Guanacaste Villa Rental Photos and Description

Three Bedroom Home With Ocean And Mountain Views, Infinity Pool, Yoga Deck

Very contemporary open art filled home, three bedrooms each with private indoor/outdoor bath offering beautiful views of both the ocean and mountains from high on a hill. A true experience of being in and surrounded by nature yet elegant.

The location of this property is enough out of town to offer total privacy and yet close enough to get to town and the beach quickly. The serenity is amazing, the views are magic! The infinity pool invites you to laze or swim laps while you gaze at the ocean. You can literally walk into the pool from both the living room area as well as the master suite. The gourmet kitchen, with lots of amenities, including an ice cream maker, has sliding windows that open up to the mountains so when you are preparing food, you have wonderful views. The yoga deck/art/massage studio, on top is the crowning jewel! You feel like you are on top of the world with 360 degree view of ocean and mountains and sky, nothing else besides lots of monkeys and birds! Our little family of monkeys traverse the property on a regular basis. You can spend hours watching them play. There are other decks to sun on or relax in the shade. The bedrooms all have private baths with outdoor/indoor showers. Art is integrated everywhere, including the owners light sculptures, architectural glass installations and paintings. The paintings are all for sale and the light sculptures are available for order. All of the furniture was designed by the owner and made specifically for the house.

There are most often bananas, papayas and mangoes available on the property for your enjoyment. Schedule a massage on the yoga deck with the finest massage therapist in Samara, enjoy a glass of wine while you watch the monkeys or play in the pool.

There intentionally are NO TV's, however there is internet so you can stay connected, watch movies online and listen to music. This is the place to have a REAL Costa Rica experience of being surrounded by the beauty and serenity of the natural environment while also being bathed in elegance. A place to relax, recharge your creative juices and most of all just enjoy! This is not an appropriate property for young children due to the lack of railings on top decks and the fact that the two bedrooms other than master have their own separate entrances from outside for privacy. It is ideal for up to three couples or families with older children. Due to the somewhat remote location of this property it is not possible to check in after dark (5:30) so it is advisable to plan your trip accordingly. Liberia airport is app 2 hrs away so if you are arriving there after 2:00, you should plan to check in the following day. San Jose airport is 4-5 hours away so unless you arrive before noon, you will also need to check in the following day. If your flight is late or some other problem occurs that makes you run late please advise property manager right away (506) 8383-9333.

About deanne sabeck

I am an internationally know professional glass artist and gallery owner working specifically in 'Light Sculpture' and devoted yogini

deanne sabeck purchased this villa in 2009

Why deanne sabeck chose Guanacaste

As an artist and yoga practitioner/teacher, I wanted to create a space that was private, serene and beautiful to recharge my creative energies, experience nature in a profound way, and be able to offer this same benefit to others. I found this property which is just a short distance from town and yet very private with gorgeous views of the ocean on one side and the mountains on the other. There is always a nice breeze up on this hill which keeps the house fresh and cool, little need for AC although it is in all of the bedrooms. I worked with an architect to design and build this spectacular house that is modern, very zen in feel and very open. An experience of living in nature in luxury!

All of the furniture was designed by me and made specifically for the house.

This is the place to have a real Costa Rica experience of being in the beauty, simplicity and serenity of nature.

What makes this villa unique

The serenity is amazing, the views are magic! The infinity pool invites you to laze or swim laps while you gaze at the ocean. paradise in costa rica

  • 5 of 5

I love staying here... the house is quiet and removed from the business of downtown Samara but only a short drive if you're craving the vibrant restaurant/bar scene. Perched up on a hill, you can do yoga on the rooftop terrace with an amazing view of the jungle. The place is always clean and peaceful. Deanne readily helps with anything you need and so does her neighbour Louise. Thanks to both of you for a wonderful stay! xo

Wonderful stay!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The property and views are even more lovely in real life. Deanne's artistic touch is evident throughout the home with her light sculptures, paintings, furniture and tile designs. Although it was a HOT week on the beach, the pool water stayed refreshing cool and there was always a steady breeze. The shaded yoga deck was a perfect spot for yoga, Pilates, meditation, reading, and stargazing. Some unexpected bonuses:

-The chaise lounges by the pool and on the yoga deck are very comfortable.

-We'd heard so much about car theft in Costa Rica that were were glad to have a garage for our 4 X 4 rental (which made getting up the driveway a non-issue.)

-The beach chair and hammock got a lot of use as we explored different beaches. (Playa Carillo was our favorite.)

-The well-equipped kitchen included a blender for our smoothies.

_Picnic table and patio provided another gathering spot

_Nice selection of books and a couple games

-Perfect sunset viewing spot from the plastic rocking chairs on the top of the garage. This became a nightly ritual.

