The only vacation rental home in Kolea with a totally unobstructed direct view of the beach and ocean! Designed and named Hale Nanea (House of Tranquility) by the home’s architect, this extraordinary oceanfront luxury home in the small gated community of Kolea at Waikoloa offers a tranquil tropical haven where guests can have it all.
Situated on Anaeho’omalu Bay (“A-Bay”), a scarce white sand beach with calm waters, this prime oceanfront location beckons one to shed their stress, relax, and enjoy tropical breezes, sights and sounds!
With irrefutably the best ocean frontage in Kolea, the home is surrounded by a gated entrance, tall lava rock walls and mature landscaping - providing complete privacy for over 4,500 sq. ft. of indoor living area, lanai and mature outdoor gardens.
The beautiful island-themed home opens to a large lanai and spectacular unobstructed views of the beach and ocean. Its spacious indoor area features Italian quarry tile floors (but all bedrooms are carpeted), relaxing living area with vaulted ceiling, separate dining area with a large dining table seating 10. Five well-appointed bedrooms sleep 10 - including 2 huge master suites flowing onto the lanai - and a private bathroom with each bedroom. Each bedroom has bedside tables, dressers, closet and flat screen TV. The additional half-bath allows use by all in a convenient location.
The oceanfront sliding glass walls throughout the home open to a large lanai with a cozy day-bed, cushioned teak lounge furniture, a shaded lounge area, BBQ gazebo center, and private infinity pool and spa.
The large gazebo BBQ center has an Italian quarry-tiled service counter, built-in gas grill, refrigerator, and large teak table with seating for 10. A lockable gate from the lanai leads directly to a private path to the beach. The home includes a 2-car garage with an overflow refrigerator) and assorted pool and beach equipment.
Just steps away, the Kolea Beach Club has a large community pool and spa, children’s sand-bottom pool with waterfall, and a fitness room. Less than a 5-minute walk outside the Kolea gate takes you to the Kings’ Shops and Queens’ Marketplace at Waikoloa Beach Resort – featuring gourmet restaurants, markets, shops (including Starbuck’s!) golf, nightlife – and even a luau. Stroll the nearby “Path of Kings” along the historical ponds in front of the home and learn their rich history from the petroglyphs and posted descriptions.
Wine country family-owned home, with another vrbo rental in wine country - contact us for more information on that one.
Elizabeth purchased this house in 2006
After 30 years of Kona vacationing it was finally time to take the plunge and have our own place, and recently decided to share it with vrbo renters. Oceanfront homes with a long white sand beach and easy ocean access are very rare!
Incredible, jaw-dropping views of the beach, ocean, swaying palms, tropical breezes - what more do you need?
“We are still coming down from the high of our beautiful Hawaiian vacation at the "House of Tranquility". We all had the best time and absolutely loved the house. It was so beautiful with the view of the lagoon and ocean from the pool and jacuzzi. The house was laid out so well too with such generous sized bedrooms.”
We rented the House of Tranquility for 5 days for my 50th birthday celebration . This was the first time that I had rented a house on VRBO. The whole experience was great. First off , Elizabeth was so fantastic to deal with . She answered all of my questions and I had a lot of questions. She was very quick to get back to me on email and phone. My experience with Elizabeth was the main reason that I chose this house over other houses.
The house was absolutely gorgeous . It has 2 master suites and every bedroom had it's own ensuite. I had such a hard time deciding on which master suite I wanted to stay in. All the bedrooms were nicely appointed and outfitted with toiletries and lots of clean fluffy towels. All bedrooms had their own tvs.
The outside patio with it's own pool and hot tub was so picturesque as it overlooked the fishponds . While sitting there , you had a gorgeous view of the beach, palm trees, ocean and fish ponds . Absolutely tranquil and relaxing. Didn't hear any noise from the neighbours or the small beach club beside the house. The outside chairs and oversized couch were great to relax in. The outside bbq and eating area were well utilized by our group. You just wanted to spend all your time outside.
The kitchen was well equipped with equipment, dishes, glasses and lots of pantry items left over from previous guests. It even had a margarita maker . 2 fridges and a wine fridge are great to have especially with a full house of people.
Great living room and dining room . It was great to have so much space in the evening .The 4 patio doors open right up so we had big inside /outside living space The grounds were all very well maintained and had a great Hawaii feeling with all the great trees, shrubs and flowers.
The beach towels were plentiful . Laundry room was equipped with laundry detergent , it was so nice to have.
The mgmt company ( Tjaden and Rob) on site were great and they answered all of our questions and were quick to reply to our requests. Check in and check out was seamless and so easy .
Being in the Waikoloa Beach Resort was great as there was quick access to various stores and groceries.
I would totally recommend this property. I am trying to find another 8 friends to come back with me in 2018.
This house really made my 50th birthday memorable.
Age range, 60, 30s, 20s and young kids. The house was great for everyone.
Location: About 25 minute drive from the airport, straight up the highway. Very easy to find. It's situated on the fishpond (look it up, very interesting history) which makes for a nice buffer between you and the beach-goers. The beach is a five minute walk, either through the beach club or marriott sidewalk - super easy to get to. The fishpond is also really neat because you can look in it and see all kinds of creatures from fish to eels and crab. It makes for a really pretty setting. Also, within a one minute drive is a nice grocery market and two nice upper-midscale outdoor shopping areas. Very nice to have so close by.
The other houses in the area are all well kept and we never heard a peep from anyone on either side of us (did see cars in the driveway, so someone was there).
