Beautiful 4 star apartments, 2 pools, parking, close to beach

Villa Salena is a beautiful development consisting of 18 apartments close to the town of Slatine to the north east of Ciovo.

The property consists of three penthouse apartments and a number of standard two bedroom and one bedroom apartments. Therefore, we can cater for groups of almost any size.

A standard two bedroom apartment consists of a comfortable kitchen, dining and living area that leads out on to the balcony. There is a master bedroom in each apartment that has a double bed and a smaller second bedroom that has bunk beds. There is one fully equipped bathroom in each apartment.

The penthouse apartments are larger than the standard apartment and the second bedroom has single beds. The balcony is also larger and you can enjoy beautiful sea views from them. Please enquire about them as they are more expensive.

The development benefits from two beautiful pools that are shared by all of the apartments, ample parking and its close proximity to the town of Slatine and the beach.

Villa Salena is located just a short walk from the charming fishing town of Slatine. The village is located to the north east of Ciovo island. Slatine is very much an old Mediterranean village that has been unspoiled by large scale tourist development. However, this is gradually proving a blessing as the town becomes increasingly popular with guests looking for a more authentic Croatian village than some of the more popular tourist destinations on the island.

During the summer months there is a regular ferry that can take you from Slatine to either Split or Trogir and back again. This is ideal as it provides you with a cheap and quick method of transport to visit two of the most popular tourist attractions in the region (whilst avoiding any traffic). Both Trogir and Split are UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Villa Salena is also only 12km from Split airport so you are not wasting any time with unnecessary travel. While Slatine is based on the island of Ciovo, you can still drive to the island due to a connection bridge located in Trogir.

The closest beach is only 200m from the apartments and there are endless coves and inlets along the coastline if you are looking for somewhere more private. There is also the popular Kava beach on the other side of Slatine although this is not really within walking distance of the apartments.

Local amenities in the town include a choice of restaurants, supermarkets, cafes and bars. There is also a diving school and water sports providers. Anything not available in the town can be easily arranged from the nearby Trogir.

All of the apartments in Villa Salena are finished and fully furnished to a quality standard. 2011 will be the first lettings of the property so all of our furniture and accessories are brand new. The apartments are a much better standard than most of the other properties on the island and have a 4 star rating. A standard two bedroom apartment consists of an entrance area, a large double bedroom, bathroom and a large kitchen and living area. There is also a small second bedroom that is equipped withe bunk beds and is great for kids. The kitchen is fully equipped with all mod cons including washing machine and dishwasher. The living area contains stylish leather furniture which includes a sofa bed. There is also a dining table and chairs to eat at. There is a balcony off the living area which generally provides you with a beautiful sea view. Apartments are located on the ground, first and second floors so the views may vary. Please enquire if you have a preference

Lovely apartment

This was a lovely, spotless 2 bedroom apartment but was not the one shown in the pictures. It was a penthouse in the front building but the layout was different to that shown. It had a very spacious balcony with room for a table, chairs and 2 sun loungers with beautiful views over the water to the not too distant mainland. The 2 bedrooms were generous in their size but lacking in storage space for 2 people per room to store their clothes. The kitchen was small and quirky but was not a problem to us as we were not cooking at all. The lounge was very comfortable and fresh. There is an area that could take 2 single beds but there would be little privacy and so I would recommend this area for children. Ideally this apartment is perfect for 4 people. There is a local beach within a 10 minute walk and a bit further on there is a beach bar. There are both advantages and disadvantages to having a car as there can be major traffic jams over the Trogir bridges but location wise the apartment is great for visiting Trogir, Split and the Krk national park. These can be reached using public transport. The little ferry that runs from Slatine ( a 20 minute walk) can take you to Trogit or Split in half an hour, though watch your times as they are not all that frequent and there is the bus to Trogir but again not too frequent, nor does it tie in with the ferry. Both the owner and manager provided us with excellent service and we would recommend this apartment.

Very nice apartment in good location.

We ( 2 couples) stayed in the Villa Selena penthouse apartment in the block nearest the sea. It is an extremely spacious 2-bedroom apartment, with a large living, kitchen and dining area. The bedrooms were both very large, and all furniture was of a high standard. The apartment and surrounding grounds and pool areas were all spotlessly clean and well maintained.

Slight niggle was just the one bathroom, although it too was very spacious. We would have liked another shower-room/toilet, and there is certainly enough space within the apartment to accommodate at least one en-suite.

The best feature was almost the whole width of the apartment was glass-fronted, and sliding doors lead out to a balcony big enough for a table and 4 chairs, plus 2 sun loungers and a clothes dryer. The views out over the sea to the mainland was spectacular - both day and night.

In terms of location, Slatine 'town' stretches out for quite a distance along the main road, and the ferry port was approx. 1km from the apartment. The walk to the port involves going up and down a hill, which was not a great problem for us - but would not suit everyone. There is a bus service, which was pretty good - but does not coincide with the ferry timetable, which was a pity. The port itself has a few restaurants and bars. We never ate there in the evening, but the bar/restaurant nearest to the ferry does excellent drinks, snacks and lunches, and we found all the staff to be very friendly and efficient.

We deliberately did not hire a car as we loved taking the ferry over to Split old town or around to Trogir. Both towns are beautiful, with excellent restaurants and well worth repeated visits. The ferries do not run after dark, so we only visited Split during the day, as it is a long drive away. Driving - and especially parking - in Trogir is a nightmare, so taking the ferry around is definitely the way to go. Coming back from Trogir we took taxis (150-200kuna) or the bus, which was cheap and cheerful.

The management and staff of the accommodation at Villa Selena were very efficient and courteous. With the proviso that you will either need a car, or not mind a bit of a walk, I would certainly recommend Villa Selena. Slatine is certainly a really good base for people who want the combination of a bit of quiet seafront R&R, together with beautiful ancient cities close by.

A nice appartment with really good service

The appartment where really nice with air conditions in all rooms which was important for us since the weather was really hot! The area around the pool was nice only drawback is that it is dark sunbeds, they get so hot in the sun that we almost burned ourselves. Around 5 mins to go, 2 mins with bicycle there was a nice beach with a nice restaurant and a supermarket in direction Trogir which we used alot.

Excellent holiday location!

we were welcomed on the arrival date by the host and spent beautiful two weeks in the apartment which we found clean and well maintained with the good furniture and appliances. all our requests were answered in timely manner by the host. I'd definitely recommend this apartment for a holidays to families with the kids - close to the sea and with the own two swimming pools. thank you very much!

Slatine is a charming fishing village located on the island of Ciovo. Due to its proximity to both Split and Trogir (and the transport links between them), Slatine is the ideal place to spend your holiday. Also, you are only a 12km drive from Split Airport so once your flight lands you are not too far from the luxury of our apartments.

Although not as popular as other destinations on the island, Slatine is becoming ever more popular due to the beautiful coastline that you are never too far away from. There is also a choice of beaches, restaurants, bars and water activities to keep you occupied throughout your stay. Slatine provides you with the beauty of an old Mediterranean village that is still largely unspoiled while at the same time you are only a 15 minute taxi ferry to either Trogir or Split which are the two most popular tourist destinations in the region.