Just as described... perfect place to get away ! Extremely helpful and easy to reach owner

We had the pleasure and great luck of finding Deanne's beautiful home available for the days that we needed for our visit to Samara. All that we had read about it, from both Deanne and other guests, left us with high expectations and we were not disappointed ! The tranquility, views, breezes, wildlife, pool, starry skies, layout and overall feeling of being a part of nature was all there . We loved the open air bathroom/showers (and the 2 frogs that lived in one of them !) and having the pool which always had both a sunny and shady part to it, due to the beautiful tree that's there... yes, it does "shed" it's leaves into the pool but that just reminded us of swimming in a lake (there is a net to scoop them out with, if they bother you ) ! The layout of the house gives complete privacy to 3 couples with bedrooms 2 and 3 (each with their own bathroom) located outside of the main part of the house (master, living room/kitchen area). The upstairs covered yoga deck provided a breezy, quiet place to read, nap or do some yoga ! In the evenings, a perfect place for sunsets followed by darkness for stargazing. Our days started shortly after sunrise with a drive to the beach to enjoy long walks and swims at Carillo (preferred this one, less populated) or Samara. By 9:30 we were usually off the beach and in town for a late breakfast and to avoid the scorching sun. The rest of the day we'd be at the house to enjoy the breezes, views and coolness of the pool...sometimes we'd make another trip to the beach and dinner in town, other days we'd grill something at the house ( butcher shop in town opposite soccer field, down from the ATM, has great meats. we LOVED the chicken ! ). There are several food stores but they are not supermarkets... if you have specific "tastes" and don't want to try Costa Rican versions of these, you may want to bring these from home. We found the kitchen equipped with all that we needed even though there's no microwave and never once missed a TV. We did rent an SUV and were happy that we did !

In closing, two words of caution: 1)check-in after dark ( 5-5:30 ish) doesn't happen ! Your flight may land at 1:30 but by the time you clear customs and immigration and get your rented car it can be a good hour or more later. The drive to Samara takes about 1 3/4 hours but can be longer when behind a scooter, on a road with very few passing zones ! 2) don't whack your shins on the mstr bdrm bed corners !

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for all your wonderful insights Reni! I do everything possible from my end to insure guest have a fantastic stay! Just to address the late arrival issue, I have now worked it out that if a guest needs to arrive after 5, it can be arranged with my neighbor, we just need to know in advance and it can be arranged up until 8:00 however that being said I still encourage guests to arrive before dark as it is a bit difficult to find your way and get your bearings in the dark!

A Slice of Heaven...

  • 5 of 5

Deanne's home was exactly what we were looking for in Samara - a beautiful and private sanctuary to come home to after days of beach activities. We really appreciated what we could tell was hard work and lots of thought on Deanne's part for the design and architecture of her retreat - each window and sitting area captured the winds and daylight as they changed throughout the day and offered incredible views. We caught many shooting stars on her rooftop at night and my personal favorite was reading in the early morning under the yoga deck - such beauty! We loved the openness of the house that worked to make sure you were never too far from the natural beauty of Costa Rica. Not to mention, Deanne was extremely responsive and accommodating to our needs. We truly felt like guests in her home! Louise, her long-time friend and Samara neighbor was also a charm. We were so very grateful for their help leading to and during our stay. We were sad to leave but happy to have a great place to stay in Samara! Thank you Deanne!

Refreshing Stay

  • 4 of 5

Our family (4 adults, and a 9 mth old baby) stayed for 4 weeks in March/April. This is our 3rd long visit to Costa Rica and our first to Samara. The views from this home are incredible, and the breezes that pass through the home are refreshing.

The house was a fine size for us, I think that it may have been tight for 6 adults; one bedroom, where our baby stayed, was quite small. The rooms are very private and all have comfortable beds, storage, AC, and ensuite baths. The bathrooms are all somewhat outdoors - the master shower is totally outside (walled in, open to the sky). The other bathrooms feel contained, but do have large spaces for creatures to come and go, which they do. That took some getting used to, even though other reviews and the listing referred to this! There was a whole family of large frogs living in one bathroom, we watched them at night. The family of monkeys visited frequently which was great to see. Many birds flitted about, and some horses grazed across a fence.

The kitchen has great cooking options, and a stunning view! It's reasonably well equipped but doesn't have a large coffee maker, we like to use the traditional costa rican drip/pour over method anyhow. The house did have some persistent water shortages which the manager worked to fix. We were very impressed with men who worked tirelessly.

The pool is a great place to spend the day. We liked that it was right off of the living room so that we could easily hear our music or be a part of conversations (and have drinks brought to us!). We enjoyed massages on the yoga deck. Kate from Drift in Samara was amazing and happily came to the house. We enjoyed coffee on the deck often.

Samara is a 10-15 minute drive or so. It's Costa Rica, you should have a 4x4. There are a number of restaurants and bars along the beach strip. We shopped at Super Iguana and Samara Organics. You can place your order with Samara Organics for fresh organic produce delivery. Twice we had fresh organic meat delivered to the bottom of the hill (house's driveway) by Tony the Butcher. This was a highlight. He was great to chat with and the food was top quality.

Overall a great stay. The indoor/outdoor design was great for views and breezes, but not so great for frogs, snakes, and creatures at night. But, this is Costa Rica so wildlife is a part of the appeal! We will return to Samara and look forward to seeing all of the great people we met while staying at Deanne's home.

Owner's Response: I am so glad to hear you and your family had such a wonderful time. I also appreciate your patience with the water situation. This area does have water issues during the dry season but as we are high on a hill it adds to the difficulty. That being said, we have since solved that issue by adding another tank at the bottom of the hill. I personally wanted the house to be very open to nature however I am slowly adding screens etc as while it is a romantic and beautiful idea, not always practical. You are welcome back anytime!
