We are a professional couple and long time residents of Santa Barbara since 1957! Our extended family resides here and we can be a great resource for you while exploring what Santa Barbara has to offer.
Marilynn Jorgensen purchased this apartment in 2006
Our home is located near the Santa Barbara Mission and the Rose Garden. Our home is a property built in 1922 and exemplifies the Spanish Revival architecture that is so prevalent in Santa Barbara. We purchased this home for it's location and ambiance and we are the honored 'stewards' of a piece of history!
The sound of the Mission bells, the smell of citrus blooming and doves visiting our fountains are a joy to our late afternoon times on the brick patio.
It was a delight staying in this apartment. Marilyn and Errol could not have been more welcoming. The location is idyllic and peaceful. The kitchen facilities might be a bit tight if you want to entertain regularly but they are perfect for a couple. Thoroughly recommended.
We stayed here for four months with our four and half year old son when both my husband and I were on sabbatical. We absolutely loved our time there! The owner couple stays in the same house but this guest house is completely separated from the main house. The apartment is on the second floor of the building seen on the right hand side of the photo (taken from the backyard of the property). We were in Santa Barbara for a few years before while being poor graduate students. So we were looking for a nice sabbatical home near downtown. This guesthouse in the beautiful spanish home was perfect for the three of us. It is one block from the Mission. The bus to the Botanic Garden stops right outside the property. The bus going to UCSB is two blocks away. We loved walking around the pretty neighborhood full of Spanish homes or walked down about 10 blocks to play in parks. There are several of them. But the best "park" is the spacious backyard of this very property! Our son sometimes played with the owner's dog while I cooked dinner. Sometimes we picked up fresh laid eggs in the afternoon. sometimes we picked chillies from the garden for dinner. The owners are a lovely and considerate couple. They are very helpful in answering all of our questions. The property is very well maintained. We will love to come back again in the near future.
The location is ideal. It is close to the mission and walking distance from the state st. shops and restaurants and the rest of downtown SB. The property is located in a lovely upscale neighborhood. The grounds are idyllic and well-maintained and the apartment is lovely. The owners are very hospitable. They are Santa Barbara natives who love their town and enjoy sharing it with others.
Perfect SB location. This historic property is in a quiet and well maintained neighborhood. The owners are perfect hosts. Cisco brought my NY Times to the apartment each morning. WIFI reaches the patio so I could work there as well as from the apartment. Walk to the Riveria - a classic movie theatre - or to The Daily Grind for coffee. SB Bowl is 15 minute walk - saw Bonnie Raitt & Taj Mahal there in 2011. Downtown restaurants and shopping are an easy walk too. Leave your car at home and take SB buses - two convenient stops nearby - or borrow owners' bikes. I cycled to Goleta Beach and USC SB. The city is very bike friendly.
This is a wonderful apartment with exceptional views of a lavish garden. The setting is historically significant. The owners are welcoming and informative and were very helpful regarding things to see and do. We would love to stay here again. It is just as lovely as the photos show. It is exceptionally well-maintained.
Enjoy the heart and soul of Santa Barbara by staying in the historic residential district of the 'Upper East'. A pleasant walk downtown to theaters, restaurants, museums and shopping while enjoying the Spanish architecture of our lovely town.
