About Rex Cook
We currently live in California, and always look forward to spending time here in Oro Valley. We enjoy being active in such a beautiful environment; can't get enough of the warm evenings, monsoon lightning, birds, lizards, and quiet! We have loved Arizona since we met here 30 years ago (one Californian and one Missourian). Now, with family in Tucson, this is our home away from home.
Rex Cook purchased this House in 2013
Why Rex Cook chose Rancho Vistoso
We love the location here close to our family, close to the Catalinas (for her) and to golf (for him). Our neighbors here are so friendly!
What makes this House unique
The view from the back yard and the open space behind the house are what we love about it.

Sun City Rancho Vistoso
Had a fantastic stay. Loved Sun City. Rex and Niki were great host.
All appliances worked, the bed was comfortable, the owner responded to broken latches, but the house is badly in need of updating. The furniture in the living room was uncomfortable, the lights had a tendency to flicker on and off at times, there was only one reading light in the living room, dishes were chipped, therefore I cannot rate it at more than a 3.
A comfortable home to stay in.
We had a pleasant stay. The facilities at the Dell Webb that were included for a small fee were a nice surprise. We especially enjoyed having the pool for the month of September is still very warm in Tucson. We also liked the back yard bordering on an open space which makes it very private.
My husband and I stayed here in July, 2018, and loved everything about our stay. Great directions, easy access, comfortable surroundings and wonderful view! Rex was easy to contact and always responsive to any of our questions. We will be back.
Impressive home with pride of ownership!
Sensibly and tastefully appointed in ways that surprised us! The home was so much like our own home - down to the 1970's globe bar. Our first vacation rental experience was easy here - from initial interest in February to cleaning deposit refund in July. Reliable owners take pride in their home, and we can see why!
We knew the home was cleaned beforehand; there were actually linens in the dryer and cleaning supplies in the master tub when we arrived. The home's location made settling in easy with familiar shopping nearby (Target, Big Lots, Walmart, Kohls, Vons/Safeway, Whole Foods, etc.) Getting to Tucson for a day trip didn't require freeway travel; indeed, the empty roads and parking lots were so good for the soul. We didn't need any community amenities with the backyard pool available during the day; and at night, we had the benefits of stargazing with our own telescope as well as theirs (though we mostly used ours). One very minor glitch was the DVD player - it wouldn't play any of the DVD's in the house or brand new ones we brought with us to teach us about stargazing. Otherwise, all the appliances were easy to operate: the A/C hummed steadily and quietly to comfort us from the summer heat (didn't touch the settings at all); the washer and dryer were convenient; and even the CD player offered a musical CD of black tenors that inspired us. Also, the bed sheets were smooth and soft, and the master bed mattress wasn't too soft or too firm. Appreciated the landscaping around the house which helped with privacy (since no other neighbors actually had fences), and especially the lovely desert florals just outside the master window frames the garden/ pool view.
A range of critters visited the home every day to remind us of the wild beauty around us - a mouse in the pool (it didn't mean to be in there though), grazing rabbits, quail along the fence line, a hawk above, chipmunks scurrying below, lizards rustling... and even a king snake went for a swim one morning and TWO baby mountain lion cubs played in the grass AND climbed the palm tree one evening. Breathtaking. (Needless to say, the rabbits didn't show up the next morning.) We kept a respectful distance and enjoyed the resource books and binoculars provided so that we could identify them. We saw ourselves as guests to their home as well!
If we find ourselves needing to be in the area again, we know now where to stay. Thank you for a restful getaway from Southern California.
Iris & Monty’s happy place!
My husband and I spent a lovely three weeks staying at this great location! This is the 5th year we have stayed here and we refer to it as our happy place. Love the back yard with the mountain view and pool where we spend much time just relaxing. The house is comfortable and homey with everything you may need for your stay. Thank you again Rex and Nikki for sharing your vacation home with us!! Looking forward to next year.
