Frances moved to this beautiful groundfloor apartment, 17th century monument, in 2010. The location of the house is truly superb..! walking distance to shops, cinemas, museums.
Your landlady speaks english, french, german and dutch of course, is most willing make your stay as memorable as possible!
Around the house a lot of places for having breakfast, lunch and diner.
frances van t oever purchased this apartment in 2010
The Jordaan is the most picturesque 17th century part of Amsterdam. Public transportation is around the corner, but of course 2 bikes available for your personal sightseeing.
Guests who stayed at Frances' place just loved it!
We stayed here for a week in January and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Frances was lovely, very generous with recommendations. The room was very comfortable and was a very welcome sight after lots of walking. It was warm, clean and very comfortable.
The location was excellent. It is in a quiet area, but has plenty of amenities close by. You must try Piqniq for breakfast and Vlaming has excellent food at a good price. There are a couple of supermarkets around the corner and you are within walking distance of Amsterdam centre, we didn't set foot on public transport at all in the week of our stay.
We would recommend this place for its situation and for the wonderful welcome we had, also free wifi which was great. We will certainly come back and stay again. Thank you so much Frances for a great stay.
We stayed in the apartment for 3 nights. Everything was perfect ! Everything was super clean, it has wifi, the location is fantastic, in 10 minutes walking you are in Dam square and near the house (for whoever is interested) there are a few really good coffeshops such as Bulldog and Barney's. Frances and his son in law were available for any type of information and gave us the bike keys too!
The apartment isn't huge but believe me, there's everything you need: bathroom, bathtub, a super confortable bed and a huge window.
There are good places to eat near the apt too.
I really recommend this beautiful place and we promise we will be back as soon as possible!!!!
Thank you Miss Frances for making our travel perfect !!!
The best part of our stay in Amsterdam was getting to meet Frances. She was very helpful and made us feel right at home. The price for the room, WEE-FEE, television, comfortable bed and wonderful soak-tub make Bed and Bikes a great value. The location was perfect for exploring and had a grocery close by as well as many places to eat. I would definitely book with Bed and Bikes again and wish Frances and her family well.
The wonderful location and sweet hospitality from the owner made for a lovely stay. It is indeed small, but all you need to explore the area and you can't beat the price!! Thank you again Frances!!
Small but clean accommodations in the lovely Jordan area. We walked from the train station with luggage about 20 minutes. ProbAbly could have gotten closer if we were familiar with the buses. Large tub for soaking after a long day of touring. On the ground floor so that's nice. Smell of smoke in the entry hallway but it doesn't affect the room. Frances was helpful in recommending places to eat and providing directions to the bus and museums. Enjoyed our four nights here.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with France's, from Bed & Bikes. If you want to experience the real Amsterdam, are budget minded and don't mind living out of a suitcase, then this is the place for you. It is just big enough for two people and has a good sized bathroom, fitted wit a nice bath tub and shower. As with most Dutch homes, the toilet is outside the bathroom and is shared with France's. No problem with that. It was cleaned every day. The place is about 20 minutes walking from the station, or about 10 minutes from the #21 bus. We enjoyed both walks, but getting back to central with luggage was easier on bus #21
The room has a "king" (comprised of 2 singles) bed, a bar fridge, coffee maker and basic dishes & utensils. There is a local Jumbo store just around the corner, a laundrette, and many little eateries. Every Saturday a big market, as well as a smaller, but still big, market about 2 minutes away. It is very close, by tram, to all Amsterdam attractions.
France's provided good bikes, but, unless you are more adventurous than a retired couple that has never ridden bikes in Amsterdam,I would suggest doing the walking......besides, walking helps to burn off those calories. Not that the nerve wracking experience of trying to navigate bikes through Amsterdam would probably take off triple the calories.
We enjoyed staying with France's for a few days, and would not hesitate to stay there again should the opportunity arise.
The best bars en restaurants around the corner! Besides this, please don't forget to visit our beautiful museums like Van Gogh, Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum, etc, all not far off. :)
For Amsterdam quite rare: groundfloor apartment, no stairs!
