Morningside Chalet is located at the end of a flat cul-de-sac with plenty of parking and no traffic. Our home is adjacent to acres of protected forestland so it is very private, quiet and relaxing but close to everything. It’s perfect for a family getaway or a romantic retreat. Walk down the hill to Blue Jay for shopping, movies, restaurant and grocery store. It’s a three-minute drive or a ten-minute walk to access the lake walking trails. We also offer use of our guest pass to the two private beach clubs (only a five minute drive) for swimming and sunbathing. We have umbrellas, rafts and cooler for your use.

It’s a short five minute drive to Lake Arrowhead Village where you and your family and friends can enjoy the summer concerts, ice cream and candy stores, galleries, shopping, boat trips and dining.

Come in the autumn for beautiful fall color and Oktoberfest or in the winter to ski Snow Valley, a short sixteen mile trip away.

The cabin sleeps six comfortably. Our master has a king bed with a private 3/4 bath while the second bedroom has a queen bed and nearby full bath. Both, bedrooms have beautiful, peaceful views. The large cheerful loft has 2 twin beds (great for kids), flat screen TV, DVD player, DVR, game table, and a closet full of games, puzzles, and books. Additionally, there is a small private deck with a view of the Little Bear Greenbelt.

All the beds have down pillows or optional hypoallergenic pillows, and luxurious new linens, comforters & quilts.

The airy yet cozy chalet has twenty-foot ceilings, eclectic high end furnishings, hardwood floors, an impressive stone fireplace in the great room and a kitchen with granite counter tops and stainless appliances. The kitchen is stocked with cookware, utensils, flatware, coffeemaker, and everything you’ll need for a 4th of July barbeque to Christmas dinner.

The ultra clean bathrooms also have granite counter tops, plenty of fluffy towels, make-up or shaving mirrors, hair dryers and personal soaps.

There are four flat screen TVs equipped with Direct TV, DVRs and an X-Box with games and NetFlix. Each TV has it’s own DVD player. Our great room TV has a sound system that will also accommodate your own Ipod or Iphone for music and the DVD player also plays CDs. We offer free WI-fi, internet service and land line telephone. We have two additional large decks with comfortable furniture, barbeque, umbrellas and dining table.

Very romantic, also great for family fun and those over 55 (as long as 10 steps down to the front door aren't an issue). People with alternative lifestyles are welcome.

Pack your clothes, food and family or friends and come up and escape the city.

This is not a party house and we ask that you respect us (and our neighbors) by not renting from us if this is what you are looking for.

About Ray and Christie

Ray grew up in the mid-west. Christie grew up in Southern California. We met while both working on the road with a famous rock band in the seventies. We dated briefly at that time and then went our separate ways. Twenty years later, we met again, fell in love and were married. We just celebrated our fourteenth anniversary.

Ray and Christie purchased this chalet in 2013

Why Ray and Christie chose Lake Arrowhead

Christie had vacationed in Arrowhead since she was a child. When we reunited this became our favorite vacation spot as a couple. It's always been our dream to buy a home here. It has finally become a reality. Its close proximity to our home in Ventura County makes it a perfect quick escape from our busy work lives. We love it so much we plan to retire here in the future.

What makes this chalet unique

It is just a spectacular house. We walked in and saw the 20 foot cathedral ceilings, floor to ceiling fireplace, wall of windows and huge deck and fell in love. Our home

is located at the end of the street so it is very quiet and feels far away from everything. It's really just above Blue Jay and at the west end of the lake. If there weren't so many beautiful trees we would have a lake view. We have plenty of parking.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Would love to stay here for another week or two! Reggie loved your deck with squirrels and jays to keep him alert-also our long walks around the neighborhood. Thanks so much!

Well kept, cozy and homey

  • 5 of 5

Very nice home, we loved it! It's at the end of the street so on one side there weren't any neighbors . We loved all the trees and wilderness. My son and nephew(both teens) slept in the loft which they loved. Did puzzles, played board games and Xbox which was all provided. Basically the whole house was furnished, clean and really didn't need anything because it's was all there. We went for a long walk to the village and we thought that was a great experience. Overall a great trip and would definitely do it again. Thank you Ray and Christie!!

Beautiful cabin with one of the best decks I've ever relaxed on!!

  • 5 of 5

My trip started with the owners accommodating me with an early check-in as traffic was less than excepted. My weekend with the family was amazing. We enjoyed all the amenities the cabin had to offer. It was beautifully maintained, well decorated, clean, private, and close to everything. I can't wait to stay here again. Thank you again to the amazing owners for opening their paradise up to my family and letting us escape for a weekend in the mountains.

Exceeded our expectations

  • 5 of 5

Great outdoor decks with great view. Comfortable beds and seating areas. Well stocked kitchen. Close to Lake Arrowhead and other amenities. Very functional wood burning fireplace, hilarious remote control singing deer head on wall, big screen tv with many premium movie services, quiet location at the end of a street, very clean. Would highly recommend.

Owner's Response: Thank you Carl for the nice review. We are so glad you enjoyed the chalet and Lake Arrowhead. We are happy we could "exceed your expectations". We really try. Not everyone realizes that "Buck" the singing deer is is a funny fake deer. It's fun for us when people do! It was our pleasure to have you stay. Please come back again next time you visit from Atlanta.

Lovely retreat full of homely touches

  • 5 of 5

On arrival, the house had a warm and welcoming vibe, despite the chill in the air on what was the first day of Fall.

Our party consisted of two adults and our pet retriever, Maisie. All three loved the space and the peace and quiet of the location.

The property is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac, so no traffic passes the front door. Parking is at street level but the house is accessed down a well-maintained flight of stairs. It is situated on two floors, although there is an added lower deck that sits beneath the living area.

Once through the front door, we immediately noticed a number of homely touches that gave the space a great feel. The living room benefits from a double-heighted ceiling with exposed wooden beams. An upstairs mezzanine provides a perfect den hang-out space for kids or adults wanting a bit of down time.

A well-equipped kitchen opens on to the living room, allowing for conversations and banter to continue during cooking and clean-up. The focal feature of the living area is the wood-burning fireplace, which was easy to use, especially as the hosts had thoughtfully provided an abundance of firewood. The dining area opens out onto a spacious deck, providing a perfect spot for al fresco meals or outdoor r&r.

The bedrooms are not overly spacious but both are comfortable and look out onto hillside views. The en suite in the master bedroom is compact but, as with the rest of the house, it was clean and perfectly serviceable. Cosmetics and cotton buds were just two of the added touches adorning the bathroom counter tops.

The hosts helpfully left a guest book packed with useful tips about the house and the local area. Christie was very responsive to texts, answering minor queries quickly.

There were several TVs located throughout the house - I stopped counting when getting to four - and all offered a myriad of channels and streaming services. The wifi was fast and never let us down.

The house came with passes for the Lake Arrowhead Beach Club. Our dog is an enthusiastic swimmer and we like to walk by the Lake, so access to the trails and the water, through use of these passes, was invaluable.

Despite its isolated feel, the house is actually only a couple of minutes away from a local cinema and shopping area. The supermarket offered a surprisingly wide-range of items, from firewood, fish and fresh fruit to organic meats, liquors and wines.

The property is recommended, without hesitation.
