About Carl Berghofer

I am one of the three Carl Berghofer's who live in the Rinconada Valley. My Grand Father has been taking care of this place for most of his life and still lives on the neighboring property. He is a retired Game and Fish Warden from the State, and has many insights into fishing and hunting in the region.

My father too lives on an adjacent property and has been part of the Dixon Fire Department since retiring from the State.

Because I spent every weekend from school helping my family grow orchard trees and preserving the beauty that is part of Rinconada I decided to buy this property next to my Grand Father from a Alamosa CO business man who recently turn 100 years old. The quiet NM living and green chili's are tribute to his age.

I am current a firefighter in Schertz TX (San Antonio) and my wife is a teacher. We have four kids and after they live to college we plan to retire in NM, because of its beauty and tranquility.

My late Aunt lived on this property for several years and now I want you to enjoy the tranquility of the Rinconada Valley.

A Complete Gem on the Rio Grande

This was such a sweet place to stay. Our kids and dog loved the rural setting in the apple orchard and the ability to walk to the river. The family is super nice. We couldn't have asked for a sweeter spot near Dixon and pretty close to Taos.

Really nice place, owners are awesome

  • 5 of 5

Located in a farm with the Rio Grande in the rear of the property, the scenery is beautiful. Home was well stocked with everything necessary for our stay; really as advertised.

Carl and wife were very kind with us by checking all the time on the status of our trip because the snow storm cached us on the road and Carl's dad was also very kind and helpful waiting for us on the road at front of the property at 11 PM, he was concerned for us to find and access the farm as soon as we arrive.

Definitively a place to come back and to enjoy the outdoors

Thank you for making our trip and stay that friendly.

This house is perfect for anyone looking for a place to stay while exploring the Rio Grande/Taos area. It has two bedrooms, one bath and great views of surrounding orchards and hills. The town is very quiet with friendly people and fantastic wineries, art galleries, and other fun excursions. I highly recommend this house!!!

I am considering renting this beautiful property for my sister's wedding. The owner, Carl and his family have gone above and beyond to help us in any way possible. They have done everything they can to help us achieve our dream wedding. I truly feel like I am a part of their family and that this land is our land. This is true New Mexico spirit.
