Great location, but needs an update/deep cleaning
I read the reviews regarding this property. There was a mixture, but I felt like more positive than negative reviews. Upon arrival, first impression was bad, the weeds have not been maintained in probably 2+ weeks. I understand that this property is older, but some switches either did not work or were wired to nothing. The ceiling fan lights were not all operational, maybe the bulb needs replacing, not sure. The TV was not wired to the correct devices for use and the remote was missing batteries. This is for the main living area TV and the front bedroom TV. We did not even attempt the back bedroom TV. The kitchen did not have any complimentary soap for washing dishes nor did the bathrooms have any hand soap. My family have owned multiple vacation rental properties in the past, and this was mandatory from our property management company. The beds were not comfortable at all. The pillows were stained and very well used. The back bedroom floors were uneven. The sink in the back bathroom is clogged; housekeeping should have informed the owner if they are cleaning properly. The ceiling fan in the back bathroom has dust hanging from it, again, I would assume this is something housekeeping would be responsible for. The deck is falling apart. Please be cautious when hanging out there. It appears one of the main poles is sitting on the concrete pad below, not sunk into the concrete pad, nor is it bolted to the floor, just sitting on top of the concrete pad. This property is ideally located, however, in my opinion, this property would benefit from a number of improvements.
Location is excellent and that's about it. Furniture is AWFUL. Will NEVER stay here again.
Check in time strictly enforced for cleaning? My wife cleaned when we arrived. We arrived to no air conditioning and it was never fixed as promised. Stayed in 84 degrees. Bought a window unit for $300 & wasn't allowed to return (lost receipt)Bought a mattress pad and pillows to make it bearable. Was told by owner I would be compensated for items and inconvenience and still haven't. Furniture was ripped & nasty. We left a day early because of being miserable inside this house!!
Unfortunately, you were there during the July 4th AC issues. We did our very best to get the AC repaired but you are correct, we didn't get it repaired due to parts being ordered. It was out of my control. HOWEVER, The AC has been replaced. I don't know anything about a window unit being bought. I also sent you and you have cashed a check over a week ago that I refunded to you for your inconveniences.

Minutes before arrival to the property, the owner contacted us letting us know that the a/c was not cooling and that she had already contacted a repair man. At that time she was asked if she had any other accomidations available and the answer was NO. So we agreed that we would deal with it for now and send repair man as soon as possible .Repair man showed up at 11:00pm the next night. Heat index of 104 that day and temps in the house over 85%. VERY UNCONFORTABLE. He tryied replacing the fan motor( no issue's with fan Motor, I have been in the indusrty for nearly 30 year's). The house is in desprate need of many/many repair's. The deck's are dangerious with nail's poking up everywhere, unstable hand rails and missing picket's. The bed's are unusually hard and many trip hazard's through out the house with unlevel floor's and unmarked step down's. We looked desperately for different accommodations with no result's with the holiday week end. Pictures are very deceiving. I don't feel like I recived what was paid for.
On July 3 when cleaning was there they advised that it was warm in the cottage. We called guest and they said they would check it out and see if it was cool. They responded with it is cool. I asked if they wanted me to get repairman out they said no. I told them to let me know and I would get someone out there if they felt it was not cooling. JULY 4th......they emailed me at 8:30 pm....I had someone out there at 10:30 pm.....JULY 4th! A new AC has been installed. I was never asked if I had other accommodations.......The deck is in need of some repair. Due to Hurricane Michael, repairman are not willing to do such a small job. Deck is still accessible.
A portion of the guests charges which we agreed upon was returned to guest.
We enjoyed our stay and absolutely loved the location, the view from the deck was an added bonus!

Expected a little better
The house could have been cleaner. Just seemed it needed some updates and a good deep cleaning. The location is great being right across the beach. The deck needs lots of work. We even left a day early because of the uncleanliness of the linens and pillows.
The property was exactly what we needed/wanted: we had plenty of room. Unfortunately, it stormed most of our trip, so we made the most of indoors. The decor is cute and and we really enjoyed our time there. Hopefully housekeeping approved, or we might be charged...I am not sure yet. We shall find out.
