Our family has spent summers at Lily Lake since the mid-1950s. Each generation has used it in its own way, but the place's natural beauty, fun, and relaxation have remained mostly unchanged through the years. For the last decade, we've decided to make it our full-time home and now would like others to have the opportunity to enjoy a little bit of what we've built our lives around.
Sal Deluca purchased this cottage in 1987
The Lily Lake Guest House is on a parcel adjacent to our primary residence. As our family has grown, we use for get-togethers and holidays. It's far enough to offer our family and family a bit of seclusion, but close enough that we can easily spend time together.
We've tried to create a place with many modern conveniences yet one that maintains the popular rustic cottage style of the 1920s. Guests can enjoy heated bathroom floors and Internet access but also bear witness to the passage of time with the simple stone-and-mortar foundation created of rock found on the property, the original yellow pine clapboard siding and Douglas Fir flooring, the open-air patio and screened porch, and the structure's simple yet functional layout.
We spent a wonderful week at this cottage. The beauty is you can do as much or as little as you want. The patio, lakeside fire pit and deck were great places to be outdoors and read, enjoy a beverage and relax. The place is well equipped and thoroughly comfortable. We were fortunate to meet Sal and the owners who were so accommodating. Bob alerted us to be on the lookout for a bald eagle...we were blessed to see 3 that enjoyed an aerie just across the lake from us. Fishing was great....catching not so much but the serenity and exercise were great. Our son and grandson joined us for the last 2 days and thoroughly enjoyed the paddleboard and kayak. We couldn't have had a more restful and yet busy experience.
My spouse and I had the most wonderful time in this private lakefront cottage in PA. The cottage, the lake, and the surrounding wilderness are more beautiful than the pictures - we were absolutely impressed in every respect. The cottage is very clean and well decorated - as immaculate as a sophisticated 5 star hotel. We used the private chef option for 3 nights and the food and service were superb - we loved every course and couldn't believe how fantastic the quality was. We recommend this vacation spot to anyone hoping to spend time away in a romantic, beautiful setting in Pennsylvania. There was even a perfect, private fire pit with chairs and chopped wood for us to use every night, and access to a rowboat, boogie boards, kayak, and paddle boat. There is also a really cool loft area with 2 beds that would be a dream room for kids to share as well. We had so much fun in this vacation that we will hope to make this our home away from home!
A very special thanks go to Sal, Elaine and Bob for the most wonderful 3 days at their truly exquisite cottage. Everything about the cottage is perfect. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, has a view to die for and the beds and linen are so comfortable you may never want to leave!! My children had the best time on the paddle boat and the row boat. My youngest son loved fishing, although all he caught was a salamander and a crawfish! We hiked, our dog swam, we barbecued every night and we made s'mores around the firepit. We played board games at night and slept like logs!
I can't recommend Lily Lake Guest House highly enough, it really is a little piece of heaven on earth! Thank you Sal, Bob and Elaine for your incredible hospitality! We will see you again soon this summer!!
My wife and I stayed at this cottage over Thanksgiving in order to be close, but not too close, to both of our families. We had a very pleasant stay. The cottage is tastefully decorated, fully equipped, and meticulously maintained. The views of Lilly Lake from the living room area are spectacular!
We brought our 7 year old boxer with us, and he enjoyed walking down by the lake and in the surrounding woods. During our stay, there were few visitors to the lake; therefore, we had complete privacy while outdoors. Although we didn't venture too far into the woods, it appears as though there is a rather extensive network of trails nearby, which is great if you enjoy hiking.
To top it all off, the owners have a fine sense of taste when it comes to magazines. I spent both my mornings checking out up-to-date issues of the New Yorker, Architectural Digest, and Conde Nast Traveler.
My wife made most of the travel arrangements through Sal. My understanding is that he was courteous, prompt, and very professional.
Can't wait to visit again ... in 3 weeks!
We loved this place from the moment we pulled in the driveway. The grounds were beautifully landscaped and maintained, the house was just as described, with every amenity we could have wanted. We had a wonderful time enjoying the lake.
We took advantage of the private chef offer and had a five-course dinner for four Wednesday night. After answering some questions for the chef earlier in the week, we were expertly presented with a gorgeous and delicious meal. Every course seemed better than the one preceding. I have to strongly recommend this offer for fellow renters, it was worth every penny.
Between the meal and the gorgeous cottage, we were loath to leave and are already planning our next trip to Lily Lake! Have to thank Sal for meeting our every need and helping out with the magnificent dinner. Hope to see you again next year!
What a beautiful place. Great time!!!
I heavily recommend it! Place was spotless. If you want to go camping in style this is definitely the way to go. Sal was an absolute pleasure to work with. Don't think twice. Book the trip.
