From the desert and love to getaway to the beach. That's why we purchased this unit this year.
We love the oceanfront unit. There are many units at the surfrider but we loved the fact that it was on the 2nd floor and had panoramic ocean views from the front.
only complex in Mission Beach with a jacuzzi on the ocean front.
We loved our stay in K. We could tell that they listened to our requests from previous years because everything we needed was in the unit (new sofa bed, ice maker repaired, new towels and sheets...) It was also nice to have a toiletry kit, detergent, soap and a fan. Be aware that if you're going on the 4th of July week, many of your neighbors may be going there for a wild party and play loud music every day, but it toned down a bit towards the end of the week which was nice. The location cannot be beat and we all enjoyed our stay at SurfRider. Thank you Mission Sands.
We had a great time staying at the surfrider. Our individual room was a perfect fit for my family and the entire unit was a perfect fit my extended family. Was great to have our own room yet have a great common area to gather with cousins. Loved the hot tub and outside shower. Was a great way to rinse off and for everyone to warm up quickly. A key to helping reduce sand and wet towels in the rooms. Loved the location. Easy to get to roller coaster and the shops.
Always look forward to our return to the Surf Rider. Property manager Mission Sands were friendly, attentive and right across the street from our unit. Great views of a great beach!
Rented this unit for ourselves, our daughter and son-in-law, and our two grandchildren for a long weekend. The unit was perfect for watching the waves and the people on the beach-walk. The kids enjoyed being just steps from the beach and water. The listing is accurate, and the management team was easy to deal with.
There were some positives and negatives: I'll start off saying this location was AMAZING. It's right in between Pacific Beach and the Belmont Park area, so although it was Memorial Day weekend.. this was a great spot to avoid the "crowded" areas. Views- amazing. It was nice that the property had a Jacuzzi and BBQ on site, AND this unit has 2 dedicated parking spots. Parking is a gem in this area. Its only a few minutes away from the airport and zoo, plus the property management where you pick up the key is literally across the street. We could walk to get dinner (less than 10 minute walk to Belmont area), and there is a rental place for boogy boards, etc., right next to the property management shop as well. GREAT location and nicely updated unit. Pictures don’t do it justice.
That said…negatives are as follows: 1) Door is extremely hard to lock from the outside and inside. Property management made us aware of this, said the door was a bit temperamental... but this door is UNNECESSARILY hard to deal with. If it's known that this is such an issue- why not fix it, or include instructions taped near the door to make it easier? We spent at least 10 minutes a day fidgeting with this thing. Really a pain. 2) Screen on sliding door kept coming off the tracks… a little annoying as well. 3) Cleanliness wasn’t exactly what we expected for such a nice and updated unit…. There were black scuff marks on the walls, dust balls hanging from the ceiling fan in the living room, some dishes in the cabinets were dirty, and the trashcan itself was pretty grimey.
Just want management/ owner to know that those are some little things that could be fixed to turn a visitor’s stay from average to excellent.
Aside from that, I’d definitely recommend this unit to anyone wanting to have a nice little getaway. Management was courteous, responsive, and helpful, and overall we most likely would love to come back and stay at Surfrider K again!
This property is truly a gem on the beach. What I really liked about it most was the amazing ocean views. Literally from any room in the unit you can see the waves crashing. It's a cozy unit and it's perfect for a family getaway. I enjoyed waking up cooking breakfast and sitting on the porch watching the surfers and active San Diegans run up the boardwalk. On top of that I truly can't say good enough positive things about the management company Mission Sands Vacation Rentals and their team. They were there for anything we needed. I would highly recommend this unit and plan to come back very soon!
Mission Beach is a great spot in San Diego for all your beach and water activities since it's a 3.5 mile peninsula and the beach is one side and the bay is on the other side.
