You can refresh your body and spirit in the open-air ocean front fitness center. It has a nautilus machine, treadmills, elliptical, recumbent bike, free weights, two tvs and more. Imagine working out and watching whales jump out of the water…just amazing!
The ocean club also has a happy hour and an incredible menu of local dishes and fresh fish. At times entertainment is provided. The bar has beer, wine, and spirits, and is situated to provide the most incredible view of the sunset each and every night!
People come from all over the world to whale watch. From October-April, relax on the lounge chairs at the ocean club, sit at the bar, or run on the treadmill, you can watch the mother whales and their babies swim and splash in the ocean around you.
After vacationing on the Big Island for so many years, we are delighted to be able to share our small slice of paradise with our special guests. Hali'i Kai is a very special resort which will leave you refreshed and rejuvenated.

After a day of playing golf, snorkelling, swimming or just simply unwinding, we love sitting on the lanai at 23H. The tranquil setting of Coconut Grove provides ultimate relaxation. You can read a good book whilst swaying in the hammocks, cook a lovely meal on the grills, and as the afternoon draws to a close go down to the Ocean club to experience the most magnificent sunsets you will ever see!
Enjoy cooking a delicious meal on the grills in Coconut Grove while staying in, or venture out to a variety of excellent restaurants and bars close by including the Ocean grill by the pool. We particularly enjoy Merrimans Café, Lava Lava and Roy's.
Waikoloa is a slice of heaven on the Big Island and close to everything you may like to explore. Play a game of tennis or golf, swim at beautiful beaches close by, or just relax and stroll down to the pool, sip a cocktail at the pool bar, and experience the beauty and serenity of the Kohala coastline. We have tried to anticipate some amenities to help make your vacation spectacular. We have found Hali'i Kai has the best of everything Hawaii can offer, and hope that everyone who visits 23H loves it as much as we do.
My family and I had a wonderful stay at this property. It is very roomy and laid out well for a large party -- it was able to fit five adults and a baby (and babies have lots of stuff) without feeling even a tad cramped. I always prefer to stay in a condo vs a hotel for the added comforts of home. This condo really delivered. It was fully furnished with everything we needed, including beach chairs, an umbrella, cooler and toys for the beach (and other misc items). The kitchen was nicely stalked and we were able to cook and prepare everything we needed. The BBQ areas on the outside were beautiful. The hammocks were super relaxing. And the private lanai right outside the unit was such a nice place for breakfast and dinner. The AC and the fans worked very well. But the very best part about this rental/ development was the resort-like pool/restaurant/ bar/ gym. Felt like we were staying at a hotel. So very nice to have that on the property! The sunsets from that area were spectacular, and we saw whales almost every night. It is a bit of a stroll from the unit, but made for a nice relaxing walk. (There are also parking spots by the pool if you prefer to drive). The only piece of warning is that parking is VERY tight in this complex. The rental has one assigned spot, so if you have one car, not a big deal. But, with our large party, we had two rental cars. The second guest spot was always a challenge. Although, on the very last day, we found out you can leave your car parked over night at the check-in lot. (Would have been great to know from the beginning). Oh, the condo also has lots of wonderful binders filled with island activities. We had a fantastic stay! Thank you to Neil for the beautiful stay and for being so timely with his responses and help! I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who likes the private home vacation feel but enjoys the hotel pool-bar scene.
Great location, wonderful pool with fantastic sunsets nightly. Friendly staff, great happy Hr. At pool. Condo was very clean & comfy, well maintained complex. Loved The LavaLava Beach Club near by. I would recommend it and would stay here again. The only thing I didn't like were the wind chimes on the lanai, we took them down for the 2 wks then put them back up.
Any little issues were addressed immediately. A+!!
The condo was immaculate. There was plenty of room for all of us and the amenities were perfect! The pool is about a 1/4-1/2 mile walk down the road, but it's absolutely worth the trek. When not touring the island we were poolside. We're already planning on staying here on our next visit to the island. We highly recommend it! The only thing we'd make sure people are aware of is that there isn't a private BBQ. They are communal. Which we loved as it gave us a chance to get to know the neighbours. Also, if you stay any where in Hali'i Kai, stay on the ground floor. We had family staying in the building next door on the second floor and it was very hard for them to access the shared greenery, bbq, and hammocks. They were jealous of our place. Happy travels!
