Newly renovated chalet (1852) nestling in a beautiful mountainous region.
The chalet lies in the heart of the skiing area - 17 minutes by car to Veysonnaz - Les 4 Vallées (bus stop just across the road), 30 minutes by car to Montana Crans, 1h30 to Zermatt. Sion train station is 5 minutes by car and 10 minutes to the local airport.
Summer walks and mountain biking are spectacular. Golf, tennis and thermal baths are close by.
Includes: private parking, WiFi, large TV (satellite 150 channels).
Max 4 occupants. No smoking/no pets.
The chalet is beautiful and exceeded expectations, it had a real homely feel. Each room was immaculate and tastefully decorated a lovely mix of traditional meets modern.
The owner Carolyn was also the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble, she went out of her way on a number of occasions to ensure we enjoyed our short stay in Sion.
The views over Sion with the mountains in the background are breathtaking.
We chose this beautiful chalet, because we like our holidays to be a combination of relaxing and activities.
The house is fully equipped (e.g. DVD player, Wifi, kitchen supplies) and has a great garden with large dining table, barbecue and fantastic lounge set.
It’s in a green and quit area, but still only minutes from Sion which is the oldest town of Switzerland with all facilities, great restaurants, Friday market and a very beautiful ! old centre.
Sion can also be reached on foot in 30 minutes through a nice walking trail or by bus in 5 minutes; there is a bus stop 1 minute away in front of the (good) restaurant in Salins itself.
Because it’s so close to Sion (rail and bus station) and the motorway, nearby places are easy to reach, like Lake Geneva/Montreux, Martigny, Sierre (funiculaire to Crans Montana) and of course all the mountains in the area for hiking or mountain biking. The easy access to public transport also makes it possible to hike or bike from one place to another, leaving your car in Sion or not use it at all.
If you like comfort, but also want to do things during your stay this is the perfect place to be.
And again the garden is really great and Carolyn and family are very friendly and at your disposal if it needs to be.
We had a fantastic holiday and really like to go here again.
Carolyn’s Chalet was a godsend. Our daughter suffered a traumatic accident and we were in need of a home away from home for and extended stay. This was perfect. It was so convenient to the hospital and Sion City Center. The chalet was immaculate and impeccably maintained. It is so quaint and well equipped with everything we could possibly need. The kitchen was very well stocked so we were able to prepare a nice USA Thanksgiving meal. Carolyn and her family were so friendly and helpful. When we first arrived she picked us up at the hospital to show us the property and made sure we could find our way. Every day she would inquire about our daughter with genuine concern. She made a very difficult time bearable for us. We look forward to returning someday. The property is surrounded by the beautiful Alps and would be a great base location for skiing or hiking and taking in all the wonderful things the area has to offer. Thanks Carolyn for providing a home for us. This is more than a vacation rental it is a home away. I would highly recommend everyone.
This is a delightful chalet - it retains it's old character on the outside, but is fully modernised inside, with everything you need for a self-catering holiday. Located in a quiet road in a village on the hillside above Sion, there are wonderful views over the town and valley from the windows and from the terrace. In fact, there are two seating areas, one just outside the kitchen with a table and chairs - ideal for eating dinner, as it catches the evening sun - and another more relaxing area which also has the afternoon and evening sun. The chalet is very well equipped and very comfortable. The property is clearly well cared for and maintained in top condition. Everywhere was sparkling clean and the basics were all provided, including hand soaps and tissues. The chalet is just a few minutes from Sion where there is a good supermarket, plenty of other shops and lots of restaurants. The town is a friendly sort of place, as are the local people - polite and courteous without fail. The owner is on hand to offer advice and she could not have been more friendly or helpful, and she made our stay special. And it wasn't just the homemade apricot jam!
La Valais is full of lovely places to explore, specially on foot, and this is as good a base as you will find. Would we recommend it? Yes, without a doubt.
