Three Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, With Mountain Views And Forested Backyard
Enjoy the best of beautiful Ouray and the surrounding wilderness at our vacation house that is within Ouray city limits but sits on a forested lot overlooking the Uncompahgre River. The river, and the river trail, can be accessed at the end of our driveway. The Ouray hot springs pool is a 15 minute walk from our house along the river trail. Our dining room looks out on Gold Hill where snow melt creates a waterfall in spring and early summer. Relax on our front patio in front of a nice fire or light up the bar-b-que and dine outside in the shadow of the San Juan Mountains. Shop and recreate in Ouray and return to a quiet home in the woods where deer often wander through the yard.

About Carl Cockle
We are two brothers who live with our families in Southern California. Our parents retired to this part of Colorado and we have visited them every year since then. They own an antique store on Main St. in Ouray called RB Horse Trader and would love to have you stop by and say hello.
Carl Cockle purchased this House in 2013
Why Carl Cockle chose Ouray
Over the years we have been overwhelmed by the natural beauty of this area and the quaintness and hospitality of Ouray so this year we purchased this house so that we would have a place to stay for years to come. Ouray and the surrounding area has so much to offer. You can hike, jeep, and climb until you are exhausted or you can just sit down and watch the aspen shimmer in the breeze.
What makes this House unique
We love this property because it is so close to the amenities of town and yet you can also enjoy a bit of seclusion. Our property runs about 100 feet up the hill behind the house. If you hike up a bit you will catch glimpses of wild roses and deer. The dining room has windows that stretch from end to end giving an unobstructed view of the dramatic canyon walls.
Such a great place, it's quite plenty of room and not far from town. We will definitely be back.
This place was perfect for our trip, the owner make everything easy for us. We are already planning on making another trip to this area soon and will definitely be in contact with the property owner for another stay.
A pleasant place to stay when in Ouray
The house had everything we needed to have a comfortable and relaxing stay in Ouray. It's an older home and as such has some small quirks. But I found them more charming than annoying.
TV is streaming services only as far as we could tell. It was warm when we were in town and the lack of AC was something we were not accustomed to. However we were not there much in the day and it was cool at night so we just left windows open. It would be very quiet at the house normally. While we were there a crew was digging up the road to put in fiber. It's an easy walk to the hot springs pools using the river walk that is just across the street. Having access to a washer and dryer was really nice are being in hotels for the week prior. Overall, a very pleasant stay.
Perrfect House for the week
I stayed at this property with my two sons for 5 nights and it was PERFECT. We were close to Ouray and all of our daily activities and it was nice to return to the house each evening to just relax and barbeque some food and enjoy the tranquility of this little slice of heaven. The noise of the river and the deer in the yard were awesome.
The beds were comfortable and the use of the garage for our trailers worked out great. The only negative was I couldn't get the TV in the master bedroom downstairs to work but no biggie. I was to tired to watch it anyways. The family room has a big screen tv and the boys loved watching "the office"....I slept!!!
We plan on returning next year ..
Spectacular view. Home had all you needed to enjoy the beautiful Ouray area.
Quiet and comfortable
A great location roughly just a mile from downtown, but tucked back slightly in the woods for a serene setting. Deer were routinely seen resting nearby, but never a threat. Nice to have 2 bathrooms. Everything was very clean and well maintained.
Awesome, cozy, warm, bigger in person
We enjoyed our stay. We are an active group so we didn't have any trouble walking 1 mile in to town and back in a matter of 15-20 minutes. Ideal location for ice fest. Very competitive pricing. The place was nice, clean, and there were no surprises. Everything seemed "easy" and available. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place for a few days as the rooms and beds were big and spacious.
