We just returned from a wonderful month long stay at Casa Sugrue. The house is clean and well appointed, and the upstairs suite is especially nice. Raymond and his lovely parents went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
The location is convenient to all this incredibly beautiful region of Ireland has to offer. We particularly enjoyed our evening walks on nearby Reenroe beach, and met several friendly local residents.
We enjoyed our holiday so much that we plan to do our best to return again for another long stay.
Grande maison, récente, tout confort, super équipée, rie ne manque du lave vaisselle aux produits d'entretient, draps de lits, essuie,... tout y est.
Calme, au milieu de nulle part mais jamais loin de Waterville ou Ballinskelligs.
Nice house, nice place, nice owner, what else?
This is a lovely house. The owners are friendly and they offer a warm welcome which includes delicious buns! You look forward to returning to this house after the day's activities! It is suitable for all ages. Very comfortable and spacious. The area is peaceful yet everything is within easy reach.
Apologies for not writing this review earlier.
We stayed at this bungalow in August this year. Their were 4 of us, the bungalow lacks for nothing and the peace, quiet and surroundings are absolutely stunning.
Eileen welcomed us with baked cup cakes which were delicious. The bungalow is very homely with all mod cons (it lacks for nothing ) and is big enough for everyone to enjoy their own 'me time'.
Tommy called to say hello and gave us directions and also brought us an extra bike...nothing was too much trouble.
The beach is 5mins away (by car), 10mins by bike and a 15-20min walk away...we enjoyed walking on it every morning and evening and the locals were very friendly.
We had a car and travelled every day, the scenery in Kerry is absolutely stunning. I would recommend this cottage.
Eileen, Tim and Raymond are wonderful! Eileen even leaves you a wonderful basket of home baked muffins! the home is fine for 2 and will sleep many, many more. it is beautifully appointed. to the new upstairs room is really beautiful (this is my second time staying at the home). The location is beautiful. you have easy access to the ring of Kerry, Dingle, the Blasket Islands, the Skellig Islands, etc. Stay a week and really explore! The home has every thing you will need- there are even bikes in the garage. I highly recommend the house and the Sugre family are delightful!
We spent a fantastic week in Kerry and had the pleasure to be guests in the house of the incredibly kind and helpful Raymond and Eileen. The house is in a top shape and very clean and there is nothing one could possibly miss. All the kitchen and household accessories you want, bicycles, a grill, sun chairs...you name it. No matter what you want to do with your time in Kerry this house is the perfect place to start. The beautiful beach is only a 5 minute walk away. The next town is only (car )minutes away too and the Ring of Kerry too. Nevertheless you can enjoy the nature and beauty and quitness of Irland at its best. The week in Kerry was a great time and the house let it feel like a second home for us and we will return as soon as possible. Thank you Raymond and Eileen.
This house (Green Acres, built 2004) is located in the tranquil setting of Ballinskelligs, this lovely 5 bedroom 3 bathroom house contains a modern fully equipped kitchen and a stone open fireplace in the sitting room as well as Wi Fi for internet use. It is tastefully decorated and contains many objects collected locally over the years.
Rinn Roe beach is about a 20 minute walk away. This is a beautiful unbroken 1.3 mile of sandy beach which is a well known here in ireland for its Flat and Bass fishing. During the summer season a surf school is based here. On the far end of the beach lies the world famous Waterville Golf Links, which over the years has been frequented by notables such as Tiger Woods, Mark o Meara, Payne Stewert.
There is a second golf course on the opposite side of Waterville which opened for play in 2006 and is becoming quite popular with the tourist in the summer months.
The central location is also ideal for taking the opportunity to visit some of the various and diverse cultural, historical and scenic attractions such as the Ring of Kerry, The Skellig Rock, one of the republics 2 world heritage sites is a very inportant attraction to the area. Its owes its history to the monestry which was set up there in the 7th centuary. It is believed that the monks stayed on the rock until the late 1200s at which time they relocated to the Priory Abbey of Ballinskelligs (Arroasian Canons of the Order of St Augustine). Boats leave from Portmagee on a Daily Basis during the summer months to visit and land on the Great Skellig.
Another attraction to the area is the Pre Famine village of Cill Reilig which was restored in the 1990,s and now is home to an aetists retreat of whos work can be seen at the art and craft gallery located in the village of Dun Geagan.
There are two public houses in the locality with one serving bar food during the summer.
Walking and cycling are popular activities particurly with our European visitors. The most well known treck being the well established Kerry Way but there are shorter walks within the locality shuch as Bolus Head and Bray Head Valentia. A new loop walk has been established begning at Rinn Roe beach and across some farm land, bog/ heathland and back on to the country lanes.
Diving and watersports such as Kyacking are also organised locally.
The fishing village of Portmagee is only a 15 minute drive away and is a very popular tourist destination. it has one of the best restaurants in South Kerry specalising in locally caught sea foods. Valentia is just a hop over the bridge and is a little bit of Colonial Past in modern day Ireland. It was one of three sites in the ninenth centuary (the other two Ballinskelligs and Waterville), for the laying of submarine cables from Europe to North America. The island prospered being in the centre of global communications. Valentia is also well known for its Slate Products.