Amenities: The beds where all comfortable. I have some back issues but slept great, which doesn't usually happen when I travel. The beds all have nice, big Hawaiian Quilts on them (as shown in the photos) - very nice touch. The two masters have big bathrooms with standup showers that lead to outdoor, private showers and each has a large, jetted tub as well has dual sinks. All other bedrooms have standard baths a shown in the photos. All very clean and well appointed.
The dining room has a huge solid wood table (very cool) that can seat 10 or 12 without issue - probably more. The kitchen was my favorite part. Very nice Viking kitchen with everything you'll need to cook breakfast, lunch or dinner - something we did a lot. Family room was very large with plenty of seating.
One of my favorite features is the opening walls to the back yard. We had some great nights where we could open up the whole house and let the fresh air in. What a treat.
We spent a ton of time in the pool. It's lit at night and the jacuzzi is heated. What more do you need?
The grill outside works great and we used that and ate outside a few times.
The grounds are kept up really nicely. There are trees and flowers all round the front, back and side yards. The details were not overlooked here.
And last but not least, Tjaden, the on-site property manger, was awesome. Ask him anything and he'll make it happen.
Overall this house really made a great home for our family for the week. We'd all highly recommend it.
This house was amazing for a family vacation. We had 2 families of 4, each with young kids and a set of grandparents. The pool was perfect. The views are outstanding. The location is great with easy access to restaurants and shopping. We cooked a lot and loved eating outside on the lanai. I really hope that we get to come back soon.
Our family of 10 adults (four in our 50s, six in their 20s) stayed for one week in early December 2015. The house and its location are fabulous. Waikoloa Resort is a fairly congested area and we were not planning on staying there for that reason. However, we saw the pictures of House of Tranquility and its location on Google Earth and decided to give it a try. The house is a private enclave dropped into a vibrant vacation community. Whether we were in the house, outside on the lanai or in the pool, it was very private. The house has an unobstructed view of the beach and ocean (great sunsets), with no pathways in front of the house. It's a short walk to the beach. Although it's next door to the shared beach club (for the other homes and townhomes) we did not hear any noise. Lava walls and landscaping work well for privacy. The home is within walking distance of shopping, restaurants and the Las Vegas-like Hilton Hotel, for which you receive pool passes. Although the main pool with slides, etc. was under construction while we were there, we enjoyed seeing the dolphins and riding the monorail trolley and boats. The home is very comfortable, with plenty of space in the living areas and dining areas (indoor and out). The kitchen is well-equipped with a variety of spices, oils, condiments, etc. left by prior guests and all the pots and pans, dishes, glassware, etc. you need. The on-site property manager who welcomed us to the home was friendly and responsive to our needs during the week. My only suggestion would be to have the home stocked with more paper towels and toilet tissue, rather than having to call to request these items when needed. The two master suites are huge, with plenty of closet space, large bathroom and outdoor shower. The other three bedrooms are smaller, but adequate in size for two adults. The air conditioning works well (not always the case in other houses we've rented). We recommend the lovely House of Tranquility and hope to return.
This house is a wonderful place to reconnect and unwind. We planned a 50th anniversary celebration for my in-laws at the House of Tranquility and everything we experienced exceeded our expectations. Once our party of ten got to the house our cares melted away. The staff greeting was exceptional and made us feel like ohana - both valued and included - immediately. We have 12 and 8 year old girls who toured the house, selected their bedroom, donned their swimsuits, and were in the wonderful infinity pool in less than seven minutes (they looked like prunes by the end of the week as they seldom left the water) while the rest of us were guided throughout the spacious and beautiful home and informed of its extensive amenities. The staff is wonderfully thoughtful, helpful, and checked up on us regularly, answering several questions and requests promptly and with grace.
We enjoyed the house so much we rarely left Kolea. We passed the time by walking the beautiful beach (no picture does it justice), playing in the water, and exploring the shopping at nearby King's and Queen's Markets. My only complaint is that there is not a decent shave ice to be had in the area...but why did I spend that much time at the rental counter if I didn't mind a short trip to "Original Big Island Shave Ice Co." in Kawaihae (maybe not so short...but worth the trip, really!)
Back to the house: The kitchen is exceptionally well appointed. But we never used the indoor dining table, choosing instead to eat around the huge round table under the gazebo on the lanai/patio. It was so relaxing it was hard to get back up to walk the five steps to get back into the pool. The bedrooms are all very well appointed and comfortable, and the family room is especially comfortable after dark. No matter the time of day, or the agenda, the ten of us were comfortable and never felt crowded. The house is amazing.
Most pleasant discoveries: A stack of high quality, plush beach towels as tall as my 8 year old and an always-shaded-daybed on the lanai (great for napping in ocean breezes)
The House of Tranquility is one of the best vacation locations we have ever experienced and will be the standard by which all future experiences will be judged.
I can't imagine a better place for a tropical vacation. The location is perfect, just enough back from the beach to get some great palms in the foregrounds for sunset pictures. I've never been anywhere that has such gorgeous sunsets every night. The house is fantastic. Beautifully furnished with lots of indoor and outdoor spaces, and the indoor spaces all open up to the outdoors. We had eight people in our group and the house swallowed us up - we never felt crowded. The kids loved the pool and the adults loved star gazing in the hot tub at night. The location is great for easy access to shops and restaurants (although we did all our cooking at the house). All of this made for the best family vacation we've ever had!
Kings Shops and Queen's Marketplace provide numerous restaurants, gourmet market, shops, etc. The Lava Lava Beach Club Restaurant sits on the sand with gentle waves lapping at the shore only feet away, and a historical walk along the path of the King's around the ponds has information plaques. The Waikoloa Grill has fabulous drinks and menu, with casual salad bar. Whale watching, snorkel and champagne sunset catamaran cruises could not be any easier.
