Casa kuxtal (in mayan 'The house of life'), is a gorgeous 200 years old, recently renovated colonial house.
The house was fully furnished with exquisite taste with antiques of the region. It is situated in an unbeatable location; right in the most beautiful park of Merida in the famous calle 60: Santa Ana square. Casa Kuxtal is only two blocks from Paseo Montejo and walking distance to shops, restaurants, coffee shops, theatres and museums. Buy fresh groceries in the local market, have an ice cream in the square or have a stroll in front of historical mansions, right in front of your door!
Casa Kuxtal has all the amenities you need to make your stay in Merida unforgettable: colonial high-beamed ceilings -typical of old colonial houses-, a refreshing pool, a beautiful garden, an outdoor shower and a roof garden with a great view. Everything in Casa Kuxtal is environmentally friendly, we have a solar heater, energy saving appliances (induction stove), LED lights, solar lamps, and a green roof. To make your stay more comfortable, the house includes ceiling fans, AC in both rooms, cable TV, wireless internet, phone line and a cell phone for your use during your stay. The house also includes a BBQ, board games, books and a hammock to lay down and relax!
We are a young couple living part time in Australia and part time in Merida. We are passionate about sharing Mexico's beautiful heritage by providing a comfortable, affordable and authentic holiday experience
Fernanda Adame purchased this house in 2011
This property is located in Merida's best neighbourhood and has the best of both worlds!
Best location, original colonial house with modern touches.
This is perfect for a familiy wanting their privacy and comfort! However It will suit all of those seeking a nice vacation: from adventure seekers to romantic getaway! The backyard and the swimming pool make perfect sense when you come back from the daily exploration of Merida the surrounding region in the warm Yucatan wheather. The house is very well located just foot steps from the historical centre of Merida. It is just about an hour drive to the Mayan ruins of Chichen-Itza and Uxmal. It is also from just about an hour driving to the towns of Valladolid and the Celestun reserve!
My wife an I had a really nice stay.
Thanks friendly Esteban and Fernanda!
Casa Kuxtal was the best option for me and my parents for our trip to Merida. We loved to stay at Kuxtal House, the beautiful architecture, the comfort, were just perfect for us. Location is super central but still quit and private. The renovated colonial house is beautiful and it had everything we needed. Communication worked great. I would love next time, to stay again in this beautiful place. Thank you Steban.
Casa Kuxtal is close to markets, grocery stores, parks and is within walking distance of the central plaza. The house is nicely decorated and the King bed in the master bedroom is very comfy. We loved our stay in the house, which offered lots of privacy. Toma and Helene were friendly and helpful and were a delight to deal with. We had a wonderful time!
My husband and I have visited Merida many times. This was our first time staying at a house.
We found this home and fell in love. It was central to everything we wanted to do, and at the same time we had our very own little paradise to come back to every night. We had everything we could possibly need. I can't wait to do this again next year! A great escape from the North East cold! Thank you for providing such a beautiful and comfortable home for us.
My husband and I just returned from a wonderful week in this lovely home. The size and layout were perfect, the kitchen complete, and the pool SO refreshing. Everything was spotless. The neighborhood was quiet with a cute little grocery store a couple of blocks away where we got all we needed. Restaurants Chaya Maya was great. Highly recommend, would stay here again in a heartbeat.
My daughter and I spent 8 relaxing days at Casa Kuxtal. The house is lovely, casual and comfortable. The pictures are accurate. We did not need the a/c, the ceiling fans worked well for us. The kitchen appeared to have everything one needed, although all we did was make coffee! It was just so easy to walk around Merida and try all the delicious street food and fabulous restaurants, why bother cooking?! We loved the little market at Santa Ana Park, and bought fruit there every morning for breakfast. The location of Casa Kuxtal is perfect. No car needed as it is really easy to walk everywhere, and taxis are inexpensive if you need one. There is something going on every night. Our favorite was the Police Mariachi Band who just happened to be playing in Santa Lucia Park, which is lovely with all the outdoor restaurants. The house managers were great, and respond immediately if you need them. Great house for a couple or family.
Staying at the lovely Casa Kuxtal greatly added to our enjoyment of our 8-night (too short!) visit to Mérida. The owners have done a top notch job with the renovation, drawing out the home's historic character (gorgeous tile floors, restored antique woodwork) while tastefully modernizing the kitchen and baths. The courtyard is a peaceful oasis, where you can even hear the choir singing from the nearby church. Do remember your mosquito repellent - on days when it isn't windy, they're a problem. We didn't try the A/C, the ceiling fans were enough during our stay. Plenty of dishes, cutlery, coffeemaker etc. Took us some googling to figure out the cooktop - there's a switch on the wall, then the trick is you have to have a pot on the burner before it will turn on. Didn't find an iron, but I wouldn't swear there isn't one somewhere. Wifi was solid. Owners were very responsive, and the caretakers very nice and helpful. Pleasant and safe walking to everything, even at night. If we come to Mérida again, I will arrange the trip around the availability of Casa Kuxtal!
