courses, fine dining, night life and shopping at Kaanapali Village and Lahaina are just a five-minute drive away.
Unlike the mega-resorts on Kaanapalli Beach, the Kulakane has just 42 units, and boasts award winning architecture. Walk right out to the beach and find some of the best snorkeling anywhere - the reefs in front are home to honu (Hawaiian green sea turtles) and a wonderful array of Hawaiian sea life.
This unit is on the 3rd floor and has an unobstructed view of the ocean, islands (Molokai and Lanai) and incredible sunsets daily. This unit has been a second home for years until August 2013. It has two comfortable bedrooms, full kitchen, extra loft sitting room, 2 full bathrooms and an ocean front lanai
The unit is tastefully furnished with a Hawaiian flair and include: TV with cable, DVD units, stereos, linens, fully equipped kitchens and small electronic safes.
There is a laundry facility, oceanside pool, and gas grills on site as well as free parking and wifi internet.
My friend and I spent a wonderful week in this awesome condo. The views are spectacular and we enjoyed soaking up the sunsets as well as spotting whales and turtles every day. The furnishings look like the are brand new and decor is welcoming and classy. The master bed is really comfortable! We loved listening to the crashing waves throughout the day. The value of this condo is top notch and I will look forward to returning.
The location is great and the host is professional. The view from the balcony is great. Every morning we were so excited to start with rainbows during breakfast. The sunset was also incredible. We will definitely recommend it to our friends.
As it was our first time in Maui, we appreciated the great instructions on how to get from the airport in our rental car. Took us slightly under an hour to get to Kulakane. Apartment 304 was a short 2-flight stairs up and the immediate sunset view of the sea from the balcony was breath-taking. The apartment was spacious with all fresh linens and towels nicely laid out when we arrived. House rules on the fridge were clear and concise. The large TV in the living room and stereo were nice. There's also a smaller TV in the upstairs bedroom with a king bed. The 2nd bedroom is just off the front door with 2 single beds. Both bedrooms were en-suite. A laundry room is available on-site ($1.25 each for washing and drying) so keep lots of quarters handy for laundry. The pool area (only accessible with the apartment key) leads to a small but nice beach on the right side where we went snorkelling and swimming every afternoon.
We loved our stay at the condo in Maui. Instructions were clear how to get into the condo. Everything was just as in the pictures -- clean and comfortable. The view from the patio was beautiful. We saw turtles swimming and whales. There is a nice access to the beach for swimming. We would stay here again.
Beautiful view, well kept, very warm until evening when there's a breeze, not a good spot to snorkel, swimming pool very small, no condiments in room not even salt etc... One set of towels for the whole week.
A friend and I stayed at the Kulakane during the Christmas holiday.
If you read other reviews about the Kulakane, my thoughts are generally the same. It's a well maintained complex with lovely well manicured grounds. There is no beach, the pool is small, but the views from every room are 5 star. Nothing on the island can beat it for the money! There is a fair amount of road noise in the evenings and early morning. All bedrooms are in the back/roadside part of the condo. There is also a local rooster and 2 yappy dogs across the street that will "greet" you in the morning. No elevators, so be prepared for up to 3 flights of stairs. It's in a nice little neighborhood within walking distance of grocery stores, restaurants, a coffee shop, snorkel rentals etc.
This unit certainly met our needs. There were a few simple things that the property manager took immediate action on. (no welcome book, lock box not working, many lights burned out). The unit was very comfortable and we loved keeping the sliding door open to hear the surf. (no lock on the door, but being on the 3rd floor it was safe). The unit was surface clean, but could use an occasional deep clean (vacuum behind bedside tables etc). The kitchen was fully stocked, but very unorganized and we had to hunt for what we needed. A few minutes to organize the kitchen drawers and cupboards would leave a tenant feeling this was a better cared for unit.
We researched before and during our stay on Maui for other possible places to stay for our next visit. We determined that for the price, you can not beat the location or the view of the Kulakane. We would probably take a chance on a different unit.