We stayed in this condo for 2 weeks with our twins and grandparents. There was plenty of room for everyone. It is beautifully decorated in Hawaiian style and the ground floor with kids is a must. The home is fully equipped with anything you might need- even band aids and flashlights. The kitchen is well stocked but the knifes are dull. There are nice TVs in all bedrooms and family room. The office even has a printer and office supplies. The beach closet has 4 beach chairs, 2 boogie boards, beach toys, 2 snorkel sets, 2 large coolers, and beach bags. Air conditioning works well and is a must on this island. Out the back door 10 steps away is the BBQ grill and 2 awesome hammocks.
I would say that Waikoloa is the best place to stay near Kona. It is a bit of a drive to get to affordable groceries Costco and Target- 25 minutes ( the queens market has everything you need but expensive!). Hali Kai condo complex is VERY well maintained. This VRBO Condo is the 2nd from the front entrance and therefore it is a LONG walk with kids to the pool and we had to drive. No big deal, just know it is a big complex. The tennis courts are also well maintained and worth bringing your racket. Lots of run or walk trails nearby
This is a beautiful pool with direct views of the ocean and sunsets there are divine! The pool staff is nice. The bar and grill is really unique to have at a condo. The food was actually pretty good. Happy hour from 2-5pm with 5 dollar beers wasn't to bad either. My only complaint is that the staff was constantly on the kids about non-safety pool rules- can't play with a ball, can't have a pool floatie, ect. Pool design is pretty, but not an exercise pool. The gym overlooking ocean is fun, but open air makes the equipment rust.
The Hilton is a short walk from the pool area. They have a fun twilight mini golf for the kids on friday night at half price and glow in the dark golf balls. Other than that, do not expect to use their facilities unless you pay a day use pass for a family is $140.
Other accessible activities:
Nearby beach A bay ( 1 mile away) is beautiful and the Lava Lava club for dinner is a must at sunset, make a reservation.
We paid $99 for the family to have a day pass at the Marriott in front of A Bay and swam in the 3 pools and ordered pool service all day. That was fun.
We also recommend a car tour along the north kohala coast to Popolu look out and a beach day at Hapuna
This condo is magnificent. The bedrooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. The living area is large with a high end home theatre system and TV, and the kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need for a gourmet meal. The condo is very quiet and located in a tranquil and serene garden area called Coconut Grove. There are grills close by and the lanai is a fantastic place to be for that special meal. The grounds are immaculately kept and the pool is right on the ocean whales were frolicking in the ocean while we were there. The restaurant and bar by the pool served delicious food and the staff were very friendly. Close to the complex was the mall with supermarkets and other shops, the beach and several restaurants. I would highly recommend this wonderful condo.
We loved our stay at this beautiful condo and feel the most relaxed and refreshed we have ever felt after a vacation. We played tennis, watched whales splashing in the ocean at the ocean club and ate delicious meals on our lanai overlooking lush gardens and palm trees swaying in the breeze. The kitchen is fully equipped with every utensil you can wish for. The condo is spacious, beautifully decorated with gorgeous original art work hanging on the walls. It felt just like paradise every day and we can highly recommend it if you are searching for that special place to visit which you will never forget. Three bedrooms offer privacy for every guest and everything you need at the beach is provided. The golf club is a few minutes up the road and the Kings shops closeby. We are booking our next stay at this condo and can't wait to visit soon.
Just opened in Waikoloa Beach Resort, the oceanside open-air restaurant, 'Lava Lava Beach Club,' tropical drinks, island food, live music and watching sunsets. This is one of many fantastic restaurants locally, catering for all tastes.
Enjoy snorkeling or swimming on some of the best beaches in the country. Try Hapuna Beach, A Bay, or Beach 69 for starters.
Just a few hundred yards from 23H are two manicured golf courses - Waikoloa Beach Course and Waikoloa King's Course. Further afield there are other magnificent courses such as Mauna Kea and Mauna Lani. These courses can provide all equipment for you.
