Vicki Weiss or Steve Gordon purchased this house in 2000
We bought this property in 2000 because of the views (both forest and ocean view)and how private Coral Road is We built this house in 2010 and loving here every moment. Rural but a 15 min drive to every thing....
Watching the Cruise ship heading up to Alaska . Seeing and hearing the winter sea loins barking to keep the Orcas away.
We arrived to a modern, immaculate space, which housed everything we needed for our stay on the island, complete with sand toys for the little one, and comfortable chairs for the older ones.
Just across the street from the beach, with an easy walk, we enjoyed the stunning views of the ocean, and beachcombing. The yard secure enough for the 18 month old that we chased constantly.
The kitchen was stocked with enough dishes for our family of 5, with extras for the Great Grandparents when they visited. Loved the newly renovated bathroom, with the seascape décor.
Daily contact from the owners via email, made us feel welcome and cared for, still leaving us our privacy.
Would highly recommend. Thanks Steve & Vicki for making our stay seamless.
We stayed at the 'sweet' for the May long weekend while visiting with family on Vancouver Island. Vicky and Steve were most accommodating with our needs. We loved the hot tub, PVR and entertainment system, well equipped and designed kitchen, the airy, sun filled, open feeling of the space, and the decorative charm. Travelling with my elderly mother we found the accommodation very well suited for her accessibility needs.
As we only had a few days we never had much time to explore the wonderful trails and beaches in the surrounding area. We really hope to return to the area and enjoy the 'sweet' once again.
I stayed here with my husband and our 2 kids, and my in laws with their 2 kids lots of room, love how the doors opened into the front lawn for the kids to run around. It's sort of central to lots of different beaches and there are lots of farms advertising fruit, veggies and eggs along the way. The 'sweet' is clean, comfortable and well stocked. The beds are comfy and layout works well. Bates beach is a 2 minute walk and my husband and a friend rented a little fishing boat to try their luck in the bay. There are lots of closely trails for hiking that we didn't get to try. Miracle beach is quite close, but we preferred Kye beach. All in all we had a fabulous time!
We found the suite very comfortable and liked cooking in the well equipped kitchen. The owners were helpful and welcoming. We would recommend the suite to travellers who have their own car as it wouldn't be easily accessible otherwise. The suite is in a new home, located on a very quiet road beside the beach. The ocean is close by, but Bates Beach isn't much of a beach - very rocky and strewn with driftwood. We found the suite a good base for exploring parks, visiting Mount Washington, golfing and shopping, etc in Courtney.
The property was very nice to stay at and the owners were very nice and accommodating!
We stayed at Vicki and Steve's cottage for 3 nights. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen had all the utensils you could ever need! It was nice having a carport to park under in case of rain! The floors are concrete which I thought was a little weird, but they were heated! So it worked out great! The bathtub was a little high, so it was sort of difficult to get in and out of, but they had a little stool by the bathtub that helped in getting in and out. There is a new sofa (or maybe just reupholstered?) in the living room. Other than that, all the photos were right on. The safe was a nice plus! The only downside (and this may be our fault) is that you can see very little of the ocean and we did not find the beach that led to the places mentioned in their description of the property. We found the access to the beach, but the beach was not much of a beach, and what was there, was very rocky. We went to the Courtenay Farmer's Market, which was a great find. Also, Abuelo's down the street from the cottage has the best chips and tortillas!!! Overall, we were very pleased with our stay. Thank you, Vicki & Steve!
