even better than before!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third year at Leilani's wonderful cottage and we'll be returning next year - we really feel at home there. Everything the other reviews say is absolutely true, except a for a few improvements...the armoire and bedside 'tables' are gone and have been replaced with 2 chests with drawers that fit perfectly with the decor and provide tons of storage space and open up the room a bit. I miss the great children's bedtime books, but I have a hunch they will be back again :). There is not one inch of wasted space and the garden has become even more inviting as the plants have matured. Even after 3 years, the cottage is pristine and shows no signs of wear or abuse - the pictures still don't do it justice. Every interaction I've had with the owner has been positive and upbeat. We've stayed at many places up north (including a mushroom house in Charlevoix) and have finally settled here thanks to this home away from home!

Perfect Little Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and i just returned from a 3 night stay in this rental. It was absolutely perfect! The owner was very responsive and genuinely concerned that her guests enjoy their stay. She made several recommendations for dining and activities and our time away was lovely. We had contemplated staying in a hotel but the little cottage was so much better! The cottage was darling and had everything that we needed! It was well stocked, perfectly clean and very comfortable. My husband and I are already talking about a return trip. I would highly recommend this little gem for a couples getaway. Northern Michigan has so much to offer. The cottage is within walking distance to downtown and for those who like to ride bikes, it was a short ride to the bike path which spans from Charlevoix to Harbor Springs. Excellent trip and was sad to see it end!

Perfectly lovely!

  • 5 of 5

After a conference in Detroit husband and I were seeking to relax and explore more of MI and 'Up North' in particular. Owner was gracious and helpful even as we made last minute arrangements. Perfect location for parking car and exploring Charlevoix by bike or foot. Cottage was very well appointed with fully equipped kitchen, laundry, outdoor grill and patio and interesting art as well. Cross breeze in the evenings were just right on all but the hotest days. Agree w other reviewer, pictures do not do it justice.

HIDDEN GEM!

  • 5 of 5

This place is absolutely perfect! I tried to find a flaw, but that didn't happen.

Once we arrived, we were greeted with Dorthy Red Shoes growing succulents sitting upon a rock. Above that, was a beautiful red chandelier hanging from the tree. As we continued toward the home, we got to the fenced area gate. Once inside the fenced area, we were surrounded by the beautiful secret garden. I just wanted to sit down and leave our belongings in the car. I was so excited to open the french entry doors with a wonderful locking system. I opened the doors, I was so pleasantly surprised and happy that this was going to be our home away from home for 6 whole days. This charming Gem of a find was so well thought out, that it blew me away. The owner did not miss a beat. The decor was very warm, inviting and creative. I loved the layout of the kitchen, the closet in the kitchen had beach towels, beach mats, a cooler, broom, & vaccum. Everything you can think of was in this kitchen. I loved the paper towel holder with the water spiket on top. I could find nothing missing and knew we brought way too much stuff with us as this owner provided all. So when the owner says all that is missing is YOU, they are right!

The livingroom is delightful with a huge binder filled with all kinds of recreational activities. I loved the desk in the livingroom. The pictures throughout the home are priceless pieces of Charlevoix. Sofa is extremely comfortable. The bedroom is a sanctuary with one outstanding bed and linens. Loved the Armoire, the opened desk filled with wonderful books and especially loved the framed Quote about being yourself.....amazing!

Next, the gorgeous well laid out bathroom with stacked washer and dryer. Towels, soap, even laundry soap. All I can say, is I feel blessed that I had the opportunity to stay at such a wonderful bungalow. Great, QUIET area close to downtown and Hwy 31 going to Petoskey.

Thank you for keeping your home such a wonderful, clean, unique place to call home!

I wanted to wrap it up and take it home with me!

  • 5 of 5

We were long overdue for a few days of doing nothing but relaxing and enjoying the beauty of northern Michigan. I wanted something small and private (for just the two of us), and close to the water. This cottage far exceeded anything I could have hoped for. It is small, but more than spacious enough for two, and decorated with an abundance of charm; the pictures do not do it justice. I loved the furnishings, the patio, the well-stocked kitchen, and the little personal touches that you don't see from the pictures, such as the books and soaps. The neighborhood is very quiet and a short walk to town. We enjoyed many walks and some fabulous sunsets. I fell in love with Charlevoix and this cottage and we are already talking about when we are going back. Leilani told us to consider this our "home away from home," and we will - definitely!

our new favorite place

  • 5 of 5

This review is long overdue...we were there for a week in July 2014. Previously, we'd rented an Earl Young house that was right across from the beach, however it was a bit old and musty, although beautiful. We wanted something a bit fresher with an outdoor area we could enjoy and this was exactly what we wanted. The description says it all - it's adorable, in a great neighborhood, an easy walk to town. What you can't see are all the thoughtful touches the owner provided....from the bathtub pillow, to the collection of books at the nightstand, the fancy soaps, to the lovely and private garden....everything was perfect for us. Although the place is small and looks like it may have been converted from a garage, the design is efficient - there's not an inch of wasted space. It's cozy an warm, with great cross breezes and the cool nights with the gas fireplace were heavenly.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your thoughtful review. This renter has already booked again for a week in summer 2015. In fact most of our 2015 bookings so far are from repeat guests.
