Perfectly Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five stayed at Stanley Brook Cottage a few weeks ago. When we arrived we could hear nothing but the brook rushing beside the driveway. No traffic, no crowds! It was the most peaceful greeting! We have visited Acadia three times, and this was our favorite place we've stayed so far. We loved Seal Harbor and how close the house was to the Park Loop Road (our first evening there we walked to the PLR in about 10 minutes. By driving you can be at the Jordan Pond house in less than 5 minutes.). The house is very well maintained, extremely clean, and had everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped and we spent many meals around the kitchen table talking about our fun days in the park. Our children (9, 7 and 5) enjoyed playing in the studio room off of the back of the house - there was so much room to spread out. We slept well and felt right at home. Matt couldn't be any more kind or helpful. We were able to meet him when we arrived and felt like we could reach out if we had any issues (which we didn't). When we come back to Acadia, we'll definitely want to stay here again. Homes like this make it really easy to travel with young kids - it was so great to have this as our home base for all of our adventures. Thanks, Matt!

Charming Cottage in Good Location

  • 4 of 5

Stanley Cottage in little quiet village of Seal Harbor is very well maintained. Close to Jordan Pond and Carriage Roads, it is an great location for bikers. Access to Bar Harbor is easy and takes 15 min. ride with a car. We appreciated good quality sharp knives in the kitchen, however, few more teaspoons would have been handy. Appliances are vintage, but all in good working condition, and actually complement the decorative style of 60s and 70. (Don't worry, the fridge is newer, and TV set is new). Everything was very clean. We didn't have to buy laundry or dishwasher detergent. The kitchen is well equipped, however, if you need a garlic press to cook, bring your own. Beds were comfortable. There is also an extra room - study were you can insulate yourself from the other guests and relax. Mat is a great host, responding to all your needs. We had a very pleasant stay.

This is the third summer...

  • 5 of 5

in a row that we have spent our annual Mount Desert Island vacation at Stanley Brook Cottage. After many years of Acadia camping, we are thoroughly converted to having a roof, and Stanley Brook is ideal. Apart from its superior cleanliness and charm, location is its biggest advantage - a short bike or car ride to Jordan Pond House and access to all the carriage trails, not to mention backing up to the beautiful and bubbling Stanley Brook. This is the place to be if you like to bike the carriage trails as we do! The Seal Harbor beach is also a short walk down through the village. Thanks Matt, for another great Acadia vacation - we are looking forward to next summer!

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful few weeks at Stanley Brook Cottage. The cottage was spacious and immaculate. I enjoyed my morning coffee in the bright kitchen nook, with a pretty view just steps from the babbling Stanley Brook. The large kitchen island made cooking fun. Our bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Matt was a gracious and accomodating host. We loved being so close to Acadia National Park and took full advantage of its many scenic trails. We would recommend Stanley Brook Cottage to anyone.

...if you want easy access by foot or bicycle to the carriage roads, trails, and Jordan Pond house of Acadia National Park. This is our second year in a row, and we are very happy that we extended our stay from 2 weeks to 3 weeks this time! Stanley Brook Cottage is lovely, comfortable and well equipped, and Matt is the landlord from heaven. This is the ideal place for a Mt. Desert Island vacation. We will be back!

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a great week on the Island and at the Stanley Brook Cottage. Matt met us upon arrival and called us once during the week to see if we needed anything. The cottage was well equipped and away from the crowds in Bar Harbor. We were very busy the entire week and it was refreshing to come back to the cottage and relax at the end of the day. We walked from the cottage to the carriage trails and on our last night took a video of a white-tailed deer passing right past us. We would like to return to the Island again in the future.
