Not your Home away from Home feeling - very sterile
We own a VRBO rental and we rent VRBO often. What I like about VRBO rentals is the home away from home feeling. Hotels are great for that sterile feeling but at least they do have daily maid service and unlimited supply of towels and toiletries. This "facility" offered neither.
Expect to bring EVERYTHING you might need. The closest Store is 40 minutes RT!
The Lodge is bare and sterile. Yes, plastic wrapped mattresses so I guess you don't soil them. NO backup supply of towels or sheets and they give you a small count of detergent to use. No skirt hangers or no hangers even in some rooms. Downstairs family room doesn't have pictures, no table arrangement, no warmth anywhere and the DirectTV didn't work. On TVs that do work, you are restricted to local channels and are blocked from purchasing movies. There are no games, novels, or anything to occupy your time in the house.
Bring supplies for cooking, no salt and pepper (empty shakers) or assorted cooking supplies they only have the appliances, glasses, plates, etc. The drawers and cabinets are totally bare. I don't expect the house to provide everything but would have thought it would have the warm feeling of a lodge. It wouldn't take much to make this a super VRBO rental if the owner would spend $100 to stock some things from the grocery store and from Goodwill. After all, they charge a high enough amount!
I guess our welcome "gift" was the 6 bottles of water for the 10 of us. Not that I expect a gift after spending what I did on this rental, but more water would have been a nice start...the store is 40 minutes RT away!
What would make the Lodge a Great VRBO? Think of it as your home......
Here is my supply list for the owners (people typically add and leave things):
Skirt/Hangers, umbrellas, flash lights, cooler, bags, foil, plastic, cooking oils, popcorn, Pod Coffee maker, closet full of towels, sheets, pool toys (or is that not allowed?), sunscreen, bug spray, fishing equipment for kids, Bottles (not sample) of shampoo and conditioner, assorted games, books, balls, magazines, clothes basket, kitchen towels, place mats, paper and pencils, crayons, printer or even a computer station equipped. In other words, home stuff to make it less sterile and interesting to explore.
Otherwise I recommend the lodge offer daily maid service, room service and business center like a hotel. If the owner prefers to use the lodge for catered events like Bridal Showers and Parties, then let us know its bare
We are disappointed to hear we did not meet expectations for this stay. We pride ourselves on customer service and making sure the guest has a first class experience. We allowed this group to check in early because the house was available and let the guest know that we were replacing one of the Directv receivers and it would be ready by regular check in time and it was ready and all 5 TVs were up and running for their stay (we do not allow additional programing charges for obvious reasons). We have several VRBO rentals all over the country and this is the first time we have received a negative review for not having food supplies, spices, full size shampoo and books in the home. We stock each bathroom with shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toiletries and extra towels under the sink and also have all the appliances, pots/pans, flatware and utensils to cook for the whole group. There is also a restaurant on property for those groups that do not want to cook on vacation. Please look at the pictures to see the decor and furniture in the lodge that we use to keep the rustic elegance feel of the Resort. This lodge was designed and decorated by Room and Board as part of Atlanta Homes and Lifestyle Magazine's 2011 show home of the year. The Resort has staff on hand that is just a call away to help with anything else you might need with numbers in the guest information packet. There is a dollar general 5 minutes away for essentials and 2 Publix grocery stores within 15 minutes. Being part of the Resort all of our guest have access to the Foxhall Outfitter which provide access to fishing, kayak/canoeing, tennis, fire pits, croquet, bocce, horse shoes and many more activities at no additional charge. There are also several additional activities like clay shooting, ATV rides, hunting, guided fishing trips that are available for an additional cost. We are very disappointed to receive a 1 star review and will do everything we can to make sure we deliver 5 star service to future guests.
We had an enjoyable stay in Oriole Lodge that mostly gave us what we expected
Lots to enjoy in Oriole Lodge in Foxhall. We used it for a family gathering at a fiftieth birthday party. Took walks in the wintery park and along the river. Talked by the fire that worked well. Ate at The Farmhouse -- excellent.
A few minor complaints -- nothing to stop you going there with confidence.
Foxhall is 25 minutes from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International airport-the world’s busiest- making us quickly accessible from just about anywhere.
