A wonderful spot!

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful home is the very last place at the end of a twisting lane. We were so delighted when we saw how spacious and well-equipped the Faha House is. From the gas AND electric stove, dishwasher, laundry facilities, and deep bathtub in one of the two bathrooms, we couldn't have been more delighted. Jaqueline had fresh scones, milk, and butter waiting for us and enough peet bricks to get us started, which were such thoughtful extras.

The Faha House is situated halfway up the mountainside it resides on. It was such a pleasure to hike up the mountain and spend time at the grotto created by local folk, then carry on to the top and look out over the stunning valley and bay below...heavenly!

Jacqueline's knowledge of the region's history/geography, her thoughtfulness, the wonderful accommodations, the nearby village with its lovely pubs and small grocery store (with fresh baked breads and scones!), make the Faha House a gem of a find that far exceeds expectation! Thank you, Jacqueline for helping to make our first trip to Ireland such a pleasure...and definitely will draw us back.

Pure Bliss!!!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Cloghane was an experience we will never forget. The house is beautiful, spotless, well-appointed, and convenient to local attractions. The mountain, the bay, the sheep, and the green that is Ireland made us never want to leave. Jackie and her family are a delight, and graciously welcomed and accommodated us! You will not be disappointed.

Magnificant Faha house with stunning views!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at Faha house. The house is well kept, very nicely decorated and makes you feel at home instantly. More than well equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are very spacious with ensuite. There is another separate bathroom with a nice bath. A woodstove in the living room added to the atmosphere in the evening. (Wood provided by owner.) Washing machine and dryer came in handy, as we went to the beach a lot. Also a very nice outside sitting area with BBQ. The owner, Jacqueline, is very helpful. Thanks again for waiting!

The views from the house are stunning. Front view on Brandon bay, which provided great picture moments from early morning till sunset. Rear view on the surrounding mountains, of which the climb to mount Brandon starts at the house. Breathtaking views from mount Brandon. It took us about 5 hours to climb the mountain and return. Worth every minute!

The house is ideally located to make daytrips. We can recommend:

Going to Dingle over the Connor Pass. Don’t forget to stop at the top, great views! Dingle is a nice town. Very colourful. If you like some driving adventure, there is another, smaller pass, to drive from Cloghane to Dingle. Great views as well.

We really liked the beaches in Inch (parking on the beach!) and at Fermoyle (about 15 minutes drive). Sunset at Fermoyle provided stunning pictures. Also Brandon point at sunset is magical!

On Sunday there is a small farmers market in Castlegregory, where they sell vegetables, homemade chocolates, cakes etc.

The Slea head drive is an absolute must. Stunning views along the drive and several viewing points where you can stop to make pictures. You can walk to the viewing point with a great view on the Blasket Islands. Also the visitor centre of Blasket Islands is worth a visit. Here you can learn about the history of the Blasket Islands and its former residents. It makes you feel very humble. There is a nice bookshop at the centre, where they sell a great variety of books. Also a photo exhibition of the photographer John Hooton with magnificent pictures of the Dingle peninsula. (Could not resist buying the photobook “Gathering light” at the book shop)

If you like (sub)tropical gardens, go to Dhu Varren gardens in Milltown. (About 1 hour drive). A very passionate owner, who can tell you a lot about the plants.

We highly recommend the accomodation!

The Cloghane area is one of spectacular natural beauty, between the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. It has an abundance of sandy beaches, washed clean by the surf of Brandon Bay.

Mount Brandon is the highest peak of the Slieve Mise mountain range and is Ireland's second highest mountain at 3127ft (951m). The mountain is closely associated with St. Brendan, Kerry's patron saint and is known as St. Brendan's Mountain...Cnoc Brennain in Irish. The village of Cloghane is situated at the start of the longest beach in Ireland. It is ideal for surfing, horse riding and shore fishing.
