Fantastic property with prime location
This property is better than the international bungalows. On the water with a white sandy beach and pontoon boats for your rental use just next door. The house is spacious and the kitchen and bathrooms newly remodeled. Great for families or couples.
The neighborhood is perfect with waking distance to stores and the Lucky House, a restaurant with a pool bar. Superb!!!!
This is a trip that can not be missed. More than that, a stay in this house makes the amazing island so much better. The only issue was no one was at the dock to pick us up but after having a local make a call all was better and we were on our way.
The house is everything that is advertised plus more. A Patio out back which leads you to a well manicured lawn that as you can see gives you the view of a lifetime. The walk in shower was great as well as the gas range. Stores are steps away as well as several restaurants all of which are great.
We took advantage of the beach as the snorkeling and scuba tour boats pulled right to the beach and away we went.
It was great being able to cook a few meals and just lounge with no set agenda and have plenty of room to do it. Many Many over water huts all look great but take my word for it this house offers so much room and comfort you just can not go wrong.
Thank you Donald, we apologize again for the pick up. We are working on getting proper service from providers. We are happy you had a great time at the house... hope to see you again soon...
Decent House -- suited our needs
We stayed a week.
A property representative meets you at the ferry dock area to guide you to the home (in their vehicle or you follow in yours.) Check-in was a bit confusing as the lady only spoke French, but I can't expect more. (Maybe the lady checking us in could have what she was saying transcribed in English so English-speakers could follow along. There is a book with house info on the counter, though, that didn't help in that moment.)
The house is next to IC Le Moana's boat dock. You can walk right over to the IC or walk down the road (.2 mile) to Lucky House to enjoy a meal. There is also a little market across the main street from Lucky House. Further down the road, easily walkable, are a few more restaurants.
There is noise from adjoining properties and the IC (from people and boats coming in and out,) but this didn't bother us. The boat traffic makes it a bit harder to snorkel or swim in front of the house. It's not impossible --you just have to be careful.
The kitchen and master bathroom have been remodeled recently. The master has ocean views with en suite. The other bedroom has no views (carport,) and a bathroom next door. Both have A/C that works well. The main house does not. There are overhead fans that aren't fast enough to feel like they're helping. There was one standing fan that didn't work. That main space desperately needs a few fans ppl can move around. It gets very hot inside, even with windows open, and that would make a huge difference for comfort.
Since you're on Matira point, you can view the sunrise from the property (view is decent - it's slightly obscured by all the boat docks,) or walk to the other side of the point (within minutes) to watch the sunsets. The public beach on the sunset side is expansive and beautiful. Bring water shoes for either beach -- there are urchins....
All in all, we enjoyed our stay. It's a nice location if you don't want to have a car. (We did, but some days we didn't use it.) Matira is the nicest beach on the island and we felt confident the house was a better choice, for us, than staying at a resort.
The bonus -- if you use LePlage for any boat tours, they leave from the IC dock steps away. Absolutely do a snorkel tour on your stay.... it was amazing.
Bora Bora Beach House
Great house in a great location, only problem is no hot water in the morning? Otherwise we love it!
Stayed February 3-10 2019. Excellent location, good food nearby, and love the beach front.
If you are looking to get away and experience the real Bora Bora without the resort feel this is your place. You are close walking distance to a great restaurant “Lucky House”. They have good small plates and an amazing steak for those with a bigger appetite. Grocery store is around the corner, my husband and I enjoyed cooking our own breakfast especially on days we went scuba diving. We used “Top Dive” who will come pick you up and have services on multiple islands. I also highly recommend going to Bloody Marys who will also pick you up. We rented a car from Avis for 1 day which is also around the corner from the house. I also recommend the 4x4 tour and ask for Jenga (it’s Vavau tours). Lots of culture to learn about and this will also give you scenic views, they too will pick you up. There is only AC in the bedrooms, the main living area can get a bit warm but there are windows on the entire front of the house which allows for a great breeze off the water. You also have a gated back yard to lounge in. Overall we had an amazing experience, it’s exactly as advertised.
Thank you from USA/Virginia
Thanks again April for the great review. Hope to see you back in Bora Bora soon!
With a location like this, this house could be much less comfortable and still get five stars!
If you like swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and beautiful views, you can stop reading now and rent this house. The location on Matira beach is a lagoon-lover's dream. Your slice of the beach is quite narrow, just that little piece shown in the picture, but it gives you access to a nice cooling swim only a couple dozen feet from your door and with the two kayaks (one double, one single) that come with the house, you can go anywhere in the lagoon, including the Aquarium snorkeling spot, just a fifteen minute paddle away. We were there in December so the house got pretty hot, but the water was there to cool us off in the daytime and the two air-conditioned bedrooms were as cold as you want for sleeping.
The living room is very comfortable. The kitchen is up-to-date and well equipped. It has everything you need, all in good condition when we were there. There’s no dish washer, but the three of us didn’t generate a lot of dirty dishes so that wasn’t really a problem for a short stay. There’s a good clothes washer and dryer in the carport.
Within a five minute walk you have a small general store that is very well stocked. You’ll probably find what you need there except for fresh fruits and vegetables. You’ll have to go to Vaitape for that. Even closer is our favorite restaurant, Lucky House. Frankie will make you feel very welcome there and the food is excellent. And if you like a hotel happy hour, the Intercontinental is so right next door that you can walk over on the beach in about one minute. Right across the road from that are beautiful sunsets on the west side of Matira point.
This house is a good value for Bora Bora. I would stay there again.
