Loved the unit , perfect for a family of four. Unit was clean and spacious. Only thing which would be great to have is a washer dryer. Other than that we loved it.
My 19 year old son and I, had a wonderful time. He enjoyed picking whatever fruit he could find on the property; limes, papaya, and pomegranate. He even found nino fruit, but we are not sure of it's edibility. The hana was clean, the showers were hot, and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. I like firm beds and these were exceptionally soft, but I had no trouble sleeping quite soundly. It is conveniently located close to CSC café with a broad selection of good food available from 6:30 am till around 9 pm. And Takata Market is just a little further down the main road. The locals are friendly and helpful. My son and I enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed our stay at this property a lot. The house was comfortable, private and quiet. North Kohala is a really easy place to relax and enjoy all the Big Island has to offer. There was a cute grocery store around the corner (Takata Grocery) and a great cafe on the corner that is a local hangout. Their food is really good. Evie is a good hostess and we enjoyed meeting her. We had a wonderful time here and would recommend this property without hesitation.
We enjoyed our stay here. The hosts were very friendly. There was fresh fruit waiting for us when we arrived. The house was clean, and comfortable. We felt very safe leaving our things in the house when we went exploring, since the hostess lives on the same property. The only thing lacking was enough spoons and glasses in the kitchen. I would recommend this place to others.
This was a great base from which to explore the northwest corner of the big island. Quick drive to the Pololu Valley, and to beaches on the north and west coasts. We took full advantage of the kitchen, since this place is just down the highway from a full supermarket and one mile from a great farmers market. The host was very friendly and helpful, and gave us plenty of privacy.
As the listing says, this is in the country. The neighbors have all sorts of animals, including cows, chickens, dogs, and horses. Nothing that impacted our stay: there were no smells, the roosters were fairly well behaved, and the dogs ranged from friendly to all bark and no bite.
I've stayed at Elvira's property for two nights. I am very impressed with her excellent organization and hospitality. The house is clean and neat. Just like home. I will strongly recommend my coworkers and friends to stay here for their west coast visit in big island.
Within walking distance to library, grocery store, bank & cafe. 3-5 minute drive to historic Kamehameha Statue and several galleries, and downtown Hawi. 15 minute drive to Polulu Valley. 30-40 minutes away from Kohala Coast luxury resorts.
