About Rokhaya Waring
I am a working artist and member of the Rocky Neck Art Colony. My studio is situated between our house and Willow House. You are welcome to visit my studio during your stay. To see my artwork and for more info please visit my website. NOTE: We have 2 Whippet pups and they are occasionally leashed in the garden, but never loose.
Why Rokhaya Waring chose Gloucester
We are in a quiet garden setting, but close to a bustling small city, rich with history, places to visit, eat, shop and experience. We have beaches, wildlife, and sunsets over the ocean, concerts, plays, exhibits, and festivals- all within an incredibly friendly community. This area of Gloucester feels like a village, with everything one needs close by, and we often feel that we are on vacation right here at home!
What makes this Apartment unique
My husband and I love living in this area of Gloucester that has inspired so many artists: Fitz Henry Lane, Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, John Sloan- to name just a few. We love being able to cross the street for a freshly baked muffin and paper at The Last Stop; take in a show at Gloucester Stage; walk to Rocky Neck for breakfast at Sailor Stan's; have drinks or dinner on the water at The Rudder. We can stroll to the end of the Neck to see the old Copper Paint Factory (now the headquarters for Ocean Alliance), with the best views across the harbor; through America's oldest shipyard (Gloucester Marine Railways) to see the boats being worked on; take the water shuttle across the harbor to Main Street, Gloucester to shop or dine, and then back.

20 Years Celebration
We had the most relaxing time at The Willow House to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Everything was perfect and as described. Our hostess was most gracious. We couldn't have dreamed of a better experience in Gloucester and the area.
Again and Again
I have been returning to Willow House over the last five years, only missing out one year when I wasn’t quick enough to book on time. The property is as it appears in the pictures, beautifully decorated, clean and thoughtfully laid out. The owners are very welcoming and ensure that you are well looked after during your stay.
September Bliss in Gloucester
Informal but low-key elegant apartment, completely equipped for anything you'd like to do, including a big hammock in a beautiful back garden. Ideal for us: we relaxed, visited great restaurants in the area, took the T commuter train twice to Boston (easy, no driving/parking hassles). One end of the deck has view of Gloucester harbor, as does the living area. The neighborhood is quiet at night, you can sit in the garden and enjoy the cicadas at this time of year before dinner. Hosts are super friendly but you won't see them unless you want to. Quick responses from them to any question via text or the VRBO form. Great place!
Willow House was everything we expected and more! The location, the details, the gorgeous grounds-it was all perfect and comfortable. Thank you for making my birthday memorable. Would not hesitate to stay again.
Understated Elegance and Modern Comfort
My husband and I love this place. It could not have been more perfect. The owners were available if needed but not in any way intrusive. Everything you could possibly want was there. The design of the space, the attention to detail, and beauty of the overall environment created a perfect setting for a relaxing and aesthetically pleasing experience. The garden is spectacular! And the convenience of nearby restaurants and beaches made for a great vacation. We hope to return sometime.
A Beautiful Surprise
This is an excellent apartment! Private, quiet, artistically decorated, and well stocked! Very kind and helpful owners, and they do not intrude. The location allowed us to explore the numerous coves of Gloucester Harbor. Good Harbor Beach is one of the prettiest ocean side beaches we had ever seen. We were able to cook many meals in the gorgeous kitchen, but we enjoyed eating out at these places: Passports, Cape Ann Brewing, Woodsman’s of Essex, and the Seaport Grille. This place exceeded our expectations!
