Spacious 2 Bedroom/2 Bath, Seconds To A Private Beach

Come stay in this spacious 2bed/2bath condo, 60 seconds from the sands of the Caribbean. Just remodeled, every space is new, modern and fresh.

Condo is at the north end of Half Moon Bay in a garden setting, with 2 pools and a private beach area. Be on the beach, with your morning coffee, in 60 seconds. Forgot your sunglasses, book or need more coffee? No problem, a quick walk back to the condo and you are set. Snorkel from the beach out front; the bay is full of colorful fish, turtles, urchins, rays and more.

Daily maid service, drinking water, towels, soaps, and shampoos are included. We have a few movies and books and are adding more on each trip. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need for an afternoon snack or a full dinner.

Akumal is a quiet, friendly and peaceful place. Several good restaurants and small stores for last minute needs. We have a few souvenir shops and even a spa. Yal-Ku Lagoon is just 2 blocks away and offers a day of crystal clear snorkeling and swimming. There are also golf courses, dive shops and day trips to fish, dive or swim in fresh water caverns, called cenotes. Or of course, you can relax in the shade of a palapa while the gentle waves wash ashore and take your cares and stress out to sea.

Centrally located between Tulum and Playa Del Carmen. About 20 miles south, you can visit the beautiful ruins of Tulum, and many beach bars and restaurants. And 25 miles north, in Playa Del Carmen, you can find as much nightlife as you like, familiar stores, and the famous Fifth Avenue.

I invite you to be refreshed. Slow down and stroll along the shore. Enjoy a simple and relaxed way of life, where the days are long, the sun is warm and the nights are restful. It’s easy to get used to.

Great place you have provided for our stay! We love the location, proximity to Que Ondo, and private. quiet feel. Our children enjoyed the courtyard pool and iguanas. Only a short excursion into main square and Akumal beach. Will recommend your place to others and likely return ourselves when visiting Akumal.

Birthday Trip

We spent five wonderful nights here. Rhonda was very accommodating. Her directions were precise! The place was beautiful. Daily maid service was unexpected and an added bonus! Condo was stocked with everything we needed and then some. Beach area was so pretty and private. Can't say enough about this quaint private community. Do yourselves a favor and check out the local restaurants. We rented bicycles and explored all there was to offer for $6 a day! We truly fell in love with this little are. So much so, that we ended up purchasing a casita there of our own. We can't thank Rhonda enough for such a memorable trip.

Beautiful condo!

My family really enjoyed our stay in Rhonda's condo at La Iguana. It was comfortable, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The kitchen was especially nice - plenty of space to eat and prepare food, and a nice layout. Rhonda was accessible and helpful when we had a couple of issues with wireless and water. The wireless issue was resolved quickly. The water issue was actually a problem with the Akumal water supply. Hector, the property manager, was quick to get working on it and it was resolved without much hassle. He was also helpful to us with recommendations in Akumal. The property was pretty and well-maintained, with two pools. It's also walking distance to Yal-Ku Lagoon, which is a wonderful snorkeling area. We appreciated the snorkels and beach towels that Rhonda provided!

One thing to note about this property is that it does not have access to a true beachfront where you can walk into the surf. The beach area is really nice, with lounges, tables, and umbrellas, along with a pool that overlooks the area and a shower to rinse off. It bumps up against a rocky area at the shore, though. This area is also very pretty and fun to check out. We saw sea urchins tucked into the rocks. The entire north third or so of Half Moon Bay has rocky shoreline like this. The entire area is gorgeous and peaceful. Just keep in mind that you'll want to go to another part of Half Moon Bay or Akumal Beach if you want to play in the surf.

Nice, clean place, beautiful surroundings ~ water is a bit treacherous

We stayed in Rhonda's place for a week and loved the quiet, clean space. The beach is gorgeous, and there's plenty of lounge seating with great views. Really nice that the pool is right there, for when you want a quick dip to cool off.

However, the location is at the north end of the bay where the coral reef comes right up to the shore. Even with water shoes (which are a must here) the water is difficult to navigate -- very shallow even at high tide, and you have to step very carefully to avoid sharp rocks, coral and sea urchins. One of us, even while wearing water shoes, got a urchin spike in the foot that was painful and hard to remove. Each day, after lounging on the sand, we walked about 1/3 mile down the beach in order to swim in deeper waters and do a little snorkeling, where the bottom is rocky but not dangerous.

The staff were helpful, friendly and checked in on us regularly. We liked that we were at the quiet end of Akumal, but close enough to walk to the mini supers and the Buena Vida for drinks & light dinner. We had a great Xmas Eve dinner at the Tavern right near the arch in Akumal -- delicious Italian food and a very sweet staff.

Small complaints: We needed more kitchen & bathroom towels and the hot water was unpredictable.

Lovely condo in quiet, low key building

We really enjoyed our stay. The condo is decorated in nice, modern furniture. The beds were comfortable and bedrooms spacious. Kitchen was fully outfitted with all the equipment we needed. The property managers on site were very friendly and helpful. The property has a walled in area with sand atop a rocky beach, which made for a safe area for our 5-year-old to play and easy access to snorkeling in the bay. Rock shoes (which you can buy at the local grocery store) were very useful when paired with the snorkeling equipment from the condo (provided for free). We enjoyed walking to nearby restaurants and driving to Tulum and Coba for the day.

Fabulous place with great terrace, nice pool and easy ocean access

Our whole family loved this place, the town and Riviera Maya. The condo was spacious with ceiling fans in all rooms and a/c for the bedrooms. The king size bed was more than big enough for our two kids to sleep and play with their devices. We loved lunches on the outdoor patio, swimming in the pool and easy access to the ocean for snorkelling. There is actually a view of the ocean from one of the bedrooms (if you sit up and lean a little). The grounds were well kept and staff very friendly. Rhonda was very helpful and answered our questions regarding the condo and the area. We enjoyed walking to La Buena Vida for breakfast or evening margaritas and dining at La Lunita around the corner. Yal-ku was a 10 min walk away for some of the best snorkelling ever. We also loved the gardens and statues in surrounding Yal-ku. Akumal town was also fantastic for hitting the beach, having fresh fish at Cueva del Pescador or an ice cream at Lucy's. Turtle Bay Bakery was also great. It was very easy to get on the 307 to visit Tulum, Coba and other places. All in all, it was a fab holiday, great place and we hope to return!

I had the pleasure of spending 4 fantastic days in this condo. La Iguana is one of the nicest condos on Halfmoon bay. The only issue we had was there was no hot water, the condo manager attempted to change the hot water tank 2 times to no avail. This condo even without hot water was perfect. I cannot wait to come back again!! Thank you Rhonda for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.
